1 Page 1 Premier+ Family Tree Wizard and Premier+ Family Tree Work through the Family Tree Wizard in Premier+ Ultra. Then Quick Link to Premier+ Family Tree and see how much more is available to make your family chart special. 1. Double-click to open the Premier+ Embroidery System. 2. Double-click to open Premier+ Configure. 3. Click the Reset All Modules button. Resetting All Modules ensures that all settings are at their original point. 4. Click the OK button as needed to finish the Reset process. 5. Double-click Premier+ Embroidery to open the full Premier+ Embroidery system. In the NFS system, the first window opened will be Embroidery Extra in the Ultra Package. Family Tree Wizard Daughter: Susan Martin Birth Date: Death Date: Parents: Joseph Martin II Joan Carlson Birth Date: Death Date: Paternal Grandparents: Joseph Martin Susan Hendry Birth Date: Death Date: Maternal Grandparents: William Carlson Ida Mae Williams Birth Date: Death Date: Click the Wizards tab.
2 Page 2 7. Click Family Tree Wizard. 8. Click the Ancestors Chart. 9. Type in the Given Name and Family Name of the person you are making the chart for. Susan Martin is the beginning person. 10. Choose the Gender of the person - Female. 11. Click Next. 12. Add the Father s and Mother s names for the original person. Joseph Martin II and Joan Carlson are the father and mother. 13. Click Next. 14. Add the paternal Grandparents names. Joseph Martin and Susan Hendry are the paternal Grandparents. 15. Click Next. 16. Add the maternal Grandparents names. William Carlson and Ida Mae Williams are the maternal Grandparents. 17. Click Close. 18. Click Given Beside Family Name in Display Name As. 19. Click the Lettering Tab. 20. Choose a new font Script Valentina mm. 21. Change the size to be 20 mm. 22. Change the Width % to 175. This will make the letters fill the frame choice. 23. Click the Frame Tab. 24. Ensure the Frame Each Individual is active. 25. Highlight Frame and have Frames chosen in category. 26. Click the Show All icon. 27. Scroll down to Light Wide 1 and choose frame Click the Connectors Tab. 29. Choose Running Stitch. 30. Click Change color and choose a color to compliment the letters.
3 31. Choose Use Double Lines. Page Click Finish. 33. Click Select All. 34. Click Copy. You may not see anything on the clipboard because the design is so large it cannot draw on the small window. 35. Quick Link to Design Aligner. 36. Click Change Hoop. 37. Choose the 360 x 200 mm Universal Large Hoop Choose Orientation Rotated. 39. Click OK. 40. Ensure the Overlap is 20 mm, Alignment Stitch Style is Corner and Compensation Low. 41. Click Next. 42. Click Paste Click Finish. 44. Zoom in on the left split line. If you normally use a white background, change to a colored background so you can see the overlap area.
4 Page Move line points, as much as possible, to keep embroideries intact. 46. Insert Points as necessary to allow movement around embroideries and straight cuts. If you have to cut an embroidery, look for an easy connection area. 47. Once the lines are cut, click Split Design.
5 Page Use the right arrow and look at each hooping of your full family tree. 49. Click Export. 50. Choose the format for your embroidery machine. 51. Adjust finishing options as needed. 52. Click OK. 53. Change the file name to the family tree name, leaving Exported in the file name so you know it is ready to stitch. 54. Click Export. 55. Close Design Aligner. 56. Go back to Family Tree Wizard. 57. Click Send to Premier+ Family Tree. The names are automatically imported into the Family Tree. Family Tree 58. Double click the box with Susan Martin in it. 59. Add the date of birth Click OK. The date is now included in her box. 61. Double click on the Father box (Joseph Martin II). 62. Add the date of birth Click OK. 64. Double click on the Mother box (Joan Carlson). 65. Add the date of birth Click OK. 67. Click the up arrow on the Father. The Paternal Grandparents are now shown. 68. Add the Birth Dates and Death Dates as applicable by double clicking on the person s box. Joseph Martin Susan Hendry Birth Date: Death Date: Click OK as needed to enter the dates. In the Family Tree module, more individual data can be entered for each person.
