3 JOB OPPORTUNITIES AT ALCATEL-LUCENT BELGIUM R&D OPPORTUNITIES IN 3 TEAMS IP: The IP team is a very lean technical team which is part of the international IP R&D organization that has put Alcatel-Lucent on the worldwide IP map. We implement and deliver a family of internet routers with the highest quality. We are number 2 worldwide. Ultra-broadband access: We are designing ultra-high capacity DSL and optical fiber solutions, used to connect 100s of millions of households in the world s largest and most advanced networks. You ll be working from our ultra-broadband access headquarters in Antwerp the birthplace of broadband. Nuage Networks: The Nuage Networks VSP platform in essence is a Software-Defined Networking (SDN) solution that virtualizes any DC network infrastructure and automatically establishes connectivity between compute resources upon their creation. 4 Software Development/Design Engineers Within Alcatel-Lucent we are looking for both Low-Level design (C and C++) as well as high-level design profiles (Java). Preferably, you have an engineering degree or a degree in computer science and experiences with Linux, with IP networking, and with the programming languages (C/C++). You might want to work with us if you're genuinely interested in computer networking and in SW development for real-time systems. In the DSL and/or GPON domain you will contribute to the development of real time embedded software for our existing and new to be developed hardware platforms. You will need to get an in-depth understanding of new telecommunications protocols and/or Alcatel-Lucent s hardware platforms. For Nuage Networks you will design and implement customer features within the Nuage Virtualized Services Platform (VSP) and integrate them with open-source Cloud Management Systems being OpenStack and CloudStack. The Nuage Networks VSP Platform provides support for all major cloud management systems (VmWare, OpenStack, CloudStack), hypervisors, and network gear. For this team we are looking for experience in python development expertise (OpenStack), Java development and knowledge of Java application servers, JBOSS etc Software Testing/ Quality assurance Engineers Are you passionate about Software Testing or Quality Assurance, Test automating or Customer Focus Testing? We have 20+ open positions in the area of Testing in our ultra broadband access, IP Networking and Nuage Networks departments where you guard the overall product quality (once deployed). Typical responsibilities as Software Testing/Quality Assurance Engineer are: Troubleshoot issues (taking traces, interacting with key Software developers, etc.) in a complex embedded system. Do the testing of a number of features you signed up for. You will have the final responsibility to decide if these features and the router can be shipped to our customers. Develop and execute sophisticated software tests within different Platforms to verify conformance of feature(s) functionality implemented by Engineering against requirements specifications laid out by Product Marketing. Perform quality assurance tests to ensure completion of software and interact extensively with Software, Hardware, and Firmware teams. 4

5 ASIC/FPGA Design Engineers Are you intrested in ultra-broadband access technology (Fiber and Copper Access)? In both domains the ASIC and FPGA System On Chips (SoC s) are the heart of the system, making it possible for Alcatel-Lucent to have differentiating products at the right cost points. You will contribute to the system design, the ASIC/FPGA feasibility studies, with hardware description languages like VHDL or Verilog, scripting languages like TCL/TK, Perl or Python and programming languages like C/C++ or system C when appropriate. If commercial EDA tools from Mentor Graphics, Synopsys, Cadence, Xilinx and Altera ring a bell it might be your future dream job! Hardware Design Engineers You will be able to participate in the overall product development cycle from electrical product conception until start of mass production. You like to work with system architects, Software Engineers and other Hardware disciplines with daily interaction to multiple parties. Your motor runs from Hardware circuit design, mainly analog (DC/DC converter design/ac/dc converter design/analog design), feasibility studies to Hardware verification.
