4 1 Introduction 1.1 Validity This document applies to the VideoIP server software SMAVIA Recording Server. The descriptions in this document are based on the software version The figures in this document may differ from the actual product. 1.2 Documents Installation & Activation (this document) The document Installation & Activation contains information about system requirements and intended use. The installation, setup and activation of the software are described in detail. The target audience of this document is trained system integrators. Configuration The document Configuration contains detailed information about the configuration of the software. The target audience of this document is trained system integrators. 1.3 Conventions Instruction are indicated with an arrow ( ). Expressions in bold / italics indicate an element of the user interface. Paragraphs in italics contain additional information and general recommendations. NOTICE NOTICE indicates practices for preventing property damage, incorrect configurations or faulty operations. 4

5 2 General Notes 2.1 Appropriate use The SMAVIA Recording Server is a VideoIP server software for the recording of IP based audio and video streams. It is designed for the installation on systems with Windows *) 7/8 operating system and suitable hardware equipment. 7 3 Installation Administrator rights and an activated user account control (UAC) are required to install the software. ¾¾Close all applications. ¾¾Start the file SMAVIA_Recording_Server_8.x.x_setup.exe. The Select Language dialogue is displayed. Fig. 3-1 ¾¾Select the language for the dialogues of the installation. ¾¾Confirm with OK. The general information dialogue is displayed. 8 The license dialogue is displayed. Fig. 3-3 ¾¾Note the end-user license agreement (EULA). ¾¾Confirm with Agree. The Selection of DBMS... dialogue is displayed. SMAVIA Recording Server needs a database management system (DBMS) for the storage of various data. If a database management system is not installed, the system MariaDB will be installed automatically. Fig. 3-4 ¾¾Confirm with Next. If a database management system is already installed, it is used for the creation of the SMAVIA Recording Server database. The entry of the root password may be required, as described in the following. 8

9 Fig. 3-5 ¾¾Enter the required settings. ¾¾Confirm with Next. The Installation Type dialogue is displayed. The installation as Full version requires the entry of an installation key. It is created individually and shipped with the software when it is purchased. The Installation as Demo version is made without the entry of an installation key. A Demo Version may be used for 20 days. A Demo Version can be conversed into a Full version by entering am installation key. Fig. 3-6 ¾¾Select the relevant Installation type. ¾¾Confirm with Next. 9

10 The Installation Key dialogue is displayed, if the installation type Full version has been selected. The Installation Key created specifically for the ordered license type (Dongle Activation or Online Activation). The change of the associated license type is not possible. The Installation Key enables the generation of a unique serial number for the installed software. The serial number is required for the licensing of additional functions and the activation of the software within a period of 20 days. Fig. 3-7 ¾¾Enter the Installation Key. ¾¾Confirm with Next. The installer offers the option to install the corresponding software SMAVIA Viewing Client for the evaluation of the recordings as well. Fig ¾¾Activate the installation of SMAVIA Viewing Client, if necessary. ¾¾Confirm with Next. ¾¾Confirm the subsequent information dialogue with Next. The installation is carried out. ¾¾Note the displayed progress bars. 11

13 4 Startup After the successful installation SMAVIA Recording Server is automatically started as Windows system service (SRSEve) in the background. The corresponding icon is displayed in the Windows system tray. SRS is running in regular state. SRS is running and a directory is being reserved for the recordings. SRS is running and the user interface is displaying a system message. SRS has been stopped.. The corresponding graphical user interface SMAVIA Recording Server Configuration can be started with the desktop icon or the context menu of the system tray icon. ¾¾Start the user interface SMAVIA Recording Server Configuration The login dialogue is displayed. Fig. 4-1 Note that the login mode Group login is active in the initial state. the default password of the demo version is TEST the default password of the full version is DRS2-xxxxxxxx (serial number). the rights of the user group Administrator are valid in the initial state. 14 The Activation (full version) or Conversion (demo version) dialogue is displayed. Full version The dialogue Activation is displayed after the login dialogue until the software is activated. It allows for the activation of the software by generating and integrating the activation file. It can be hidden in order to access the user interface. It allows for the conversion of the demo version into a full version using a installation key. It can be hidden in order to access the user interface. Fig. 4-3 Conversion dialogue 14