6 Page 6 After entering information, the Embroidery tab lets you choose what information you want to show in your stitch out. 70. Click the Right arrow next to Joseph Martin II to get back to the first grouping of family. 71. Click the up arrow on the Mother. The Maternal Grandparents are now shown. 72. Add the Birth Dates and Death Dates as applicable by double clicking on the person s box. 73. Click OK as needed to enter the dates. William Carlson Ida Mae Williams Birth Date: Death Date: Click the Right arrow next to Joan Carlson to get back to the first grouping of family. 75. Click Susan Martin s box to make sure it is highlighted. 76. Click Create Embroidery Chart to see the first chart before you make changes. 77. Click the Theme Wizard Click My Themes. 79. Click Next. 80. Choose Chart and Layout as Ancestors, Layout as Vertical and Ancestors as 3 Generations. 81. Click Next. 82. Leave lettering as it was imported from the Wizard. Lettering Valentina mm, Size 20 mm, Width % 100, Height % Take the check away from Flourish. 84. Click Next. 85. Choose the Lettering style to Traditional Line Block. 86. Change Size to 5 mm. 87. Adjust Fact Line 1 to Birth, Show Date. 88. Adjust Fact Line 2 to Death, Show Date.
7 89. Click Next. Page Take the check away from Include Pictures for Each Individual. 91. Click Next. 92. Place a check next to Place a frame around each individual and Use alternative setting for females. 93. On Individual Frames choose Frames, Frames and Light Wide On Female Alternative choose Frames, Frames and Light Wide Leave color as is. 96. Click Next. 97. Use Connector Type Running Stitch and Spouse Connectors Use Double Lines. 98. Click Next. No picture will be added for the Family Photo Stitch. 99. Click Next Change the Lettering for the Title to Elegant Per Gothic mm Change Size to 25 mm Check Use Frame or Flourish, 103. Choose Flourish Below Choose Light Wide 1 7, Flourish % Click Next Change Background to None Click Next Change Theme Name to Susan Martin Click Finish Click Chart Title Change to Ancestors of Susan Martin Click OK Click Options Click Names tab.
8 Page Choose Given Name, Family Name Check Include Prefix and Include Suffix Do not change other Defaults Click OK Click Save Complete Embroidery. This will save as a.vp4 format which will keep project information if you need to make adjustments Type file name as Ancestors of Susan Martin Click Save Go to File Click Save As Type Susan Martin Click OK Close the Family Tree module Quick Link to the Design Aligner Follow the steps as shown above, Open the chart (Ancestors of Susan Martin) in step 42 rather than pasting the chart.
9 Page 1 Premier+ PhotoStitch Wizard Demo with optional Lettering and Frame Create a fun embroidered travel or shopping tote bag. Use the PhotoStitch wizard to change a photograph to stitches. Then add some letters and a frame to finish off the design. 1. Double-click to open the Premier+ Embroidery System. 2. Double-click to open Premier+ Configure. 3. Click the Reset All Modules button. Resetting All Modules ensures that all settings are at their original point. 4. Click the OK button as needed to finish the Reset process. 5. Double click Premier+ Embroidery. 6. Select the File Menu and select Demo Mode. 7. Click the NEW Change Hoop icon in the Quick Access Toolbar. Easy to quickly change your hoop selection or orientation. 8. Set the hoop to a natural orientation and select a 240mmx150mm hoop. 9. Click OK to accept. 10. Select the Wizards Tab and select the PhotoStitch Wizard. 11. Choose the PhotoStitch into Hoop option. 12. Select Create Linear PhotoStitch Embroidery. PhotoStitch Linear is available in Premier+ Extra and you will have access to all the other PhotoStitch options if you are using Premier+ Ultra. 13. Click Next. 14. Click Load a Picture. 15. Navigate to C:\...\Documents\Premier+\Samples\ Premier+Lessons\PhotoStitch.
