1 Welcome to the UPENN EMT Student Calendar Overview Welcome to the Upenn EMT Course As a reminder: 1 Difficulty: Difficulty is in the perception of the user. However, based on polls from previous students this course could be compared to a college course that is 4-5 credit plus a lab. 2 Time Commitment: This course will meet on-site for classes hours per week to review PowerPoint, lectures and hands-on labs. This does not include study time or assignments Course Dates: Attendance for this course is very strict. Please or call to discuss conflicts prior to registration. Accommodations may not be available after the refund for conflicts. What is included: Your course fee includes: textbook, on-line access, diagnostic kit, final course cognitive retest, final course psycho-motor retest. What is NOT included: Child abuse clearance, Criminal History, Drug test when applicable, NREMT cognitive exam with Pearson Vu, transportation to patient contact sites, missed labs, missed exams, mid-terms, exam retests. 6 REFUND Policy: The last day for refunds is 16 days prior to the Administrative Night. After this date refunds will not be permitted for any reason. Refunds are not given after the refund date regardless of registration date. Please review schedule prior to registration for conflicts and work load. 7 Prior to Administrative Night: Please complete ICS 100, ICS 700, Introduction to Hazmat links are located on the course information page. Please have immunizations completed and ready to turn in on Administrative Night. If requesting course accommodations please complete the necessary paperwork from the PA Dept. of Health and NREMT.
2 8 9 Accommodations: No accommodations will be implemented until approved by the PA Dept. of Health and NREMT. So please turn in as soon as possible. Misses Labs / Exams / Retests/ Mid-terms: The cost of any make-up is not included in the cost of the course. It is the student's choice to miss a class. However, there is a strict attendance policy. Any missed class, missed exam must be made-up. Arrangements should be made prior to course for known days that will be missed. Students are required to pass each MOD with a 75% or better. If a student receives a 74% or below they must retake the exam. The cost of the retest is not included in the cost of the course. Mid-terms are only required for those that double fail a MOD or do not have a 75% cumulative (MOD 1-3 or MOD 4-6). The cost of mid-terms is not included in the cost of the course Successful Completion: See Successful Completion for located on course information page Passing the course: Passing the course does not guarantee employment, does not guarantee passing PA State psycho-motor, NREMT cognitive exam. Does not guarantee becoming a PA EMT or NREMT Please be sure to review FAQ prior to registration.
