Demand For Mobile Internet As with cameras today, the consumer will expect web connectivity in 5 years Main focus is not www. it is about me, getting what I want, and getting it now. Browsers are the new application framework. By 2010 about 400 Million internet enabled mobile devices will ship more than notebooks and desktops combined Accelerated cycle: mobile users expect bandwidth and services 10

ADOBE AND ARM ACCELERATE FLASH AND AIR FOR ARM PLATFORMS Support for Flash Player 10 and Adobe AIR to Bring Rich Internet Application to ARM Powered Devices SAN JOSE, Calif., AND CAMBRIDGE, UK Nov. 17, 2008 At the Adobe 2008 MAX conference, Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) and ARM [(LSE: ARM); (Nasdaq: ARMH)] today announced a technology collaboration to optimize and enable Adobe Flash Player 10 and Adobe AIR for ARM Powered devices, ranging from mobile phones to set-top boxes, mobile Internet devices, televisions, automotive platforms, personal media players and other mobile computing devices. The collaboration is expected to accelerate mobile graphics and video capabilities on ARM platforms to bring rich Internet applications and web services to mobile devices and consumer electronics worldwide. 11

Flash Player 10 Shown On 3 Devices SAN FRANCISCO--Inspired by a new generation of smartphones, Adobe Systems has begun a new, higher-power effort to spread its Flash technology to mobile devices. The company has worked for years on a lightweight incarnation of its Flash technology for mobile phones, but it now is working to bring the full-fledged Flash Player 10 to higher-end smartphones, Chief Technology Officer Kevin Lynch said at Adobe's Max conference here. "We are midst of evolving Flash Player 10 for mobile," Lynch said. "We're taking the full Flash Player and making that run on the higher end of the mobile market." "Our goal (was to make) a billion phones Flash-enabled by 2010," Lynch said. "We're actually going to get 1 billion Flash-enabled phones by 2009." 12

Flash Player 10 & AIR on the ARM Architecture Adobe & ARM are bringing a full optimized version of the Flash Player 10 to the ARM architecture in 2009 Enabling the Flash Player 10 experience to reach a far wider audience than just a PC This optimization will be for the latest v7 & v6 ARM architecture-based processors Using Open Standards to support H/W video and graphics accelerators Offering the optimum balance of performance and battery life 13

Aimed At Multiple Browsers & OSs Targeted to support wide range of browsers Desktop-class browsers Builds upon ARM optimizations from Firefox to Webkit Targeted to support a wide range of OSs Classic ARM OSs Symbian & Windows Mobile New OSs Android & Ubuntu 14

It s Not Just About Phones & MIDs ARM is shipping more than 1B cores a quarter ARM is in top 3 DTVs shipping in the US Browser functionality spreading to a wide range of ARM Powered devices STB, TVs, gaming, PNDs, car infotainment If it has a screen it can be connected Flash Player 10 enables that rich internet experience across multiple screens 15 15

Flash Player 10 & AIR Beyond the Browser Flash Player 10 for User Interface Focus on the UI design not the device Flash Player 10 for widget support Rich widgets for a wide range of devices Adobe Integrated Runtime- AIR Browser-less Run-Time for Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) Built on industry standards Combines the reach of the web with the power of the desktop Content and apps created using Adobe CS-4 Market-leading content creation system 16 16

All Day Use -- ARM Means Low Power World s 2.3Bn mobile phones can be kept charged with 100 Mega-Watts Equivalent to 2 large wind-farms World s 1Bn PCs are on for 9 hours* per day requiring 95,000 Mega-Watts Equivalent to 114 large coal-fired (835MW) power plants * US PCs are on for 9.2 hours per day

Cloud Computing Major initiatives are underway by Microsoft, Google and others Distributed compute resources and services requires Client devices that are smart and mobile Driving major changes in computing devices -- favoring mobile devices that are lowpower/high-performance Wikipedia -- Cloud computing is a computing paradigm shift where computing is moved away from personal computers or an individual application server to a cloud of computers. Users of the cloud only need to be concerned with the computing service being asked for, as the underlying details of how it is achieved are hidden. This method of distributed computing is done through pooling all computer resources together and being managed by software rather than a human. 21

Cloud Computing Device Example -- G1 Graphical UI + touchscreen HSDPA + WiFi Web & Walk Great widgets 3.2 Digital Compass & Motion sensor Android Market ARM11 Powered Web 2.0 centric phone 22
