5 Description of the Application The user can import mechanics, which have been exported from SIZER for SIEMENS Drives V3.17 and later. The imported load cannot be modified, but additional transmission elements can be added. The load cycle editor provides a quick and easy possibility for the user to create new load cycles. Also holding brakes, additional inertia and transmission elements can be added here. Seite 5

6 Description of the Application Mechanical System - Feed drive. The user can define the relevant physical parameters which characterize a feed drive application. In combination with a valid motion profile (see below) a load cycle is calculated for further dimensioning. Mechanical System - Hoist drive. The user can define the relevant physical parameters which characterize a hoist drive application. In combination with a valid motion profile (see below) a load cycle is calculated for further dimensioning. Mechanical System Ball screw. The user can define the relevant physical parameters which characterize a ball screw application. In combination with a valid traversing profile (see below) a load cycle is calculated for further dimensioning. Seite 6

7 Description of the Application Motion profile editor for mechanics. Here the user can define very easily the motion profile of a movement. The profile can contain several moves. The default move is a trapeze, but can be easily customized with drag and drop of pins, which control which values are calculated. The resulting motion (position, speed, acceleration) and load curves (speed, torque) are shown in a chart immediately. Seite 7

8 Dimension and configure For each axis environment constraints, line voltage values and CPU controller assignments can be defined. The user can easily select a suitable motor and frequency converter from the list of available base types. Appropriate filters can be used to narrow the search. There is instantaneously recalculating and showing of results with given constraints for motor and frequency converter (checks of motor/frequency converter combinations, load constraints, environment constraints) Icons indicate the actual status of a configuration. By clicking on these icons the user gets information about pending problems and how to solve them. On the motor page charts show motor curves together with load requirements Motors can also be dimensioned without frequency converter (adjusting terminal voltage value) and vice versa. Page 8

9 Dimension and configure Option settings for motor and frequency converter can easily be done. Option validity is checked and visualized for the user. Option limitations are checked and visualized. Options may also configure additional articles for the order list. On an axis overview the user gets an overview over all configured axis of the project. Axis can be filtered or deleted and new axis can be added. All drive components and the important characteristic dimensioning values are shown. Also CPU assignments are visualized here. The drive components can be edited and deleted from here. The catalog tree on the right side helps to narrow the search to a product family. On the cable overview the user gets an overview over all configured cables of each axis of the project. The axis can be filtered like in the axis overview. The user can dimension suitable cables between motor and frequency converter for power, brake and encoders. For the 1FK2/S210 system the OCC (one cable connection) cables are used. Page 9

10 Extra functions The 24V consumption of configured frequency converters are taken into account for dimensioning of the power supply device. Every change of the user, which is significant for dimensioning, is recalculated automatically and non-blocking for the user and the result is visualized in the UI (especially project tree) All User actions can be undone. The supported products appear together with other products in TIA Selection Tool order list. The supported products also appear in the print files of TIA Selection Tool. When connected to the Siemens Industry Mall, prices are shown in the order list. Page 10

11 Not supported Help system: There is no special help system provided. Brake resistor checking / dimensioning: There are no checks in the software provided, if the built-in braking resistor tolerates the generatoric energy of the application. Page 11

12 Known issues Needs installed Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 Runtime redistributable. (If you see an empty Screen, after creating a device with >60V power supply, you are probably missing the redistributable files). The deploy contains a setup, where this package can be installed manually. Look under <Your TIA Selection Tool directory>\plugins\sizerplugin\vc_redist.x86 After changing from portal to project view the content of the configuration view is not displayed anymore. Workaround: Switch between the views in order to force an update. The UI-Version does not contain SIMOTICS 1FK2 motors which can be dimensioned with 3-phase 400 V line voltage. The calculation of the motor torque from load cycle is not correct in case of motion profiles with very long pause time compared to complete time. Drag & Drop functionality is not supported properly in some places of the software. The bookmark navigation within the PDF printing does not work properly. 13 Known issues Under certain circumstances the red border indicating wrong input values are not displayed correctly in motion profile editor. Nevertheless the underlying verification works correctly. Every move of a motion profile provides not more than three pins to work with. After certain user actions there can be more than these three pins available. The whole motion profile has to be deleted in order to clean up this situation. Page 13
