2 The company IBAK Robotics develops and manufactures electrically driven cutting, grinding and robots for use in sewer repair. Electrical cutting and grinding in sewers is a new technological development, which was started back in 2007 and has since reached market maturity. As the developers had already gained extensive experience in the field of sewer robotics, they believed the time to be ripe for the next logical development step: equipment of their robots with electrical drives. The benefits of this were perfectly clear even back then: The grinding performance, handling and energy consumption of the IBAK grinding robots are unique on the market. In contrast to hydraulically or pneumatically powered systems, electrically driven robots operate without loud, heavy and energy-intensive compressors, in addition to having significantly lower operational costs. They are also beneficial from a health and environmental viewpoint, thanks to virtually noise- and emission-free operation. With a variety of mobile attachments, vehicle add-ons and rented systems for repairing sewage pipes, IBAK Robotics can adapt flexibly to satisfy individual customer requirements. The systems are developed, assembled and maintained by our highly qualified team at our Rheinstetten plant. 2

3 In order to expand the production capacities a new plant is built in Durmersheim which is very close to the old building in Rheinstetten. This new facility will offer enough space for professional serial production, repair and service for the IBAK Robotics products. The Durmersheim plant offers about 1200 square metres building space, where we will be able to provide high quality service also for all IBAK products. By working with IBAK, IBAK Robotics can ensure that our customers have a com petent and worldwide service and sales network at their disposal. 3

8 AlliGator The AlliGator is the largest electric cutting and grinding robot by IBAK Robotics for pipes with dimensions from 230 to 800 mm. The system is operated from a mobile system (or one installed into a service vehicle). The clamping cushions integrated between the upper and lower mobile housing can be filled with pressurised air where required. The clamping of the cushions presses the device's wheels against the sewer pipe walls, thus increasing the traction of the camera tractor. This gives the robot a secure grip within the pipe and prevents vibration, allowing the cutting and grinding task to be executed precisely. The other advantage is that the robot is always positioned in the centre of the pipe which makes grinding more accurately and user-friendly. Various wheel sizes and wheel attachments allow you to adapt the camera tractor to the size and shape of the pipe, so that the cutting module is always positioned in the centre of the pipe. The cutting and grinding unit can move on three axes: Axial movement (back and forth) is controlled by the forward or backward movement of the camera tractor. The rotating module allows reconstruction components to rotate by 360 in both directions (clockwise and counter-clockwise). Upward/downward motion is handled by a lift device on the robot head (stroke up to 195 mm). An additional cutting head mounting (providing a 4th axis) allows the cutting head to tilt. To ensure that the operator always has a clear view of the area being worked on, dust from the process is blown out of the sewer pipe using a ventilation system. The pan and rotate colour camera can be cleaned during operation using water and a rubber blade. 8

10 MiniGator The MiniGator can be used in pipe dimensions of 175 to 300 mm and is operated by a mobile system (or one installed within the vehicle). Just like the larger AlliGator, the MiniGator is also equipped with clamping cushions on its camera tractor for best possible traction and positioning, and with a variety of wheels and wheel fittings. It can also move forwards and backwards, up and down and to the right and left. The lift device on the MiniGator provides a possible raised height of 125 mm. A fourth axis for tilting the cutting tool can be installed. The reconstruction components can be rotated by 360. This allows you to work flexibly and efficiently. As with the larger AlliGator, camera cleaning is available for the pan and rotate colour camera, as is pipe ventilation. 10

12 FlexiGator The transportable FlexiGator system can be used in pipe dimensions from 100 to 200 mm. It is thus particularly suitable for use in lateral pipes. The system consists of a splash water resistant control box, a cable winch, a supply unit and the FlexiGator itself. This modularity makes the FlexiGator transportable. The 60-metre-long hybrid supply line allows it to be employed in a wide range of applications. The brushless electric motor powers the cutter spindle via a flexible camshaft. This construction allows the high-performance motor to be positioned on the rear of the robot, giving it plenty of space in the working environment. The FlexiGator is equipped with two cameras: one fixed colour camera for forward vision and another pan and rotate colour camera to give you a view of the area being worked on. This camera gives an excellent view of the working area. This cutting and grinding robot is operated using only electricity. All you need is a power outlet to be able to work with the system flexibly and efficiently. The FlexiGator is easy to operate and can be used without any additional equipment. 12

14 Pan and rotate colour camera The new pan and rotate colour camera is based on IBAK know-how and technology. It has been developed especially for use with electric cutting and grinding robots. It is waterproof and designed to provide a view of all repair and grinding work. Its generous rotational area, along with an LED matrix, ensures the best possible view and lighting of the area being worked on. The camera lens and the LED matrix can be reliably cleaned during opera tion using water and a rubber blade, thus guaranteeing a permanent clear view. With the help of a gravitation sensor the operator has a better orientation in the sewer. The pressure sensor informs permanently about pressure tighness.

