3 General Description SMS Alert Software application allows assigning SMS alerts to contacts, groups of users and profiles. 4 How to register SMS Alert The trial version of the software is limited for 10 days. The full version of the software is obtained by a license code provided upon purchase. The license code is based on the unique IMEI provided and the application can be used exclusively on the device it is licensed for. The license cannot be retrieved and applied to other devices. You can also buy the software directly from your mobile phone using your credit card. To buy the software you should press Options Buy and follow the instructions. How to install SMS Alert Please transfer the.sis file to your mobile phone via Bluetooth, IRDA or Cable. After that, follow the installation instructions on the mobile screen. You can install SMS Alert either on your phone memory or on the MMC. Working with SMS Alert How to start SMS Alert Application can be opened in following ways (depending on the phone): Clicking on the Menu button SMS Alert Clicking on the Menu button My Own/Programs SMS Alert General information SMS Alert application is meant to assign the different alerts to a proper contact, group of contacts or profile. The tone chosen by you will be played when you receive SMS from certain contact or group. Additionally, you can also manage the Nokia profile SMS alerts in the SMS Alert application. First Application Start At first application start you will be shown the message to activate the Autostart or to turn it Off. You will be able to change this option also in the software settings afterwards. It is recommended that you turn the Autostart on, so SMS Alert will be booted together with your phone and you will not forget to turn it on. 4

To create a new SMS alert for a contact or a group you have to choose Options New. Note! In Profiles there must be at least one profile active, otherwise you won t be able to create new SMS alert. You should fill in the following fields in order to create new SMS alert: 5

6 Message tone - from a drop-down list of tones you must choose one Assign to - is set to assign the chosen tone for a contact or group of contacts. 1. Choosing contact you can see the list of the contacts, from which you can with multiple selection choose contacts that he will assign the tone to. 2. Choosing group of contacts you can see the list of groups, from which you can choose only one that he will assign the tone to. Ringing volume - the level of volume is set for each message tone Ringing type - the way the tone will ring; there are such types as: 1. Ringing 2. Ascending 3. Ring once 4. Beep once 5. Silent Example: You would like receive messages from John with the sound XXX. To achieve this you have to: Choose the sound XXX from the list of tones at the Message tones field Select Assign to field and you will have the opportunity to choose Contact or Group Select John from the list of contacts and press Ok 6

In the process of working with SMS Alert you can change SMS alert sounds for each existing profile, and select profiles, on which the software will be activated. All profiles are activated by default. You can deactivate the profiles from the list. In this case the SMS alert will not work when your mobile has this profile activated. Attention: if you make any changes manually in the Nokia native profile, these changes may affect SMS Alert functionality. So if you use SMS Alert it is better to make all changes in Profiles tab inside the SMS Alert application. 8

9 Editing profile SMS alert To edit a profile SMS alert you have to choose Options New in the Profiles inset. The alert you choose here will be played when the profile is activated. Note! SMS alert for a Contact has bigger priority then SMS alert for a profile! You should fill in the following fields: Message tone - from a drop-down list of tones you must choose one Ringing volume you should set the level of volume for each message tone Ringing type - the way the tone will ring; there are such types as: 1. Ringing 2. Ascending 3. Ring once 4. Beep once 5. Silent Example: You want to receive messages with the tone XXX when the Profile Normal is active. To achieve this you need: 9

10 SMS Alert Options Choose profile Normal from the list of profiles at the Profile tab Choose the tone XXX from the list of tones from the Message tone field Set the volume level at the at the Ringing Volume field Choose the ringing type from the proper filed After pressing Ok all changes will be saved When you press the left soft key Options you have the following possibilities: Activate/ Deactivate - make the previously selected profile active or inactive Edit edit the settings of the SMS alerts Settings settings of the software, which you can change Register field for entering Registration Code Help short info for user how to use the software About short info about company and contacts Exit exits the application SMS Alert Settings 10

11 In order to change SMS Alert settings, you should press the left soft key Options Settings. You will be able to change the following settings: Active here you can activate or deactivate the software Autostart here you can turn autostart on or off. How to uninstall SMS Alert In order to uninstall SMS Alert, please go to the Menu System Applications Manager, choose the SMS Alert Application from the list and uninstall it in the usual way.
