4 What is Pdf+? Pdf+ for S60 3rd edition and 5 th edition smartphones allows you to view Portable Document Format (PDF) document files, also known as Adobe Acrobat files, on your S60 3rd edition and 5th edition smartphone. Optimized for mobile phones, Pdf+ is very easy to use, fast, small and packs a lot of features. Compatibility The S60 3rd/5th edition distribution of Pdf+ is for S60 3rd edition and 5 th edition smartphones, such as the Sony Ericsson Satio, the Samsung Omnia HD (i8910), the Nokia N97, the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music, the Nokia E72 and the Nokia E90. Visit for the latest information on compatibility. Editions Pdf+ comes in three editions, Pdf+ Basic, Pdf+ Standard and Pdf+ Pro. Pdf+ Basic offers the basics of PDF viewing like searching, zooming and going to a specific page. Pdf+ Standard adds bookmarks, links, saving and opening of password-protected documents. Pdf+ Pro lets you print documents, and create PDF documents as printer output using our PdfPrinter product. Pdf+ Basic and Pdf+ Standard can be used on all S60 3rd edition and 5th edition devices. Pdf+ Pro is only available for Nokia Eseries devices that have printer support. These devices have a Printers application, generally in the Office folder. It is possible to upgrade Pdf+ Basic to Pdf+ Standard by purchasing the Pdf+ Standard Upgrade. To upgrade from Pdf+ Standard to Pdf+ Pro purchase Pdf+ Pro Upgrade.

5 Buying Pdf+ Pdf+ can be bought from a number of sources. The most convenient way is to use your device's built in App Store. The latest models generally have an App Store built in, or you can download and install it from your device manufacturers website. You need to use the App Store's search function to look for Pdf+. When buying in an App Store, Pdf+ will delivered and installed automatically. You can also buy Pdf+ directly at our website at After you have bought it, Pdf+ will be sent to you as a sis file, which has to be installed on your smartphone. You can also buy Pdf+ from a number of resellers on the Web. Please check our website at for the list of our resellers. Again, you will be sent the Pdf+ sis file, which you can install on your smartphone. Installing Pdf+ All editions of Pdf+ are installed as a sis file. Check the user manual of your smartphone if you are not sure how to install a sis file on your smartphone. When you install Pdf+ Standard Upgrade, or Pdf+ Pro Upgrade, you need to close all running copies of Pdf+ first. This ensures that the upgrade will be picked up after installation by Pdf+. When you install Pdf+ Pro or Pdf+ Pro Upgrade, you need to install the PdfPrinter component separately. Check the PdfPrinter user manual for details Using Pdf+ Start Pdf+ by selecting it's icon in the menu, and executing the Open command. You can set the application folder for Pdf+ by selecting it and executing the Move to folder command. On most phones you can also put Pdf+ on the Home screen.

6 The File View Once Pdf+ is running, it displays a list of PDF documents and folders in it s File View. If the screen is wide enough, Pdf+ will also display the date of last modification and the file size. You can scroll up and down to select a document. On touch screen devices you can also select a file by touching it, and you can drag the list to reveal more files and folders. You can scroll to the left to select the Recent Files folder, and to the right to select a different drive, if your smartphone has one or more memory cards. To open a document or a folder, press the the Return key or touch it twice, first to select, then to open it. When you open a folder, the navigation bar shows where you are in the folder structure, and the title bar shows the name of the folder. When you have opened a folder, press Back to go up one level in the folder structure. Press Exit to stop running Pdf+, or press Options and select: Open to start reading a document. Send to send a file to another user. Delete to delete a document or a folder. Move to folder to move a file to another folder. New folder to create a new folder. Rename to rename a file or folder. Sort to sort the list of files and folders. Settings to open the settings view. Help to display the help text. About Pdf+ to display information about the program. Exit to stop running Pdf+. When you open a password-protected document, Pdf+ asks for a password. If you don't know the password, you cannot open the document.

