2 Introduction The Casella Model Upgrade Program has been written by Casella to allow users to change the model variants of selected Casella instruments. The program is available to download from the Casella website within the product support pages. This document describes the process of installing the Casella Model Upgrade Program and is intended to guide a user through the process of changing the model variants of Casella instruments. The following Casella instruments are supported by the Casella Model Upgrade Program: Infra-Red Dongle APEX Pump TUFF Pump 35x dbadge USB Mini B to USB A Cable 24x Series 62x Series 63x Series You will not be able to change model variants without an authorisation code issued by Casella. 4 Installation The Casella Model Update Program is available for download from the Casella Extranet within the Software tab. Installation of the Casella Model Upgrade Program is very simple with the steps outlined below in Figure 1. The minimum system requirements to use this program are shown below: PC with a 1GHz Intel or AMD processor 512 mb of RAM Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 (requires dotnet 3.5 Framework) An Internet connection for software download A working USB 2.0 port for instrument connection Figure 1 Start 1.00 Contact the relevant person and request Admin Rights No Do you have local Admin Rights? 1.01 Yes Locate downloaded zip file and extract to a known location Locate setup.exe in the extracted folder and double click The install process will begin Locate the Casella Model Upgrade Program on your desktop Reboot computer when prompted to by the installer Wait for the progress bar to complete, cick Finish to exit the installer Read each stage carefully clicking Next to proceed End

5 Changing Model Variant Changing the model variant of any of the current generation Casella products is a simple process and is summarised in Figure 2. For more detailed instructions on using the Casella Model Upgrade Program, please see below. Now click the Set button Plug USB Cable into instrument and PC 2.04 Plug USB Infra-red Dongle into USB port on computer 2.06 End 2.16 No Is the serial number now correct? 2.12 Power instrument on 2.05 Make sure the correct Com port has been selected 2.07 Yes No Click Upgrade 2.15 Enter authorisation code 2.14 Yes Is the serial number correct? 2.10 Wait for serial and model number to populate 2.09 Power instrument on and place in front of USB Infra- red Dongle 2.08 Detailed Method for Changing Model Variant Instrument Selection Due to the number of instruments that the Casella Model Upgrade Program can be used with you must first select the instrument you wish to change the model variant of. To select the correct instrument, open the Casella Model Upgrade Program and click Instrument from the task bar. 5

6 Click on the instrument you wish to upgrade and the software will now expand the window with your chosen instrument at the top. Connecting Instrument Via USB Current generation sound level meters produced by Casella can be upgraded via USB connection. Using the USB Mini B to USB A cable, plug end A into a USB port on your computer and end B into the bottom of the instrument. Once complete, power on the instrument and the serial number and current model number of your attached instrument will populate automatically within the Serial number and Model boxes. Connecting Instrument via Infra-Red Dongle Current generation air sampling pumps and dosimeters produced by Casella can be upgraded via Infra-red using an Infra-Red Dongle. Before proceeding with this method, the correct COM port must be selected within Casella Model Upgrade Program. To do this, plug in the Casella branded Infra-Red Dongle into a USB port on your computer and follow the steps outlined in Figure 3. 6

7 Figure 3 Once the COM port has been correctly identified, power on the instrument and place the Instrument s Infra-Red receiver in line with the Infra-Red Dongle. If connection is successful, the serial number and current model number of your attached instrument will populate automatically within the Serial number and Model boxes. Performing Model Change N.B You must request a model upgrade code from the Area or International Sales Manager for your area before proceeding. If you have not requested a code, please do so by ing salessupport@casellameasurement.com Enter the upgrade code provided into the box labeled Enter upgrade authorisation code. The box below will now populate with the model variant permitted by the upgrade code. Click Upgrade to initiate the upgrade process. A dialog box will appear confirming completion. 7
