1 READ THIS FIRST Model 1030 Expansion Unit Backplane Wiring Update Before installing your Model 1030 Expansion Unit, follow the instructions below: Locate the protective panels on the back of your control unit and expansion unit. Determine if you have late or early model units by the presence or absence of an identification label. Late model units are labeled 510A1 (control unit) and 510C1 (expansion unit). Early model units are not labeled. Follow the instruction below for the type(s) of units you have: two late model units (labeled 510A1 and 510C1): refer to the instructions (CIB 3021) packaged with your Model 1030 Expansion Unit for installation and wiring instructions. a late model expansion unit (labeled 510C1) and an early model control unit (not labeled): follow the instructions (CIB 3021) packaged with your Model 1030 Expansion Unit to connect the two units. Then install a (301A) Backplane Adapter Kit according to the instructions (CIB 3072) packaged with the kit. Contact your equipment supplier, if you do not have a Backplane Adapter Kit. COMCODE

2 CIB 3072 (301A) BACKPLANE ADAPTER KIT The Backplane Adapter Kit (Figure 1) allows you to connect the wiring from an early Model 1030 control unit (510A) to a late model expansion unit (510C1) NOTES: To determine whether your units are late or early models, locate the protective panels on the back of the units. Late model units are labeled 501A1 (control unit) and 510C1 (expansion unit). Early model units are not labeled. This Backplane Adapter Kit should not be used to connect a 510A control unit to a 510C expansion unit or a 510A1 control unit to a 510C1 expansion unit. 3 (PAGE 2) INSTALLING THE BACK PLANE ADAPTER KIT PREPARING THE UNITS WARNING: Before installing your Backplane Adapter Kit, be sure to turn off the power switch on the power module(s). Unplug all power cords connected to the unit(s) and to any optional equipment connected to the unit(s). Lift the top cover off the control unit and remove the four screws from the protective panel on the back of the control unit and expansion unit (Figure 2) Remove both panels. Reinstall the two braces (provided with the Model 1030 Expansion Unit). (Refer to CIB 3021 for more detailed instructions.) NOTE: Follow the instructions below for connecting control unit and expansion unit wiring, do not use the instructions provided in CIB 302 CONNECTING THE GREEN GROUND WIRE Locate the green ground wire (provided) that has a two-pin connector on one end and a long and short wire on the other end (Figure 1) Cover Protective panel Figure 2 Removing the Control Unit's Cover and Protective Panel

4 (PAGE 3) CAUTION: Be very careful not to bend the pins on the control unit's and expansion unit's backplanes. Attach the two-pin connector on the ground wire to the pins labeled 100 and 000 (slot 1 on the control unit (Figure 3) Attach the short wire's connector to the pin labeled 100 or 000 (slot 16) (Figure 3) Attach the long wire's connector to the pin labeled 100 or 000 (slot 27) (Figure 3) Long wire's connector (pin 100 or 000, slot 27) Short wire's connector (pin 100 or 000, slot 16) Green ground wire Two-pin connector (pins 100 or 000, slot 1) Figure 3 Connecting the Green Ground Wire

5 (PAGE 4) CONNECTING THE BLACK GROUND WIRE Locate the black ground wire (provided) that has a metal fork (lug) on one end and a four pin connector on the other end (Figure 1) FOUR-PIN CONNECTOR On the control unit locate the ground wire connected to the pins labeled Ground (slot 1) on the control unit. Remove and discard this ground wire. Connect the ground wire's four-pin connector to any four pins in the area labeled Ground (slot 16) (Figure 4). METAL FORK CONNECTOR Locate the black ground wire's metal fork. At the bottom of the expansion unit's backplane, locate the ground screw labeled GS-1 (between slots 21 and 22) (Figure 4). Loosen the ground screw (but do not remove it) Insert the ground wire's metal fork under the ground screw's head (Figure 4) on the expansion unit so that the prongs of the fork fit around the ground screw's post. 6 (PAGE 5) CONNECTING THE NETWORK RIBON CABLE Find the ribbon cable labeled Network hanging from pins (slot 26) on the left side of the expansion unit's backplane (Figure 5). Connect the other end of this cable (red band down) to the set of pins (slot 11) labeled Network on the control unit's back plane. 7 (PAGE 6) CONNECTING THE ADAPTER CABLE Locate the adapter cable (Figure 1) that has two connectors on each end On one end there are two 50-pin (amphenol type) connectors (one male and one female). On the other end there are two labeled (3M type) connectors (one labeled 1/0-1 and the other 1/0-2). Attached to the 1/0-1 connector is a twisted-pair wire. 50-PIN (AMPHENOL TYPE) CONNECTORS Find the cable with the two 50-pin connectors (one female and one male) hanging from the right side of your control unit (Figure 6). Locate the adapter cable (provided). Connect the adapter cable's male 50-pin connector to the control unit's female connector (Figure 6) and tighten screws. Connect the adapter cable's female 50-pin connector to the control unit's male connector (Figure 6) and tighten screws. 8 (PAGE 7) 1/0-2 (3M TYPE) CONNECTOR On the expansion unit, remove the ribbon cable's connector labeled 1/0-2 (between slots 16 and 17) from its header (Figure 7) by pushing the latches on each end of the header outward. Discard the ribbon cable. Locate the adapter cable's connector labeled 1/0-2 (Figure 7). Insert the connector into the header labeled 1/0-2 (between slots 16 and 17) on the expansion unit's backplane (Figure 7). NOTE: The connector is keyed to prevent incorrect installation, If the connector does not fit in the header, turn the connector upside down and reinsert it into the header. 4. Lock the connector in place by pushing the latches on each end of the header inward (Figure 7). 1/0-1 (3M TYPE CONNECTOR) On the expansion unit, remove the ribbon cable's connector labeled 1/0-1 (between slots 17 and 18) from its header (Figure 7) by pushing the latches on each end of the header outward. Discard the ribbon cable. Locate the adapter cable s connector labeled 1/0-1 (Figure 7). 9 (PAGE 8) Insert the connector into the header labeled 1/0-1 (between slots 17 and 18) on the expansion unit's backplane (Figure 7) NOTE: The connector is keyed to prevent incorrect installation. If the connector does not fit in the header turn the connector upside down and reinsert it into the header. 4. Lock the connector in place by pushing the latches on each end of the header inward (Figure 7). TWISTED-PAIR WIRE 4. Locate the second column of pins (slot 2) from the right side of the control unit (Figure 8). Starting at the bottom of this column count up to the eighteenth row of pins. If there are wires (color-coded blue-violet and slate-yellow) connected to the two leftmost pins in the eighteenth row (the row has three pins), cut the wires with a pair of scissors and insulate the cut ends (wrap with electrical tape) (Figure 8). Locate the twisted-pair wite labeled with a number one hanging from the 1/0-1 connector (Figure 8). Hold the connector so the number one is on the left side of the connector (Figure 8). Attach the two-pin connector to the two leftmost pins in the eighteenth row (the row has three pins). 10 (PAGE 9) REPLACING THE PROTECTIVE PANELS 4. Place all excess cable in the opening between the control unit and the expansion unit (Figure 9). Place the back protective panel on the control unit. Insert the four screws and tighten. Place the back protective panel on the expansion unit. Insert the four screws and tighten.