7 The Page view Once you opened a document, Pdf+ starts with displaying the first page in the Page view. You will see the title change to the name of the file. The navigation bar tells you which page Pdf+ is displaying, how many pages there are in the document, and whether it is still busy rendering the page. Use the scroll keys to move around the page. On touch devices, you can also drag the screen around. Even while Pdf+ is rendering a page, you can move around the page, or select a command from the menu. Only when Pdf+ is rendering a big image it doesn't respond to your commands. Wrapped mode When displaying a document, Pdf+ can be in two basic modes, Unwrapped and Wrapped. In Unwrapped mode, Pdf+ displays a page as it would look when it was printed or displayed on a PC. In Wrapped mode, Pdf+ re-flows the text on the page to make it fit the small screen of your smartphone. You'll notice that in Wrapped mode no images or line drawings are displayed. There are also some functions that do not work in Wrapped mode. Commands Pdf+ has a number of ways to accept your commands: the Options menu, keyboard short cuts, a tool bar and touching links on the screen. On touch devices, Pdf+ will show a toolbar. In full screen mode the tool bar has more buttons than in normal screen mode. To select a command, press Options. Pdf+ only lists a command when you can actually execute it. For instance, on the first page of a document, you can only go to the next page, and not to a previous page. And another example: if the page does not contain links, the Next link command is not listed. On touch screen devices in full screen mode, often-used commands are on the toolbar. Most other commands can be accessed by pressing. Moving around the page, and going to other pages If you execute Options > Go to > 0 Move next, press 0 or the space bar, or in the tool bar, Pdf+ displays the next section of the page. When Pdf+ is in Column mode, Move next will, at the bottom of the page, move back up to the next column. Normally Pdf+ will move to the next page. A column is defined as having the width of the screen. In Column mode, Pdf+ is not in Wrapped mode, and vice versa.

8 To go to the previous page, Options > To to > 1 Prev. page or press 1. To go to the next page, Options > Go to > 3 Next page or press 3. Options > Go to > 2 Go to page or pressing 2 display the Go to page dialog, where you can enter the page number to go to. Searching Display the Search dialog by Options > Find, pressing 7 or in the tool bar. Enter the text you are looking for and press OK. Pdf+ will search for the first occurrence of the search text and highlight it. It will also change the Back button to Cancel and add the Find next button to the tool bar. To search for the next occurrence, Options > 9 Find next, press 9 or to search for the next occurrence. Cancel a search by pressing Cancel, or tap the screen. from the tool bar. Cancel will be replaced by Back and is removed Finding and following links (Pdf+ Standard, Pdf+ Pro) If there are links on a page, Options > 5 Next link will go to the next link. Depending on the kind of link, Options > Website opens the linked website, Options > send an , Options > Call will dial the linked phone number and Options > Follow link will follow the link inside the document. On touch screen devices, touching a link highlights it and touching it again follows it. By pressing a link, a pop up menu will show the kind of link. Press the command in the pop up menu to execute. Tap the screen outside a link to deselect the link. Zooming Zoom in with Options > Zoom > 4 Zoom in, or press 4, and zoom out with Options > Zoom > 6 Zoom out, or press 6. Options > Zoom > Zoom width will adjust the zoom level to set the page width to be the same as the screen width. Options > Zoom > Zoom displays the Zoom dialog, where you can set a zoom level. Changing the display Switch to Wrapped mode: Options > Display > # Wrap to screen or press #. Switch back to Unwrapped mode, Options > Display > # Don't wrap, or press # again. To use the entire screen, Options > Display > Full screen, press * or press or in the tool bar. Options > Display > Normal screen, pressing * again or pressing or in the tool bar return the screen back to normal. Options > Display > Landscape forces the device in landscape mode, and Options > Display > Portrait forces it in portrait mode. To rotate the page, use Options > Display > Rotate left and Options > Display > Rotate right.

9 Printing commands (Pdf+ Pro only) Options > Printing options > Print as image Render the page to a bitmap, and then print the bitmap. Use this option when the normal printing doesn't produce the right results (Pdf+ Pro). If this option is not turned on, Pdf+ will use the fonts available in the printer. If the right font is not available, or the font doesn't contain all necessary characters, the printout will look odd and/or unreadable. This will often happen with Chinese and Japanese documents. If this option is turned on, the page will look the same as on the screen. Settings Use Display > Settings > Settings or to open the settings view. Use Display > Settings > Fonts to set the font preferences. Other commands Use Options > Display > Column mode to set Column mode and Options > Display > Normal mode to unset Column mode. Use Options > 8 Bookmarks to display the bookmarks view (Pdf+ Standard, Pdf+ Pro). Use Options > Save to save a copy of the document (Pdf+ Standard, Pdf+ Pro). Use Options > Document info to display information about the document that the creator of the document added to it, such as the title and the creation date. Options > Help displays the help text Options > About Pdf+ displays information about Pdf+ itself. To stop reading a document, use Options > Exit to close Pdf+, or choose Back to return to the file view. The Bookmark View The Bookmark view displays a list of bookmarks (Pdf+ Standard, Pdf+ Pro). Press Back to return to the Page view. Scroll up and down to move up and down the list of bookmarks. Press the Follow button or on to follow a bookmark. Press right on the scroll key, or on to open a nested bookmark or to follow a normal bookmark, press left on the scroll key or on to close an expanded bookmark. The navigation bar shows you whether you can scroll to the left or right.
