2 Getting Started Creating an Account Downloading TurningPoint Desktop for PC 1. Go to account.turningtechnologies.com. 2. Enter your school or organization address and click Create. 3. Check your and click the link to verify your Turning Technologies account. 4. Enter all required fields as noted by the asterisks. 5. Enter and confirm your password in the fields provided. 6. Select the box labeled By checking this you agree to comply with the End-User License Agreement and Terms of Use. 7. Click Finish. 8. If you have a subscription and/or device ID, enter them in the appropriate box and click Redeem and/or Register. 9. Click Finish. 1. Go to turningtechnologies.com/downloads. 2. Select the PC Install/No Install version. 3. Save the file to a specified location. Downloading TurningPoint Desktop for Mac 1. Go to turningtechnologies.com/downloads. 2. Select the Mac No Install version. 3. Save the file to a specified location. The Turning Technologies account dashboard is displayed. Getting Started

3 Getting Started Device Setup Connecting Receivers and Clickers By default the receiver and clickers are set to Channel 41. If you are the only TurningPoint user within a 200ft radius on Channel 41, simply plug in the receiver and begin polling. If another user is on Channel 41, you must use a different channel to avoid interference. Clickers must be set to the same channel as the receiver. Enabling Mobile Response Devices 1. Open TurningPoint and sign in to your Turning Technologies account. 2. Click Connect Now in the upper right corner of the TurningPoint dashboard. 3. Click Start Session. 4. Communicate the Session ID to your students. 5. Click Close to return to the TurningPoint dashboard. Visit TurningTechnologies.com for instructions on changing clicker channels. 4 PowerPoint Polling for PC Before the Presentation Creating the Presentation 1. Open TurningPoint and sign in to your Turning Technologies account. 2. Click PowerPoint Polling. PowerPoint opens with the TurningPoint ribbon. 3. Open a new or existing PowerPoint presentation. 4. Click New from the TurningPoint ribbon and select Multiple Choice. Setting Correct Answers and Adding Objects (Optional) Setting a correct answer and adding a Correct Answer Indicator allows you to give students a visual confirmation of the correct answer after polling has closed. 1. In the Slide Preferences Pane, click to expand Scoring Options. 2. Select the correct answer from the drop-down menu. 5. Type the question and up to 10 possible answer choices. 3. Type the question and up to 10 possible answer choices. 6. Click outside of the answer box. Saving the Presentation 1. Click File, mouse over Save As and save your PowerPoint presentation to the location you typically save your files. 2. Close PowerPoint. The TurningPoint dashboard opens. PowerPoint Polling for PC

5 PowerPoint Polling for PC During the Presentation Running the Presentation 1. Plug in the receiver (if using clickers). 2. Open TurningPoint and sign in to your Turning Technologies account. 3. Verify the receiver connection and/or connect to mobile devices. 4. Select a Course (optional). 5. Click PowerPoint Polling. 6. Open the presentation. 7. Click Reset and select Session. After the Presentation Generating Reports 1. From the TurningPoint dashboard, select the Manage tab. 2. Select the saved session from the left panel. NOTE Expand the associated course to view the session, or if a participant list was not used, locate the session below Auto. PowerPoint Polling for PC 8. Start the Slide Show. 9. Polling will open automatically on a question slide. Advance the slide to close polling and display the results. Continue advancing through the presentation. 10. When finished running the presentation, click Save from the TurningPoint toolbar and select Save Session (if desired). 3. Click Reports in the bottom right corner. 4. Select a report from the drop-down menu. 5. Click Close when finished.

6 PowerPoint Polling for Mac Before the Presentation Creating the Presentation 1. Open TurningPoint and sign in to your Turning Technologies account. 2. Click PowerPoint Polling. PowerPoint opens with the TurningPoint toolbar. 3. Open a new or existing PowerPoint presentation. 4. Click New from the TurningPoint toolbar and select Multiple Choice. 5. Type the question and up to 10 possible answer choices. 6. Click the Refresh icon. The Refresh icon must be clicked anytime an edit is made to a slide. Setting Correct Answers and Adding Objects (Optional) Setting a correct answer and adding a Correct Answer Indicator allows you to give students a visual confirmation of the correct answer after polling has closed. 1. In the Slide Preferences Pane, click to expand Scoring Options. 2. Select the correct answer from the drop-down menu. 3. Click the Objects icon from the TurningPoint toolbar. 4. Mouse over Correct Answer Indicator and select the indicator of your choice. Saving the Presentation IMPORTANT When editing a slide, or a slide s preferences, verify that the Slide Preferences Pane reflects the appropriate slide number. If it does not, verify that the appropriate slide is selected and click once on the Slide Preferences Pane. 1. Click File, mouse over Save As and save your PowerPoint presentation to the location you typically save your files. 2. Exit PowerPoint. The TurningPoint dashboard opens. PowerPoint Polling for Mac

