General Presentation of the Application The Itris TIA Portal Import/Export tool allows you to import and export code to and from Siemens TIA Portal.

3 General Presentation of the Application The Itris TIA Portal Import/Export tool allows you to import and export code to and from Siemens TIA Portal. This tool uses the functionalities offered by Openness, a tool provided by Siemens to perform these types of operations. The Itris Portal Import/Export tool was designed in a modular way to adapt as best as possible to your needs after you have installed the core system, you only need to install the modules that you require. Installation prerequisites The Itris TIA Portal Import/Export tool requires the installation of the following components in order to function: Microsoft.NET Framework, version or above (Download here 1 ) Openness, which you will find 2 : For versions 13 SP1, 13 SP2, 14 and 14 SP1 of TIA Portal: in the Support folder of the STEP 7 installation disc. For version 15: during the set-up process of TIA Portal, in the optional packages list. The authorisation files provided by Siemens 3 for versions 13 SP1, 13 SP2 and 14 Base Unit The base unit is the main program of the Itris TIA Portal Import/Export tool, which allows you to perform the code import and export operations. To be able to import or export code, you must complete this base unit with your required import or export modules If Openness is not already set up on your computer, see the guide about Openness at the end of this documentation 3 For more information on how to get these authorisation files, see the end of this documentation

Please note that you will be asked to install the authorisation files if they are not already installed if you are running version 13 SP1, 13 SP2 or 14 of TIA Portal.

For more information on this, please go to the section regarding the installation of Openness. Modules The modules join to the base unit to provide the required code import and export functions. They must be downloaded and installed separately. There are no other prerequisites to consider other than those for the base unit. Please note that the modules must be installed in the same folder as the base unit in order to be detected (N.B. the modules are normally installed here by default). Once the modules have been installed, the base unit can detect them, and you are now able to use them. You can have multiple modules for multiple versions of TIA Portal, as long as the installed versions of Openness are compatible with TIA Portal (if this is not the case, the base unit will present a warning message). Operation Once the base unit and the modules have been installed, you can proceed with the operations of your choice via the base unit s graphical user interface (an icon should have been created on your desktop following the installation of the base unit). Please note that during each of these operations, TIA Portal may ask for authorisation to be connected to the modules via the following window: You can authorise the acceptance of the modules automatically or one-by-one. If you wish to perform a code export operation from TIA Portal for an Itris Automation tool (PLC Checker, PLC DocGen, ), you must locate your TIA Portal project via the Export project from TIA Portal section, then click Proceed.

Once the process has finished, the interface will indicate where you can find the code export for PLC Checker as well as the percentage of code from your application that was successfully exported.

It is not possible to export code which does not compile, or which is inconsistent. To avoid generating export errors and to ensure that PLC Checker receives all of your code, you must compile it yourself with TIA Portal and save the result before proceeding with the code export. Furthermore, some versions of Openness do not allow the export of protected code, so in this case, the percentage of exported code will be inferior to 100%. If you wish to perform a code import from an Itris Automation tool (PLC Converter, ), you must locate the code export, provided by PLC Converter in ZIP format, via the Import project from PLC Converter section. Then select the TIA Portal project to which you would like to import the code contained in the ZIP file, before clicking Proceed. Once this process has finished, the interface will indicate the success rate of the code import.! Any unit of code present in both the code export in ZIP format and in the target project that you have chosen for the import, will be replaced in the target project by the unit of code contained in the ZIP file. Advanced use: You can use the base unit in command prompt mode via the ItrisTIAExporterCli program. You can learn more about how it works with the? parameter.

Installation and preparation You will find Openness with the STEP 7 installation disc, in the Support folder for versions 13 SP1, 13 SP2, 14 and 14 SP1 of TIA Portal and during the set-up process of

6 Installing Openness Presentation Openness is the software link that allows Itris TIA Portal Import/Export and TIA Portal to communicate. Openness is required in order for Itris TIA Portal Import/Export to work. Installation and preparation You will find Openness with the STEP 7 installation disc, in the Support folder for versions 13 SP1, 13 SP2, 14 and 14 SP1 of TIA Portal and during the set-up process of TIA Portal, in the optional packages, for version 15. Make sure to install the version of Openness that corresponds with the version of TIA Portal that you are using.! You may need to update Openness with the update utility of TIA Portal. Read carefully the instructions provided during the installation, if there is a need to update Openness, it will be made clear at the end of the installation process. Once Openness is installed, you must define which users have the right to use it. To do this: Right-click on Computer (or My Computer, or This PC, depending on which version of Windows you are using). Select Manage In the window that has just appeared, open up the following elements: System tools Local Users and Groups

7 Click on the folder Groups. You should see a group appear called Siemens TIA Openness. Double click on this group to edit it. Click on Add Type the name of the user and click on Verify names. To show that Windows has successfully found the user, their name will be underlined. To finish, click OK followed by Apply, then restart your computer. Openness is ready to be used by the user. This operation must be repeated for each user wanting to use Openness on the computer.

8 Authorisation files TIA Portal versions 13 SP1, 13 SP2 and 14 require an authorisation from Siemens in order to be used with Openness. To use Openness, you must follow Siemens official procedure, of which you can find more details at the following address: TIA Portal Openness Guidance Usagefile EnablerFile 4. Once you have the files, proceed with the export of the code with Itris TIA Portal Import/Export. The wizard will detect the absence of authorisation and will propose to install the files for you. This operation only needs to be performed once for all users of the computer: 4 enablerfile_v13sp1.pdf
