4 4 Release Notes LAW PreDiscovery 6.9 Release Notes January 14, 2016 Version The LAW PreDiscovery Release Notes provide a list of new features, resolved issues, and known issues in LAW PreDiscovery version , LexisNexis Early Data Analyzer version , and Early Data Analyzer Web version The current issues may be addressed in an update or other future release of LAW PreDiscovery. On October 15, 2015, LAW PreDiscovery version , Early Data Analyzer version , and Early Data Analyzer Web version were released. This release contains a bug fix for Early Data Analyzer. On December January 14, 2016, LAW PreDiscovery version , Early Data Analyzer version , and Early Data Analyzer Web version were released. This release contains a number of fixes for issues found in previous releases. Enhancements LAW PreDiscovery Enhancements - LAW PreDiscovery The following enhancements are added to LAW PreDiscovery version : Export The _GUID field is added as an option for the File Name in the Export Utility. TIFF/PDF Conversion and E-printing An alternate source application, Native PDF Printer, can be used for printing PDF formatted files. Enhancements - LAW PreDiscovery The following enhancements are added to LAW PreDiscovery version : Deduplication Hash values can be generated for non- items in Outlook PST files via ED Loader. ED Loader The current case name is now displayed in ED Loader. 5

6 6 Release Notes Endorsing Word wrap can be configured on endorsements via the Header/Footer dialog box. Export The Text Encoding list has been added to the Text Options dialog to provide additional encoding options, including addition of a byte order mark. Import A _GUID field is added to LAW PreDiscovery and a Global Unique ID is assigned to new records. _GUID records on existing LAW PreDiscovery cases can be populated using the "Generate document GUIDs" option on the Tools menu. Licensing Software product keys can now be refreshed or deactivated from the License Manager application. OCR LAW PreDiscovery cases created in version 6.9.x and later will store OCR text files in a consolidated folder to avoid issues with long path names. Early Data Analyzer Enhancements - Early Data Analyzer The following enhancements are added to LexisNexis Early Data Analyzer version : Administration The location of the LAW PreDiscovery File Type Management Database can be specified in the Environment Settings for use in the LAW PreDiscovery Direct Export. Export LAW PreDiscovery Direct Export option is available for directly exporting to LAW PreDiscovery with out the use of ED Loader.

7 Enhancements 7 Tagging Documents in Early Data Analyzer and Early Data Analyzer Web can be tagged by importing a list of EdaID values from the Search section. Early Data Analyzer Web Enhancements - Early Data Analyzer Web The following enhancements are added to LexisNexis Early Data Analyzer Web version : Case Dashboard A Document Timeline view is now available on the Dashboard in Early Data Analyzer Web. The Filter Summary section of the Dashboard in Early Data Analyzer Web now displays a doughnut chart for an at-a-glance view of case filters. Explore The Early Data Analyzer Web interface has been updated to improve the usability of the Explore page, as well as other pages within the application. Documents without dates can be included (or excluded) by selecting a checkbox on the Explore page. Tagging Documents in Early Data Analyzer and Early Data Analyzer Web can be tagged by importing a list of EdaID values from the Search section. User Administration Users can now be assigned to multiple clients via the Administration module in Early Data Analyzer Web. Related Topics

8 8 Release Notes LAW PreDiscovery 6.9 Release Notes Resolved Issues Current Issues Additional Information Resolved Issues LAW PreDiscovery Resolved Issues - LAW PreDiscovery The following reported issues are resolved in LAW PreDiscovery version : Installation The ABBYY FineReader OCR engine would not be available for use when installed prior to LAW PreDiscovery being opened. This is fixed in an external install. Please contact Customer Support for assistance. Licensing A 'No more 'LAW_ADMIN' licenses are available' message would display when using a perpetual license. NoLicensesCheckedOutException would randomly occur although valid licenses are present. Near-Dupe and Thread Invalid code points in Unicode text would cause the Thread identification engine to fail with an 'ArgumentException: Invalid Unicode code point found at index' message. TIFF/PDF Conversion and E-printing Print Spooler would not restart after a timeout occurred. Some native applications may not restart when an issue with printing from the application is encountered.