7 PowerPoint Polling for Mac During the Presentation After the Presentation Running the Presentation Generating Reports 1. Plug in the receiver (if using clickers). 2. Open TurningPoint and sign in to your Turning Technologies account. 3. Verify the receiver connection and/or connect to mobile devices. 4. Select a course (optional). 5. Click PowerPoint Polling. 6. Open the presentation. 7. Click Reset and select Session. 1. From the TurningPoint dashboard, select the Manage tab. 2. Select the saved session from the left panel. NOTE Expand the associated course to view the session, or if a course was not used, locate the session below Auto. PowerPoint Polling for Mac 8. Start the Slide Show from the TurningPoint toolbar. 9. Click Start to open polling. 10. Click Stop to close polling. Press the spacebar, enter/return key or down arrow to advance the slide. If using a mouse, a mouse click also advances the slide. Alternatively, a PresenterCard may be used to advance slides and control polling. Continue until the Slide Show is finished. 11. When finished running the presentation, click Save from the TurningPoint toolbar and select Save Session. 3. Click Reports in the bottom right corner. 4. Select a report from the drop-down menu. 5. Click Close when finished.

8 Before the Presentation Self-Paced Polling Creating a Question List 1. From the TurningPoint dashboard, select the Content tab. 2. Click the Content drop-down menu, mouse over New and select Question List. 3. Name the question list and click Save. 4. Select the question type and answer choices. 5. Optionally, double-click Enter question text to enter questions and answers. TIP Entering the question and answers allows students using web-enabled mobile devices to view the text on their device as well as view the full question in TurningPoint reports. 6. Expand Scoring Options to set a correct answer and assign point totals for each question. 7. Use the arrows at the bottom of the window to navigate through the question list. 8. When the question list is complete, click Close. 9. Click Save and Close. Self-Paced Polling

9 Self-Paced Polling During the Test Administering a Self-Paced Test 1. Plug in the receiver (if using clickers). 2. Open TurningPoint and sign in to your Turning Technologies account. 3. Verify the receiver connection and/or connect to mobile devices. 4. Select a Course (optional). 5. Select the question list below Content. 6. Click Self-Paced Polling. The Self-Paced Polling application opens. 7. Click Accept Logins. a Select the Participant Login option from the dropdown menu. Typically, this option will be off if using a participant list. b Select the Time Limit from the drop-down menu. c Select the Completed Test Message from the drop-down menu. 9. Click Start Polling. A status icon appears when students have successfully started taking the test. 10. Click Stop Polling when all students have completed the test. TIP Click Live Results to view student progress (optional). Self-Paced Polling 8. Click OK. At this time the students may login to the test. 11. Click Save.

Select a report from the drop-down menu. NOTE Expand the associated course to view the session, or if a course was not used, locate the session below Auto. 3. 11 Anywhere Polling During the Presentation Polling Over Any Application or an On-the-Fly Question The Quick Poll feature in Anywhere Polling allows you to ask verbal questions with the option of polling on top of an application, such as a PDF, Word document or web page. 1. Plug in the receiver (if using clickers). 2. Open TurningPoint and sign in to your Turning Technologies account. 3. Verify the receiver connection and/or connect to mobile devices. 4. Select a Course (if applicable). 5. Click Anywhere Polling. 7. Click the Close button on the Anywhere Polling showbar to close polling and display results. 6. Click the Open button on the Anywhere Polling showbar to open polling. Verbally ask your question and give possible answer choices. NOTE To open polling again, click the Open button. Anywhere Polling 8. When you are done polling all of your questions, click the Options icon, mouse over Session and select Save Session.

12 Anywhere Polling After the Presentation Editing a Session (Optional) You may want to edit your session data to include question and answer choices for reporting purposes. 1. From the TurningPoint dashboard, click the Manage tab. 2. Select the saved session from the left panel. The Session Overview screen is displayed. 3. Click Edit Session. 4. To edit the question or answer text, select a question and click the pencil icon on the right. Type the new text in the boxes provided. 5. To set a correct answer, expand Scoring Options and select the correct answer from the drop-down menu. 6. Click Close to return to the question list. 7. Click Save and Close. Generating Reports 1. From the TurningPoint dashboard, select the Manage tab. 2. Select the saved session from the left panel. NOTE Expand the associated course to view the session, or if a course was not used, locate the session below Auto. 3. Click Reports in the bottom right corner. 4.
