1 MX Portfolio Organize and collect documents, pictures and experiences to demonstrate activities and practices during student nursing education. Students will be managing areas of their portfolio by: Creating a Portfolio Editing a Portfolio Previewing Portfolio Archive Portfolios Using Portfolio A nursing portfolio provides documented evidence of your achievements and creates records of your professional development and includes clinical and patient experiences. Log onto your Medatrax account Click MX Portfolio from the home page: MX Portfolio Home page: Creating a portfolio Click Create New Portfolio to begin: Note: Create as many portfolios as needed. Only one portfolio may be active at one time.
2 The following page will appear: Enter a name/title for your portfolio: Examples: Freshman Portfolio, My Portfolio, Academic Portfolio, Portfolio (follow up with course instructors for specific requirement for MXPortfolio). Note- The portfolio automatically includes user names. Please do not include personal names in titles. Select a Template: Select from one of three templates. To preview a template before selections, click the picture. Save and continue:
3 Select pages to include in your portfolio: select from available links: Add new link: Add customized links to portfolio: Check boxes: Place check in each box for selected links and save selection: Note- Pages can be added or removed later on as needed.
4 Editing a Portfolio When editing a portfolio the following page will appear: To begin, select the link or page for editing: Note: Portfolio pages/links were established when creating the portfolio. If additional pages/links need to be added or edited, select Add/Remove Pages from navigation on right of edit box:
5 Editing Window Edit dropdown: Use the edit dropdown to cut, copy and paste. Undo- erases the last change done to the document reverting it to an older state. Redo- does any undo function again Cut- process of removing an item and placing it in a temporary location to later be pasted Paste- To insert (text, graphics, or other data) into a document or file Paste as text- discards the content or converts it to text. Select All- To select the entire contents of a document Find and Replace- replace text, formatting, paragraph marks, page breaks and other items
6 Insert Dropdown: Insert video links, images and hyperlinks. Insert video- embed videos by inserting HTML tags (copyright laws may apply to selected videos) Insert image- display an image on a page (copyright laws may apply to selected photos) Insert link- link to other web sources Special Character- Computer-representable character that is not alphabetic or numerical. Horizontal line- to display lines across the screen Anchor- Inserting anchor links is similar to adding hyperlinks. Identify the page section you would like to link to. Once you have located a spot, you can insert an anchor link using the Insert/edit anchor icon (it s shaped like an anchor!) in the editor. Name your anchor appropriately. The anchor name should be something short and easy to remember. Create a link to the anchor you just made. Page Break- start a new page Insert date/time Nonbreaking space- non-breaking space is a character entity which can: create white space between words or web page elements stop the browser from breaking a line in the wrong place.
7 Table dropdown: Insert tables and columns to present data Format dropdown: format fonts and scripts for presentation
8 Document and picture upload: To upload images, select Upload Image from right navigation: Choose a file to upload: Select image and click upload Image : The system will acknowledge the upload was successful: Once all pictures have been uploaded, select Back to Portfolio: If a picture is too large, use a picture editor to reduce the size of the image. Most computers come with an image editor. Here are a few links to edit sizes of pictures: Windows PC- HA aspx Mac-
9 Photo Gallery When editing the portfolio, select the Photo Gallery link (if included in portfolio) Place a check in each picture check box that will be viewed in the gallery: Add a description of the picture to be viewed: When Previewing Portfolio, scroll through the gallery:
10 Uploading Documents To upload documents, select Upload Documents from right navigation: Choose a file to upload: Select image and click Upload Document : The system will acknowledge the upload was successful: Once all documents have been uploaded, select Back to Portfolio :
11 Previewing Portfolios Portfolios may be viewed anytime by selecting Preview Portfolio while editing current portfolio: Archived Portfolios Only one portfolio may be active at a time. To create a new portfolio, the original portfolio must be archived. Select the Archive tab to view previous portfolios:
