3 ERLPhase - History ERLPhase was formed in 2007 as the next generation of APT Power Technologies and the Relay/Recorder division of NxtPhase T&D Corp. ERLPhase is a subsidiary of Easun Reyrolle Ltd of India, an expanding international company. A major in the field of power management, encompassing protection, control, automation, metering and switchgear.

18 GOOSE (8-1) / SV (9-2) - explanation GOOSE and SV messages are time critical messages and hence there will NOT be any acknowledgements Message flows directly from data link layer to RTOS interface GOOSE and SV (9-2) are multicast messages GOOSE messages STARTS first time when the data attribute or status changes of any logical node defined by the data set.
19 GOOSE Example GOOSE never waits for any acknowledgement from the subscriber, but retransmits itself with a minimum time interval in ERLPhase relays it is 10 ms, 20mS, 40mS.12 sec maximum time. Tmin= 1 ms Data change etected and transmission starts Tmax = 12 sec First retransmission after 10 ms
20 GOOSE Example. How does the subscriber knows of the retransmission and the new event? GOOSE message has a STATE number and a SEQUENCE number for distinguishing between a new event and retransmitted message For example, if 600 is the STATE number for new event and first SEQUENCE will be set to 0 STATE number remains 600 (if there is no new event) and SEQUENCE will be updated to 1 after first retransmission. STATE number changes 601 (new event) and SEQUENCE starts at 0 and the old message will become obsolete