9 Resolved Issues 9 Resolved Issues - LAW PreDiscovery The following reported issues are resolved in LAW PreDiscovery version : Annotations When merging annotations on multi-page documents in LAW PreDiscovery 6.8, images were being rotated automatically. Compound Document Extraction Compound documents with embedded edrawing files may have been extracted as a bin file. ED Loader Certain XLSM files were being assigned an XLSX extension when importing in ED Loader with "Suspect Extension" enabled. When processing large EML files, LAW PreDiscovery would generate an error, and attachments were not extracted properly. Endorsing Improved performance on PDF endorsing. Export When filtering on a tag field that starts with an asterisk (right-clicking the tag in the grid view, and then clicking Filter by Selection), and then selecting "Export," an error message was displayed. Index Fields When creating a new field in Index > Modify fields, LAW PreDiscovery would produce an error when "Unique" was selected and NULL values existed in the field. When creating a field with spaces between the words, LAW PreDiscovery would produce an error when the Unique option was enabled. LAWtsi When launching LAWtsi version 6.8.x, a run-time error occurred.

10 10 Release Notes LAW Management Console Distributed batches for "Update Page Data" were not automatically joined. Distributed OCR using ABBYY 11 failed with "Client excluded from job. Reason: *Abort Condition* Job requires ABBYY Fine Reader Ocr Engine which is not installed on this station" error. Text (OCR, Extracted, Printed) When performing TIFF/PDF conversion on native images with OCR text, the OCR text was not being preserved. TIFF/PDF Conversion and E-printing When performing TIFF/PDF conversion with Color Reduction set to Greyscale, some images would be produced in black and white rather than greyscale. Early Data Analyzer Resolved Issues - Early Data Analyzer The following reported issue is resolved in LexisNexis Early Data Analyzer version : Analysis/Processing Corrected issue where hashes would not match pre 1.9 cases Export When performing extraction, Early Data Analyzer does not properly handle attached messages when the parent format is HTML (as opposed to rich/plain text). 7z files with large attachments (> 25 MB) may fail to extract. Near-Dupe and Thread Cases with large amounts of extracted text would fail to process using the NearDuplicate engine and an 'OutOfMemoryException' message would be displayed. Invalid code points in unicode text would cause the Thread identification engine to fail with an 'ArgumentException: Invalid Unicode code point found at index'.

11 Resolved Issues 11 Indexing Re-indexing could occur when new data is ingested. OCR The OCR process could fail to complete, preventing documents from completing the OCR process. Resolved Issues - Early Data Analyzer The following reported issue is resolved in LexisNexis Early Data Analyzer version : LAW PreDiscovery Direct Export The DuplicateNameException error was logged when exporting mail stores with folders that had the same folder name but contained different letter cases (uppercase versus lowercase). For example: Personal Folders\Inbox versus Personal Folders\INBOX. Resolved Issues - Early Data Analyzer The following reported issues are resolved in LexisNexis Early Data Analyzer version : Case Management Added better error messages when cannot write to INI files. Compound Documents Certain embedded files in Excel documents could not be extracted. Compound documents with embedded edrawing files may have been extracted as a bin file. Thread Analysis When the root of an thread was deleted, threading would fail to complete. Search While editing searches, application would crash upon clicking 'Files and Folders' multiple

