4 Sneak Peeks of 2015 Upgrade For Ambulatory ***The following slides are intended to be a high-level overview of EPIC 2015 upgrade changes that are likely to affect the workflows of staff and providers in your clinic. This is provided to encourage managers, staff and providers to discuss these high level changes and plan ahead for new workflows when applicable. It is NOT intended to be a comprehensive training document. The Optimization Bulletin will be sent by prior to the Version 2015 Upgrade on May 14, PDF version of high-level overview for printing>>
5 Chart Review Use the Encounter tab instead of the Notes tab to view details of a phone, office, or MHC encounter. Reports are cleaner and more compact. There are new automatic filters that allow for filtering by the last user encounter and the last department encounter.
6 Patient Visit Encounters The Medications activity in the Rooming Tab should still be used for Medication Reconciliation but the clinician or staff will need to hover to flag a medication for removal or add comments to a medication. Allergic reaction types can now be viewed by hovering over allergies in the patient banner. The History Activity has a new look and now includes an option for No known problems. The Apply Macro button has been replaced by a list of Macro icons.
7 Patient Visit Encounters (continued) All clinician office notes will be open to patient viewing on the AVS (if encounter is closed at time of printing) and on My Health Connection. To opt-out an individual note from Open Notes, the clinician will need to deselect Shared with Patient in the Notes tab. When a prescription is signed in the Medications and Orders activity, a window will pop-up in the lower half of the screen to show where the prescription was sent. There is a new Sign Orders feature at the bottom of the Encounter screen to sign orders without being in the Meds and Orders screen. The close Encounter button has been changed to Sign Encounter. A new section called OB/Gyn Status, found under the Rooming tab, will be used to document LMP, specific OB/Gyn Status (i.e. Postmenopausal, Pregnant, etc.), and whether or not the patient is breastfeeding.
8 Triage Encounters Triage is now a chunky button. Triage navigators are now horizontal and not vertical. Triage notes will be in the right sidebar for all end users who have a widescreen monitor. A wrench is available to allow customization of the navigator sections for improved efficiency.
9 Triage Encounters (continued) When routing, the Send and Close Workspace button replaces the Close Workspace function. Pharmacy now exists under Contacts for easy access to update. Pharmacy can now be searched using patient zip code.
10 InBasket In split-pane view, InBasket toolbars will now be on the right-side of the screen to allow the end user to quickly view and act on results/messages. InBasket toolbar buttons can be customized by clicking on Configure Buttons after selecting the toolbar wrench. The Triage folder in In Basket has been retired. All Triage and Telephone Encounters will now flow to Pt Calls/Routing folder.
11 There are many more ways to customize in v2015. You can rearrange the Epic menu (see screenshot below), your main toolbar, the activity tabs in a patient chart, hide rarely used activities, and make activity tabs larger or smaller.
12 New and updated Hyperspace themes will be available with a modern feel and beautiful new color palettes. Key information and important buttons pop against the clean, simple lines of each theme's design elements.
13 Go Live Command Center Support The Command Center will be open from Saturday, May 14 th from 2:00 a.m. Sunday, May 15 th Midnight Monday, May 16 th Friday, May 20 th from 6:00 a.m. Midnight Hours may be adjusted based on call volumes and number of issues.
