Oracle no longer providing public security updates for JRE 1.6 CoreHR upgrade project Updating software and infrastructure behind the HRIS system Updated system needs JRE 1.8 Go live planned for 27 th October 2015 JRE upgrade project Updating all other current central systems to work with JRE 1.8 Remove the requirement for JRE 1.6

5 Systems that use Java Runtime Environment Financials R11 R12 Student Systems OSS HRIS v16 (until 22 nd October 2015) v20 (from 27 th October 2015)

6 Where we are going with JRE Now All systems require JRE 1.6 No systems compatible with JRE 1.8 Interim Period HRIS requires JRE 1.8 Other systems require JRE 1.6 End All systems compatible with JRE 1.8

8 Interim period desktop requirements HRIS v16 will not work if a version of JRE 1.8 is installed on the client machine All other systems will work on machines with both JRE 1.6 and 1.8 installed Exceptions list and configuration required for systems to fall back to JRE 1.6 System Uses HRIS JRE 1.8 OSS JRE 1.6 Financials R12 JRE 1.6 Financials R11 JRE 1.6

9 Interim period desktop requirements HRIS v16 will not work if a version of JRE 1.8 is installed on the client machine HRIS users Require only JRE 1.6 installed up until 23 rd October Require JRE 1.8 installed from 27 th October (JRE 1.6 can remain) If they also access OSS or Financials they will continue to need JRE1.6 OSS or Financials users Will continue to require JRE 1.6 Expected to be able to run with JRE 1.8 by end of November 2015

11 Options for installing JRE Un-configured JRE downloads JRE 6 Update 101 JRE 8 Update 60 Configured JRE package downloads JRE 6 Update 101 JRE 8 Update 51 Combined JRE 6 Update 101 AND 8 Update 51 Configured packages allow automated installations and apply configuration for central systems Do not install JRE 1.8 on machines accessing HRIS before 23 rd October

12 Combined JRE 1.6 and 1.8 package Will remove any existing versions of 1.6, 1.7 and 1.8 as part of installation JRE 1.7 is end of life Includes configuration for both OSS and Financials R12 to fall back to using JRE bit only for use on either 32 or 64bit Windows 7 operating systems and 32bit browsers within them