12 12 Release Notes times. Selecting the root file folder in the Files and Folders search filter would return incorrect results after map sources was used. User Interface Certain list items would become invisible upon selection. Early Data Analyzer Web Resolved Issues - Early Data Analyzer Web The following reported issues are resolved in Early Data Analyzer Web version : Case Management Early Data Analyzer Web would fail to open a case with 'Could not load file or assembly BitFactory.Logging,..' exception when opening cases from 1.8 or earlier that have not been opened by the Early Data Analyzer desktop application. Resolved Issues - Early Data Analyzer Web The following reported issues are resolved in Early Data Analyzer Web version : Opening a Case When opening a case in Early Data Analyzer Web, if the case was created in Early Data Analyzer version 1.7 or earlier, the following error message may occur: "Write Failed: Unable to open case. Please verify write settings on the case home directory. Could not load assembly 'BitFactory.Logging, Version= , Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=de a294a9' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified" Resolved Issues - Early Data Analyzer Web The following reported issues are resolved in Early Data Analyzer Web version : Content Viewer Tag list in Tag Management dialog would shrink when editing tags.

13 Resolved Issues The pop-out content viewer would close when exporting tags from the Near Duplicate and Threading views. Explore Bulk tagging on conversants containing '<' would fail. Installation Application Pool Identity would be reset on every upgrade. Search Select All checkbox on search list may select all the search terms if search terms were unchecked individually. Tooltip for editing a search set was incorrect. Read-only users were allowed to export searches. Session Management Random log offs would occur when using the Early Data Analyzer Web. User Administration In certain cases, client filters would fail to work on the Administration Dashboard. When editing users assigned to a case, users could not be removed. 14 14 Release Notes Current Issues LAW PreDiscovery Current Issues - LAW PreDiscovery The following items are current issues in LAW PreDiscovery version : ED Loader The Wrong OS or OS version for application automation error occurs when attempting to import documents using ED Loader if a 64-bit version of Microsoft Office is installed on the same machine. LAW PreDiscovery does not currently support 64-bit versions of Microsoft Office. Installing a 32-bit version of Microsoft Office on the machine resolves the issue. When adding a duplicate custodian using different letter cases in the name (uppercase/ lowercase letters), the system displays an error message. This issue only applies to LAW PreDiscovery version 6.5.x and later. This issue will be addressed in a future release of LAW PreDiscovery. Password encrypted archives are not being extracted when using the password file. This issue only applies to LAW PreDiscovery version 6.8.x and later This issue will be addressed in a future release of LAW PreDiscovery. 7zip processing is much slower than the current archive processing due to limitations of the toolkit used for extraction. This issue will be addressed in a future release of LAW PreDiscovery. Decompression of JPEG images in ZIPX archives is not supported. Decompression of JPEG

15 Current Issues 15 images in ZIPX archives is not supported. Warnings are logged for the affected files during the import process. Users can then perform the extraction manually (or with another tool) outside of LAW PreDiscovery. Support for this format will be attempted in a future release. The issue of MIME headers (e.g. Date: Wed, 06 Aug :47: ) being visible (in certain viewers) when saving s to MHTML during ED Loader imports was resolved in LAW PreDiscovery version 6.7; however, this issue still occurs with Note Microsoft Outlook items. This issue is caused by a third-party component used by LAW PreDiscovery. We will attempt to address this in a future release. "Object variable width block not set" error occurs when attempting to load OST files created with Microsoft Outlook Due to the lack of a specification, the 3rd party component used to process OST does not support OST files created with Microsoft Outlook Convert the OST file to PST using third-party component and then process as PST. This issue only applies to LAW PreDiscovery versions 6.5.x and later. This issue will be resolved in a future release. Endorsing When endorsing PDF files with comments, the comments may be lost. This issue will be addressed in a future release of LAW PreDiscovery. Export When exporting a load file with the Export as single page text" option selected in the Text Options dialog box, text files are not exported properly. This issue will be addressed in a future release of LAW PreDiscovery. Import Images over 2GB in size may fail to import.

