2 Introduction Mt4-Tws Trade Copier is a plugin EA that can copy trades from Metatrader 4 (MT4) account to Interactive Brokers (IB) account. The whole copying process can be real-time. Features: 1. Same Direction Copying. 2. Reverse Copying. 3. Timing Syncing. You can detect both accounts periodically and synchronize them if de-synchronization occurred. 4. Support Market Order Copying and Limit Order Copying. Slippage can be reduced if Limit Order Copying mode is used. 1

3 Installation and Settings 1. Installation First of all, unzip the software. Second, open the MT4 data folder (Click the MT4 menu: File->Open Data Folder), and then copy unzipped files to corresponding sub-folders. After these, you can see Expert Advisors mt4tws_copier in the Navigator of MT4. 2. Turn on API in TWS In the menu Global Configuration API Setting,make Enable ActiveX and Socket Clients checked. More, you can add the IP Address in the Table Trusted IP Address, so that you can avoid to confirm the API connection each time you connect to API. Settings as the picture below: 2

5 Format of IB Symbol When relating IB Symbol to MT4, you need to determine the IB symbol. The IB symbol format is as below: [IB Symbol]-[Exchange Code]-[Security Type]-[Currency] For example, the symbol of Gold Spot Commodity is XAUUSD,trading in exchange SMART,with security type CMDTY and currency USD. The format input should be: XAUUSD-SMART-CMDTY-USD. Besides, if you are a forex trader, you can use format: CCY.CCY, such as EUR.USD. You can obtain the contract information from TWS. Right click the contract, then click Contract Info Description, you can get the contract information at the popped up dialog. For example, the symbol format for picture below is as CNU15-SGX-FUT-USD. 4

6 Run the Software 1.Add Account Sub-window Attach the indicator named Account to the mt4 chart, a sub-window will be shown as below. 2.Add the copying symbols of both accounts There are two methods can relate symbols of both accounts. First of all, you can fill the relating symbols in the configuration file Mt4TwsCopier.ini. The format is [mt4 symbol ib symbol ratio]. Multiple lines can be filled, so multiple symbols can be monitored at the same time. Secondly, you can relate symbols in the dialog when attaching mt4tws_copier. Please see next step Attach mt4tws_copier to Chart. The mt4 side is the symbol of current chart, and the Interactive Brokers side what you input in text box Default Copying IB Symbol. Besides, please note that if you fill ib symbol in the input parameter, the Mt4TwsCopier.ini will not be read. So there will be only one symbol related for both accounts. 3.Attach mt4tws_copier To Chart Drag (or double click) the Expert Advisor named mt4tws_copier to the mt4 chart, click the tab Input, you can see some parameters you need to input, as shown in the below picture. Please minded, if you leave Default Copying IB Symbol blank, the software will read the file Mt4TwsCopier.ini to relate the symbols. Please note settings in the following pictures. 5

Retry Seconds for LMT_ORDER_MODE Host Port If limit order mode is selected, you can set retry time for those orders not be fulfilled in time. When the retrying triggered, limit order will be placed again with current market price. If you do not want the retrying, you can just set the retry seconds larger than effective copying seconds. TWS API Server address, by default. TWS API Server port, 7496 by default. After MT4TWS attached to the chart, it will be shown as the picture following. 7

11 Frequently Asked Questions 1. What is the usefulness of Syncing Syncing is a subsidiary function of Copying. If Syncing is set, you may be able to recover the failure of real-time copying. For example, if the order is still not fulfilled for over the effective copying seconds in limit order mode, you can use Syncing to copy the trades. 2. Are there any slippages for Limit Order Mode? There may have slippage for limit order mode, but may have fewer slippages than market order mode. For limit order mode, the weakness is they have higher probability of failure copying. Especially in the extreme market environment, such as at the Non-Farm Payrolls publication time, the market prices change rapidly, limit orders may have big probability failure to be fulfilled. 3. Can I run the program in Limit Order Mode with multiple symbols? Yes. But you need to open multiple charts to attach the copier. 4. How to determine the ratio of relating symbols? When you need to determine the ratio of the symbol relating, you need to know the Multiplier of symbols in both Metatrader 4 account and Interactive Brokers account. For example, the currency pair EURUSD in MT4 account usually have a multiplier of 100,000 for 1 lot, but the multiplier of EUR.USD Cash in IB TWS is one.
