It contains important detailed information on operation and on further functions of the software Documents Main Functions (this Document):The document entitled Main Functions contains descriptions on how to operate the essential functions of the software. The target audience of this document is the operator. No special technical knowledge is required. Installation: The document Installation contains detailed descriptions on the installation and commissioning of the software. The target audience of this document is trained and authorized professionals (installers). Operation:The document entitled Operation contains detailed descriptions on how to operate the software. The target audience of this document is the operator of the device. No special technical knowledge is required. Configuration:The document Configuration contains detailed descriptions on the configuration of the software. Safety notes, general information and technical data are additionally provided. The target audience of this dicumment is trained and authorized professionals (installers). Typographical Conventions Instructions are indicated by arrows ( ). Expressions in bold/italics generally indicate a control element on the device (switches or labels) or on its user interface (buttons, menu items). 3 1 Login SMAVIA Viewing Client Login Start the SMAVIA Viewing Client Software. The Login dialog is displayed of automatic authentication is not configured. Enter if access data if required. Confirm with OK. The process is now completed. 4 2 Activation Activating a camera via the System Tree To view the live display of a camera, the camera has to be activated in a split. Open the System Tree. Open the Camera Tree. Open the register of the necessary recorder. The available cameras of the recorder are displayed. Non available cameras are indicated red. Drag&drop the necessary camera icon into a split. Information about the device and the camera are shown in the info-window. Change camera by using the camera icons, if necessary. Quit the live display by clicking the Live-Toggle button. Sever the connection to the recorder by clicking the Cancel button. 4
5 Activating a camera via location plan Cameras can be activated directly from a location plan. Open the System Tree. Open the register Location plans. Drag&drop the icon of the necessary location plan into a split. The location plan is displayed in the chosen split. Double click the necessary camera icon in the location plan, to activate the camera. The choice of split depends on the configuration of the location plan. or Drag&drop the necessary camera icon from the location plan into a split. 6 3 Zoom Zoom into a split The zoom function all makes it possible, to zoom into an active split using the mouse wheel. Move the mouse wheel forward to start the zooming process. The additional zoom window is shown at the right bottom corner of the split. The zoom function only affects the display, recorded material remains unchanged. The zoom functions is available in both, live display and playback-mode. Move the mouse wheel back and forth, to set the necessary zoom level. Move the yellow frame in the additional zoom window via drag&drop, to choose the necessary part of the picture. Move the mouse wheel back to zoom out of the picture, and close the additional zoom window. Display settings Contrast, brightness and saturation of the display can be regulated with the control panel. Click the Configuration button. The options for configuration are shown in the control panel. Choose the Picture Processing tab. A B C Contrast Brightness Color (Saturation) Display settings only affect the display, recorded material remains unchanged. A B C Make the necessary changes using the slider. 6
7 4 Playback Playback mode To review the recorded material of a camera, one has to activate playback mode. Activate the necessary camera. Click the Track selection button. Playback mode is now active. Playback control The playback control buttons can be used after playback mode has been activated. 8 5 Search Search functions To be able to use the different search functions, the necessary camera and playback mode must be active. Activate the necessary camera. Activate playback mode. Click the Search button. Choose the required search function (tab). Simple search Jump to a point in time Set Date and Time. Click Start (A). The appropriate picture is displayed. A Fast search Jump a period forward/backward Set thetime unit and the Step unit. Choose the appropriate picture with Backward (B) or Forward (C). B C 8
9 Index search Search for images with markings Click the Refresh button (E). The list of results is generated and displayed. Choose a result (picture) with Last index (D) or Next index (F). Extended search - Search for images with stored data Set a period (G). Define the search category (H). Enter the search criteria(i). Click Search (J). 10 6 Smart Finder Smart Finder Search pictures with movement in defined sections Set a period (A). A B Define the image section with the mouse pointer as a rectangle (left-click + drag). Adjust the image section if required. Position Left-click + Drag&Drop Size Left-click on the border + Drag&Drop Delete Right-click Proceed as described for max. 4 image sections if required. Click Search (B). The result list will be generated and displayed. C D Choose a result with Backward (C) or Forward (D). The corresponding image will be displayed with indicators for search sections and motion sections. 10
11 7 Saving Saving images and videos SMAVIA Viewing Client SMAVIA Viewing Client offers the option of saving images or video sequences. This function is available in live mode and playback mode. Activate the necessary camera in live mode or playback mode. Save an image Click the Save image button (A). The Export/Print dialog is shown. A Select Modified to save the image as it is displayed(possibly modified). Select Original to save the image as it is received(not modified). Confirm with OK. The Save as dialogue is displayed, if the automatic storage is not configured. Save the image with the file manager. Save a video Click the Save video button (B). In playback mode, one has to navigate to the appropriate section and start playback, before one can start the saving process. The Save as dialogue is displayed if the automatic storage is not configured. Select a folder. Enter a file name. Confirm with Save. The saving of the displayed video starts. Wait for the end of the relevant sequence. Click the Save video button (B). The saving of the displayed video ends. 12 8 Backup Backup of recorded material The backup function offers the option to save sequences of a recorder track, or of several tracks simultaneously. Activate the playback mode of the necessary camera as described above. A C D E Backup Configuration Click the Backup button (A). The Backup panel is displayed. Save as B F G The Select target folder button (B) is active, when the automatic storage is not configured. Click the Select target folder button (B) Save the recording with the file manager. Start time and End time Click the Start time button (C). The Set start time dialogue is displayed. Set the start time. Confirm with OK. Proceed accordingly for the End time (D). Further tracks Click the Filter button (E). The Set filter criteria dialogue is displayed. (Selected track = pushed button) Select the track of further cameras if required. Confirm with OK. 12
13 Split Backup Backup files can be saved in multiple parts. Click the Split backup button (F) The Backup file split dialogue is displayed. Choose the necessary settings. Confirm with OK. Start Backup Click the Start button (G). The backup of the selected recorder tracks starts. The current data of the backup is displayed in the split. Note the progress bar. 14 9 Presets Preset Generation Split views, camera positions and zoom positions can be saved in presets. Generate the necessary combination of split views, camera positions and zoom positions. Open Program > Save preset in the menu bar. The Save settings dialogue is shown. Enter an appropriate name. Confirm with Save. The Preset is saved, and shown in the System Tree under Presets. Preset Activation Drag&drop the necessary Preset icon from the System Tree into a split. or Double-click the necessery Preset icon in the System Tree. The connection to the devices is established. The live display of the different cameras is shown in the defined splits. 14
15 10 Virtual Walk Selection of a virtual walk In a virtual walk, cameras are activated automatically in a split. Right-click the necessary split. The context menu of the split is shown. Select Open > Virtual Walk. The dialog Virtual walk is shown. Choose a Virtual Walk. Confirm with OK. The connection to the devices is established. The live display of the different cameras is shown in the defined splits, one after the other.