10 Page 2 Remember to point out that they can easily access photos from your social media locations! 16. Select the paris3048edit3.bmp image. 17. Click OK. 18. Click Next twice. We did not need to edit the angle or crop the image. 19. Select the erase tool and erase the part located under the tower. Removing the background area with help the stitches to create the detail needed in the tower. Zoom in as needed. 20. Click Next three times. 21. Click on Thread Color. 22. Change the thread color to RA 40wt Rayon #2577 (or a color you prefer). 23. Make the following adjustments one by one to see how each setting affects the embroidery file results. Everyone will have different preferences so the following settings are guides. Set the Linear Angle to 57. Adjust the NEW Shade Range setting to 100%. Use the HELP button on this window to assist explaining the Shade Range setting and that Help/guidance is always available. Lower the Scan Depth to 1. Add a checkmark to the Enhanced Detail option. Lower the density to 1, and then return to 2 only if you prefer the looser look. 24. Click Finish. 25. Click Save As in the Quick Access Toolbar. Steps are only needed in class as you can skip them when demoing. 26. Navigate to C:\...\Premier+\MyDesigns and name the embroidery Eiffle Click Save. The VP4 file extension is added automatically. 28. Select Export in the Quick Access Toolbar.
11 Page Select the format needed for your embroidery machine (Like VP3). 30. Adjust any Export setting your format requires (if needed). 31. Click OK. Notice the File Name has been altered to show that this is now exported. 32. Locate C:\Documents\Premier+ \MyDesigns. 33. Click Export. The embroidery is ready to sew! Optional: Add Letters and a Frame 34. Select the File Tab. 35. Click Open. 36. Navigate to C:\...\Premier+\Samples\Premier+Lessons\PhotoStitch. 37. Select the Eiffle1ModifyFB.VP4 embroidery. 38. Click Open. 39. Click OK to overwrite the unsaved version if you get a pop-up. Notice the embroidery file loaded with the hoop it was saved in. This embroidery has been modified to remove the background stitches (Premier+ Modify). 40. Click the Change Hoop icon in the Quick Access Toolbar. 41. Set the hoop to a natural orientation and select a 360mmx200mm hoop. 42. Click OK. 43. Select the View Tab. 44. Click on the Background Wizard. 45. Choose Background Load Previously Saved and Type Garment. 46. Click Next. 47. Click Load Background.
12 48. Select Bags & Hats / Tote Bag from the options available. Page Choose a Tote Bag color you like. 50. Click OK to accept your choice. 51. Click Finish to exit the wizard. 52. Use the Move and Rotate Background tool to position the background image so that the entire hoop area is directly over the surface of the bag. 53. Select the Letters Tab and select the Adina (Script Fonts). 54. In the Letters area Type Paris. 55. Set the Size to 40 mm. 56. Select the Line Type as Pennant Left. Remember if you forget to change the line type or if you would like a different one, Right click on the letters, choose properties and change the line type without having to recreate the letters! 57. Click Apply. 58. Position the Eiffle Tower slightly in the lower right corner. 59. Position the lettering in the upper center left part of the hoop. 60. Adjust the handles to allow for a larger P and a smaller S. 61. While holding the CTRL key drag the lower left selection handle for the lettering and you can adjust the slant of the Line type. This is a special feature that adds flexibility to your line types. 62. Position the selection handle so the top of the selection box is flat across the top. 63. In the Design Panel, double click the thread color used in the Letting and change it to RA 40wt Rayon #2577 (or a color you prefer). 64. Select the Home Tab. 65. Click Select All. 66. Click Group.
13 Page 5 Grouping is a NEW feature. Grouping allows you to select a set of designs and adjust the set without having to combine them each element remains adjustable individually inside the group. 67. Click Alignment Tools. 68. Click Center in Hoop. 69. In the Quick Access Toolbar, Select Life View to preview your embroidery. The Share button in Life View allows you to quickly post designs to your social media pages. 70. Click Cancel to close. 71. Select the Frame Tab. 72. Select Frames. 73. Use the drop-down list to locate and select the 6 th frame in the Classical 5 MC category. 74. Adjust the Margin to 5mm. 75. Take the check away from Group. 76. Click Apply. Adjust the frame as needed to fit in the hoop. Ensure the handles around the frame are square signifying that the embroidery fits in the hoop area. 77. Change the thread colors in your Frame if desired. Show off a Metallic thread or specialty thread! 78. In the Quick Access Toolbar, Select Save As. 79. Navigate to your C:\...\Premier+\MyDesigns folder. 80. Name the embroidery Paris Click Save. The VP4 file extension is added automatically. 82. In the Quick Access Toolbar, Select Export.
