Connected Driver 2.0 App Changes On 9/26/16 an update will be released to the connected driver app. This update will require drivers to log in to the app again and may cause some confusion.

1 Connected Driver 2.0 App Changes On 9/26/16 an update will be released to the connected driver app. This update will require drivers to log in to the app again and may cause some confusion. If the driver opens the app and it has not yet been updated they will be prompted for the update (this can depend on when their phone is set to check for updates). When the Drivers first open the app after the update they will be prompted with several screens that will explain to them the changes made with the update. The drivers do have the option to skip this message so they may not notice the changes until they are in the app and may have more questions.

3 The confusion that drivers may run into here is the fact that they were logged in to the app prior to the update and have to log in again after the update. If they no longer know their password they can use the Don t remember your password option to be ed the reset instructions. Once the driver logs into the app they will be asked to link their driver profile. This will be their same driver ID and password that they would use to log into their in-cab system.

4 Dashboard Once the link is successful it will take them to the new and improved dashboard screen. This screen is similar to the old version. It will give them a snapshot of their available hours as well as other useful info. The driver may see a message that says connecting to the cloud this is just the device trying to retrieve the drivers info.

Safe mode If the vehicle is in motion and moving more than 20 mph the app will go to safe mode. This is determined by the GPS on the phone and will not be controlled by the setting in the PFM.

They have the option to press the I am a co-driver button to leave the safe mode screen after which it will give another screen that recommends that you don t use the app while driving. The safe mode screen will also show them their current speed as well as how many trips and messages that the driver has to review. This screen will NOT lock them out of their entire phone, just the connected driver app.

Selecting the HOS (hours of service) menu will give them basic info about how many hours they currently have available. An important thing to remember with this menu is that the red text indicates the last update. This is dependent on both when the unit in the truck communicates to the PFM and when the app communicates to our servers. If they select Go on-duty or Go off-duty they will be taken to a page that simply asks them to enter a remark and their location (the location info will input automatically if the driver has their GPS feature on their phone turned on). This would then show on the drivers logs the same as a duty status change from the previous app or from the driver center website.

9 Messaging One of the features that have changed greatly in the new app is messaging. You can access this by selecting the envelope at the bottom of the screen. You will first be brought to a page that shows all of your Channels. Channels are previous conversation chains. They will be removed from the list 7 days after their most recent reply (Note: Any messages in the app sent prior to the update will no longer be visible). You can also use the search feature to find a conversation by keyword. To start a new conversation simply hit the + icon at the bottom of the screen.

Once you create the new conversation you will have the ability to add people below (the people would be other connected driver app users in your CID).

As you type the users name it will recommend users that you may be looking for. If you get a message while you are elsewhere in the app the alert will show at the bottom of the screen and will also trigger a notification on your phone (much like a text message). The messages will be received within several seconds of the send button being pressed (assuming that your phone has a network connection).
