1 Configure Brightspace (D2L) and Panopto - Admin Overview Panopto s free Brightspace by D2L integration brings video directly to the Brightspace interface. Instructors can add and manage their video files inside their familiar Brightspace classroom folders. And live webcasts and on-demand recordings can be linked or embedded as Brightspace course content, where students can watch on any laptop or mobile device. Prerequisites Admin access to Panopto 1. Open Application ID Registration 1.1. Login to Brightspace as an administrator Click on Admin Tools Click on Manage Extensibility Click on Register an App Name the app Panopto Set the Trusted URL to the URL of your Panopto site (ie: Set the Major Versions to 1 and click Register Application. Note: Our admin role in D2L does not use cascading enrollments, the integration may fail to provision courses (See Figure 1). Figure 1

You will either need to re-enable this option for your admin role or create a custom admin role to be used with Panopto that has cascading enrollments Once this is completed you will need to provide Panopto Support with the Application ID that was just created. They will need to contact Brightspace Support to have the Trusted URL wildcarded, making the Application ID an Open Application ID. After this change has been completed, you will notice the Trusted URL will change to ' Unspecified' (Fig. 2). Figure 2 2. Integrating Brightspace 2.1. You will be required to generate a User ID and User Key, by using the Valence Tool from Once you access the link, you will be required to fill in the details below (Fig. 3). 2.2.a. Host: yourbrightspaceurl.com (without http/https). 2.2.b. Port: 443 (do not change). 2.2.c. App ID: Obtained from Extensibility Management page. 2.2.d. App Key: Obtained from Extensibility Management page. 2.2.e. Click on Authenticate.

3 Figure Clicking on Authenticate will take you through to the page below (Fig. 4). Figure Click on Continue to obtain your User ID and User Key. Please note down these values Now that you have your Application ID & Key and User ID & Key, please login to your Panopto site as an administrator to configure Brightspace with Panopto (Fig. 5) Within Panopto expand System tab Click on Identity Provider tab Select Desire2Learn from the drop down and fill in: Instance name: Give the configuration an instance name. Friendly Description: This is the text that is shown to Panopto users in the recorder and website login.

4 Bounce Page: Client ID & Client Secret: App ID & Key from Extensibility Management page. Client ID = Application ID and Client Secret = Application Key. Admin ID & Admin Key: This is obtained from Valence Tool. Admin ID = User IDand Admin Key = User Key. Org Unit IDs: Listing of individual Org Unit ID's that will be provided with integration access. Found within Brightspace from Admin Tools then Org Unit Editor. Panopto Link Text: Panopto Recordings: This will be the External Learning Tool name within Admin Tools, External Learning Tools. Role Mappings: You require the Role ID s to map as creator. The format for mapping multiple roles as creator = 102:Creator; 104:Creator. Batch Provision Folders: When checked, this will bulk provision all course s as a Panopto folder. If unchecked, the Panopto folder won't be created until that link is clicked. This is unchecked by default. Create Folders On Sign-in: When checked, if a member of a course logs in using the Panopto UI and a folder is not yet configured for that course, we will create a folder for all active and current courses that user has access to. Parent Folder Name: A title for the top folder. Sync Active Courses Only: When checked, provisioning only occurs for current active course types. Suppress access permission sync on LTI link: When checked, whenever a User clicks through to Panopto from D2L, rather than sync permissions for all of the Users' enrollments, Panopto will only sync permissions for the D2L course whence they came. If you experience delays loading Panopto from D2L then you may want to enable this setting. Enable Panopto button in LMS editor: Functionality currently not implemented. Prepend Term Name: When checked, adds the term (orgunitdetails.semester.name) to the provisioned folder. Prepend Course Code: If checked, when courses are provisioned, the Panopto Folder name will always prepend the provider term before the Panopto Folder name (Ex: Fall 2013: My Course Name) Sign out of provider on Panopto logout: If checked, you will log out of Brightspace when you log out of Panopto.

5 Groups: If checked, Enable managing access control for groups associated with Brightspace. Bounce page blocks iframes: If checked, Panopto will not show the traditional login page in the iframe but a link that will allow you to open a new tab for login. Default Sign-in Option: Recommended value - True: If checked, when users browse to your Panopto site, Canvas will be the default sign-in option. Personal folders for users This setting controls whether Canvas-associated Panopto accounts receive Personal folders by default. LTI Username parameter override This setting can be used to override which LTI value we select for Panopto username. We do not recommend changing this value without consulting Panopto Support. Show this in Sign-in Dropdown Choose whether or not this provider is shown on the Panopto sign in page Click Save after all of the above settings have been entered Application Key: 2.28.a. This is a unique key identifier for the integration, automatically generated after save Click On Provision all Course (wait 30 seconds) Click on Check Provision Status Batch Provision: Batch Provision completed successfully.

When the configuration has been completed, this will create the External Learning Tool within Brightspace Login to Brightspace as administrator Click on Admin Tools Click on External Learning Tool Under Security Settings, Please ensure the following options have been checked (Fig. 6).

7 Figure 6 NOTE: 'Send system username to tool provider' may not be displayed by default under Security Settings. If not - Go to Admin Tools > External Learning Tool > Settings > Ensure that "Allow sending user name to tool provider" is selected > Save. You will then be able to enable this checkbox in the Panopto Recordings External Learning tool security settings To add the External Learning Tool link to all course s, under Make Link Available to: (Fig. 7). 3.6.a. Click on the Add Org Units button. 3.6.b. This will open a new window. 3.6.c. Search for the Top level Org Unit. 3.6.d. Check the top Level Org Unit. 3.6.e. Select All Descendants. 3.6.f. Click on the Insert Button. 3.6.g. Click on the Save Button.