15 Mobile/Installed system The system is available either as a mobile or installed system. The AlliGator, MiniGator and all IBAK reconstruction components are all operated from it. The cable winch is available in two sizes for hybrid cable lengths of 100 or 150 m. Only a single cable is required to operate electric cutting and grinding robots. This cable has a diameter of 28 mm and is lead by a cross spindle. The cable winch module is supplied by an electrical drive; it is equipped with a metre counter, speed control and an electrical switch box. Two integrated water pumps and water tanks cool the cutting motor and clean the camera. 15

16 BK The control box IBAK BK is easily transported in the box housing thanks to its compact design. Installed into a vehicle as well as a portable unit, BK facilitates the operation of IBAK robots and IBAK inspection systems. All functions of the robot, camera and the camera tractor can be controlled and operated with the two joysticks, the control buttons and the integrated keyboard. At the same time, the operating status of the individual system components is clearly indicated on a 5.7 colour display. The actual grinding and inspection is monitored from a 12 TFT colour monitor with excellent picture reproduction, which is installed in the lid to ensure user-friendliness. In addition, texts and symbols can be overlaid on the video picture via the keyboard and an integrated data display generator. Optionally, the BK control box can also be equipped with a PC module for software use (IKAS evolution and IKAS Gator Software). The video images can be digitised in MPEG format. Furthermore, an external mouse can be connected to the PC module and data transfer is also possible via the USB port or a network interface (LAN). The video data in MPEG 4 format can be transferred to a memory card (Accessory SD-Option) without using your existing (or with a switched off) PC. The firmware update can be carried out by the user with the aid of a standard SD card. 16

17 BS 3.5 / BS 7 IBAK BS 3.5 and BS 7 are operating systems for IBAK Robotics grinding systems and IBAK inspection systems for fixed installation in a vehicle. This central control and operating unit consists of an ergonomically designed control panel, a 19 rack and a keyboard. All current IBAK Robotics robots, all IBAK tractors, winches and cameras can be operated with it, the connected components are automatically identified by the system. The BS 7 copes with cable lengths up to 500 m for IBAK systems and can also control all IBAK PANORAMO systems. The robot and the camera are operated in a user-friendly manner with both joysticks. It is also possible to stipulate which joystick is to be responsible for the operation of individual components, by means of a preset implemented via the integrated touch-screen in the control panel. The touch-screen also offers the user numerous other possibilities, such as an information menu where all assembled components and components identified by the system are displayed on a colour display. In addition, various features can be controlled, such as light intensity, different functions of the robot, the camera and the tractor as well as further system-relevant options. Damage descriptions, repair jobs, symbols or comments entered via the keyboard can be overlaid with the integrated data display generator into the video image. Furthermore, the connection of video recording devices is also possible. Spoken comments can be recorded using the integrated microphone in the control panel; the audio output enables saving of these voice-overs synchronously to the inspection video. 17

18 KW 104/ KW 204 In order to be able to combine grinding work with inspection it is useful to add a space-saving inspection system to an IBAK Robotics vehicle. The KW 104 or KW 204 are small cable wiches that are able to fullfill these needs. The winches are portable or installed motor-driven cable winch which can hold up to 100 m or 200 m of camera cable, which transmits a high image quality. The powerful motor ensures wounding up the camera cable. Furthermore, length measurement of the wound camera cable is integrated in the cable winch. So, it is possible to read off the location of the camera in the pipe at any time. In combination with a T66 tractor and an Orion 2.7 camera you have the option to add an inspektion system to your grinding vehicle which is simple and easy to use. You can use the same control systems to operate both IBAK grinding robots and IBAK inspection system which saves time and cost! 18

19 Capstan winch Technical details The capstan winch is designed for pulling in linings and lighting chains for repair. The removable wheels and a folding handle allow the unit to be transported easily by a single person, as well as permitting it to be used even in hard to access locations. This feature makes it unique on the market. Its lightweight aluminium frame makes the 82-kilogram capstan winch easy to handle. It is positioned directly over the manhole for pulling in lining or chains of lighting. The winch is driven by a 4-stroke petrol engine, giving it a maximum pulling power of 12 kn (1.2 T).
