1 Year 12 Microsoft Software Claim Procedure St Bede s College, Mentone 20/11/2012 Contents Introduction If you are receiving this document you have elected to purchase your Dell Netbook and wish to claim your entitlement to free software from Microsoft. You are entitled to a copy of Windows and a copy of Microsoft Office. You may choose from the following versions, however only Windows 7 Ultimate will be pre-installed on your Netbook by St Bede s College. Windows 8 Professional, while available as an option to download, is not compatible with the Netbooks. Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade 32/64-bit (English) Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Upgrade 32/64-bit (English) Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 (English) Microsoft Windows 8 Professional Upgrade 32/64-bit To allow these copies to be registered to you as legitimate purchases, you need to undergo the following procedure. Complete Your Registration: If you experience problems clicking the link above, please try copying and pasting the entire link into a browser. 3 To access the software, you need to click on the link in the and go to the website where you will be prompted to register on the screen shown below: Once completed and you have clicked on register, the following screen appears: Page 3 of 9

5 Click on the icon for the operating system of your choice and you will be presented with options to add your choice to the shopping cart the screen look like this: Page 5 of 9

6 Choose one and click on Add to cart (notice the price is Free ). Your Netbook has been imaged with Windows 7 Ultimate, so we highly recommend you choose this option. FAILURE TO CHOOSE THIS OPTION MEANS YOU WILL HAVE DOWNLOAD THE CHOSEN SOFTWARE, WRITE IT TO REMOVABLE MEDIA, RE-FORMAT YOUR MACHINE AND RE- INSTALL WINDOWS YOURSELF. WE WILL NOT ASSIST WITH THIS PROCESS. The DVD Burning required message is only required if you wish to download a backup copy of your software to burn to disk. We have already downloaded and installed the software onto your computer if you have chosen Windows 7 Ultimate. Click on continue (you can return to this step again later if you choose). 7 Read the agreement, complete the fields and click I Accept to confirm your order, the following screen should appear: Click Proceed with order: Page 7 of 9

8 A receipt will appear this has the registration code for your software. Now you can use this code to activate your Windows software. Click on the Students tab to go back to the software choices screen and follow the same procedure to claim your key for Microsoft Office. You will receive confirmation s but they will not contain you registration keys. You can log back in to this site any time for the next thirty days to claim your keys/software (or pay the $4.95 fee for 24 months extended access). Note that your St Bede s account will be cancelled in late January, so if you choose to pay the extended download fee, you will need to go to Your Account on the website and change the address to your own, non St Bede s to be able to receive confirmations of downloads etc. Page 8 of 9

9 To view your keys at any time, simply log in and choose Your Account and click View Details on the product of your choice to see the registration code and other details. Make sure you write down or save a screenshot of all your codes if you do not take the extended download option. Page 9 of 9