The user interface is displayed in the initial state. Fig. 4-4 In the initial state no directory is yet defined for the storage of the recordings and settings. The allocation of a directory as first step of the configuration is inevitable. Only then settings (for example, changing the language of the user interface) can be made. The set directory for the storage of recordings and settings can be modified and extended subsequently. ¾¾Observe the displayed notification. ¾¾Confirm the notification with OK. ¾¾Proceed as described in the documentation Configuration. 15

16 5 Conversion An installation as Demo Version may be used for 20 days. A Demo Version can be conversed into a Full Version by entering an installation key. The Installation Key created specifically for the ordered license type (Dongle Activation or Online Activation). The change of the associated license type is not possible. The Installation Key enables the generation of a unique serial number for the installed software. The serial number is required for the licensing of additional functions and the activation of the software within a period of 20 days. ¾¾Start SMAVIA Recording Server. The Conversion dialogue is displayed after the successful login. Fig. 5-1 ¾¾Enter the Installation Key. ¾¾Confirm with Next. ¾¾Note the displayed info dialogue. ¾¾Restart SMAVIA Recording Server. The conversion of the Demo Version into a Full Version is complete. The Full Version can already be extended by the purchase of licenses. The therefore required serial number is displayed in the System > Info dialogue. 16

17 6 Activation A SMAVIA Recording Server full version can be used for 20 days with full functional range. Within or after this period, the software must be activated for use. The activation procedure depends on the used installation key that is created specifically for the ordered license type (Dongle Activation or Online Activation). 6.1 Online Activation For the online activation, first of all, a c2d activation file (Customer to Dallmeier) has to be generated. The c2d activation file is sent to Dallmeier electronic via for verification of the license. After a successful license verification, the corresponding d2c activation file (Dallmeier to Customer) is made available via . Finally, this d2c activation file has to be integrated in the SMAVIA Recording Server installation. Meeting the requirements of the most VideoIP sites, the automated exchange of the activation files via Internet is not provided Generation The first step of the activation is the generation of the individual c2d activation file. ¾¾Start the user interface SMAVIA Recording Server Configuration. The Activation dialogue is displayed after the successful login. Fig. 6-1 ¾¾Select the Create activation file option. ¾¾Click Select File. ¾¾Save the HASP_xxxxx.c2d file. 17

18 6.1.2 Verification In the second step of the activation, the generated c2d activation file must be sent to Dallmeier electronic via for verification of the license. Note: The SMAVIA Recording Server installation and license is bound to the device and can not be transferred to another device. Every SMAVIA Recording Server installation and license must be verified separately (individual c2d activation file). If a SMAVIA Recording Server license has been purchased individually, send the c2d activation file with the corresponding order number. If multiple SMAVIA Recording Server licenses have been purchased in one order, individually send each c2d activation file individually with the corresponding order number and order position. ¾¾Ensure to declare the corresponding order number. ¾¾Send the generated c2d file to software-licensing@dallmeier.com. After a short processing time, the corresponding d2c activation file will be send back via Integration Finally, the received d2c activation file has to be integrated into the corresponding SMAVIA Recording Server installation. ¾¾Start the user interface SMAVIA Recording Server Configuration. The Activation dialogue is displayed after the successful login. Fig

19 ¾¾Select the Read activation file option. ¾¾Click Select File. The operating system s file manager is displayed. ¾¾Select the received d2c activation file. ¾¾Confirm with Open. The d2c activation file is integrated automatically. NOTICE After the online activation, the software is attached to the used hardware! The replacement of essential components (motherboard, hard disk, network interface) is not possible. A new installation on a different hardware is not possible.. The activation of the SMAVIA Recording Server installation is complete. 6.2 Dongle Activation For a SMAVIA Recording Server Installation with dongle activation no license verification an exchange of the activation files is required. The corresponding license is integrated on the dongle. ¾¾Connect the license dongle to the hardware. ¾¾Start the user interface SMAVIA Recording Server Configuration. The user interface is displayed after the successful login. The activation of the SMAVIA Recording Server installation is complete.. NOTICE An installation with dongle activation is not attached to the used hardware! The replacement of essential components (motherboard, hard disk, network interface) is possible. A new installation on a different hardware is possible