16 16 Release Notes This issue is due to a limitation of a 3rd party component. To correct the issue, reduce the file size utilizing a 3rd party application that supports images over 2GB prior to importing. Unable to import OST files created with Microsoft Outlook Due to the lack of a specification, the 3rd party component used to process OST does not support OST files created with Microsoft Outlook Convert the OST file to PST using third-party component and then process as PST. This issue only applies to LAW PreDiscovery versions 6.5.x and later. This issue will be resolved in a future release. Licensing When more than one product key is activated and the product keys contain licenses for the same features, some licenses may be missing after activation. This issue only applies to LAW PreDiscovery version and later. This issue will be addressed in a future software release. PDF Support The PDF conversion process may fail on certain Microsoft Office documents on supported 64-bit operating systems (Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2) with 32-bit Office Currently, the workaround is to run the conversion using an alternate system configuration (32- or 64-bit operating system with Office 2007 or 32-bit operating system with Office 2010). Markup (e.g., comments, arrows, lines) existing in (raw image) imported PDFs will not be viewable in the LAW PreDiscovery image viewer and will not appear in the output when printed.

17 Current Issues 17 As an alternative, the PDFs can be imported using ED Loader and, if needed, converted to TIFF or PDF. Scanning The File Type scanner output value may become stuck (cannot be changed from dropdown list) in certain scenarios when using the scan toolbar. Close and re-open the scan toolbar to resolve the issue. LAW will close unexpectedly when the Edit > Insert > Scanned Document function is selected if a scanner is not configured in LAW PreDiscovery. Ensure a scanner is properly configured in LAW prior to accessing this scan function. Software Licensing The LAW Management Console (LMC) may improperly report negative license counts when the license server is set to localhost. This issue only applies to LAW PreDiscovery version 6.8.x and later. Install product keys on one single server and point all machines to that server. TIFF/PDF Conversion and E-printing LexisNexis Image Drivers are renamed when upgrading to LAW PreDiscovery version 6.7 to resolve an issue with a This printer is currently set to black and white mode pop-up error message that halted the conversion process. If the drivers are not renamed during the upgrade (e.g. permissions issue arises), please use the workaround if this error was a problem for you in previous versions or to avoid the issue should it arise in the future. The two image drivers can be renamed manually, provided the user permissions are sufficient. The new names are LexisNexis Image Driver (no quotes formerly LexisNexis Image Driver 5.0) and LexisNexis Image Driver 300 DPI (no quotes formerly LexisNexis Image Driver 5.0 (300 DPI) ). If a second set of image drivers are added during the upgrade, simply remove the original set which include the 5.0 in the driver names. Early Data Analyzer

18 18 Release Notes Current Issues - Early Data Analyzer The following items are current issues in LexisNexis Early Data Analyzer version : Import MD5Hash values differ for the same imported using different versions of Early Data Analyzer. Current Issues - Early Data Analyzer The following items are current issues in LexisNexis Early Data Analyzer version : Environment Configuration The application restart required dialog is displayed, even when no changes are made in the environment settings dialog. This issue only applies to Early Data Analyzer version and later. This issue will be addressed in a future software release. Export Appointment Start/ End date and Time fields [DateAppStart, DateAppEnd, TimeAppStart and TimeAppEnd] are not populated for the Appointment files exported through LAW PreDiscovery Direct Export. Early Data Analyzer does not support.ics files and calendar items. Early Data Analyzer will identify the text in the file and allow it to be searchable, but it does not capture metadata from the item as a calendar item. Therefore, it does not populate that data in LAW PreDiscovery during a LAW PreDiscovery Direct Export. This issue only applies to Early Data Analyzer version and later. This issue will be addressed in a future software release. When MBOX and DBX items are exported using the LAW PreDiscovery Direct Export, the Conversation, TimeRcvd, and DateRcvd fields are not populated. Using the LAW PreDiscovery Export (which uses ED Loader to import files into LAW PreDiscovery) will populate the Conversation, TimeRcvd, and DateRcvd fields like the fields are populated when loading the MBOX file directly into LAW PreDiscovery using ED Loader. This issue only applies to Early Data Analyzer version and later.

19 Current Issues 19 This issue will be addressed in a future software release. When trying to view NSF and PST files in LAW PreDiscovery with the option review parents natively, if the NSF and PST files were imported into LAW PreDiscovery using the LAW PreDiscovery Direct Export, the system presents an error when displaying items from its original mail store. This issue only applies to Early Data Analyzer version and later. This issue will be addressed in a future software release. When performing the LAW PreDiscovery Direct Export, the following fields are not populated in LAW PreDiscovery: _DupID DupCustNames OcrAccuracy _DupMethod DupCustPaths OcrStatus _PS_ARCX DupParentName OrigExt _PS_ATTX DupParentPath PgCount _PS_DIGESTX DupStatus Placeholder_Name _PS_EMBEDX EP* (Extended properties or extended metadata fields) PrintJobName _PS_MDX EndAttach SourceFile _PS_NATIVEX EndDoc# SuspectExt _PS_OLEX FileAccuracy SuspectOLE Attachmt Footer Template AttRange HasAnnotations TiffStatus BatchStation HasExtProps TimeAccessed BegAttach HasPageLimit UserId BegDoc# HasRedaction Volume Categories ImageExt DateAccessed IsRedacted Using the LAW PreDiscovery Export (which uses ED Loader to import files into LAW PreDiscovery) will populate these fields like the fields are populated when loading the files directly into LAW PreDiscovery using ED Loader. This issue will be addressed in a future software release.

20 20 Release Notes Exporting to a long path (exceeding Microsoft Windows file path limitations) will cause the export to fail. The workaround is to specify an export Output Directory that does not exceed Windows file path limitations. The export will attempt to run out-of-date searches prior to exporting to ensure the correct documents are queued (expected behavior). However, if the export is canceled, Early Data Analyzer will complete the search execution instead of cancelling immediately. Similarly, if a search error occurs, Early Data Analyzer will continue to execute all applicable searches prior to failing the export. This issue will be addressed in a future software release. Filters Custom hash values cannot be imported from a folder if the path exceeds Microsoft Windows file path limitations. If possible, shorten the path to the folder prior to importing the hashes. Import Decompression of JPEG images in ZIPX archives is not supported. Warnings are logged for the affected files during the import process. Users can then perform the extraction manually (or with another tool) outside of LAW PreDiscovery. Support for this format will be attempted in a future release. An exception may occur when clicking the Edit link to customize the folder selection on the Import tab if the folder path exceeds Microsoft Windows file path limitations. While the files within the folders marked for inclusion should still import successfully, please perform quality control to ensure accuracy or place in a shorter path if possible prior to import. Unable to import OST files created with Microsoft Outlook Due to the lack of a specification, the 3rd party component used to process OST does not support OST files created with Microsoft Outlook Convert the OST file to PST using third-party component and then process as PST.

21 Current Issues 21 This issue only applies to Early Data Analyzer versions 1.5.x and later. This issue will be resolved in a future release. Near-Duplicate Analysis Near-duplicate analysis may be run on a case after re-indexing. The near-duplicate process can be disabled prior to re-indexing. Reporting The case name, under which LAW PreDiscovery Direct Export is performed, does not display correctly in Export Report. This issue only applies to Early Data Analyzer version and later. This issue will be addressed in a future software release. The Document Timeline report may fail with an unhandled exception in larger cases (e.g. 10 million documents). Restrict the date range to include fewer documents to avoid this issue. This issue will be addressed in a future software release. Early Data Analyzer Web Current Issues - Early Data Analyzer Web The following item is a current issue in Early Data Analyzer Web version : Open the case in Early Data Analyzer Desktop prior to opening the case in Early Data Analyzer Web. Once the case has been opened in Early Data Analyzer Desktop, the error will no longer occur for the case when opening the case in Early Data Analyzer Web. For an automated workaround, please contact Technical Support. This issue only applies to Early Data Analyzer version and later. This issue will be addressed in a future software release.
