1 The MZ Series program has been upgraded to V3.16. Please read this bulletin thoroughly before upgrading your MZ Printer. This program is now downloadable from the RISO web site at the following address... SMNJ/V2.13 (SH4F PCB) SMNJ/V3.16 SMNM/V2.13 (MCTL PCB) SMNM/V3.16 N/A (DSP program - 2nd Feed) SNMD/V3.16 This program should be used for the following scenarios... Need to connect to a PS7R-5000 * PS7R-5000 Firmware must be V3.11 or higher. For more information, please refer to: PIN Need to install NET-D; GII * MZ program V2.xx may have firmware conflict with NET-D; GII, such as blank master making. Also the Editor function (software digitizer) may not work properly. Need to use Interval Print function. Using the previous type Scanner * For MZ790U, TM #1235 Scanner Type Selection should be set to 0 for previous type Scanner. Previous type Scanners are discernible by 5 Flatbed Original Size Sensors. Please take note the Original Detection Sensor is not counted as one of the size sensors. [Major Revisions] [Important Notice: MZ790U machines whose Serial Number is will ship in the following conditions] Both drums shipped in the machine are inkless and must be set up. Please refer to the inkless drum installation procedure shipped w/ the machine or attached to this bulletin. USB port is available to use. (Parallel port will be an option) Pressure Control program is revised. (To correct amount of ink on print) - Refer to the [Notice] below [[NOTICE]] If after the program update, you notice dark image quality or ghosting please refer to: PCI Before upgrading please make a note of the present pressure settings in Test Mode # s 972 & 975. Re enter these settings after the upgrade is successfully completed. If you forget to note the settings or the settings become lost, please use the following recommended settings... Test Mode # 972 Pressure HP adjustment (Drum) --- Recommended settings (Black = 0 ) (Color = -160 ) Test Mode # 975 Pressure HP adjustment (Main) --- Recommended settings (1) = -110 (2) = -180 ISSUE DATE: 4/3/06 SUPERSEDES: DATED: PAGE: 1 of 6
2 Revised Points from V2.13 to V3.16 1). SMNJ V3.16 == SH4F PCB Program 1-1) USB port is now available (The USB port on the SH4 PCB is now available to print.) 1-2) Protect function is added on the MZ (The MZ now has the same function as the RZ9.) 1-3) Faster processing of Easy 2 Color separation. (The process time has been improved up to the maximum (40% faster)). 1-4) Air blow default is changed to ON on both drums 1 & ) International language display has been added for the Protect, Mail Sending & PS7R-5000 functions as well as for the Special Paper Ejection setting. 1-6) Additional connectivity with the PS7R [NOTE] The PS7R-5000 firmware must be V3.11 or higher. Please refer to: PIN ) The Preview display has been modified when Overlay function is selected. 1-8) On SMNJV3.16, the disabled Parallel port due to a program bug has been corrected. 1-9) PS7R-5000 freezes upon 1st boot up after a firmware upgrade has been corrected. 1-10) MZ freezes during an Easy 2 Color operation when Drum #2 is being loaded with a Master without any paper on the Paper Feed Tray. 1-11) When paper on the Paper Feed Tray is depleted during the printing process, the machine would go to sleep. (This incorrect sequence was corrected with this program) 1-12) Even though auto All Reset is activated, Vertical Print Position and Drum Horizontal position would not reset to their respective home position. This bug has been corrected. 1-13) ADF 2 UP Function When an Original is jammed in the ADF during a 2 UP job, the operation may stop and freeze the machine. This bug has been corrected so that the machine requires that all the Originals be reset in the ADF after an Original jam. 1-14) ADF Scanning When the Original is removed just after the ADF starts to feed the Original for Scanning, the machine may freeze during Original Scanning. This bug has been corrected. 1-15) Test Mode Titles that have been changed Test Mode #80 Test Print A Test Print A (Checkered) Test Mode #81 Test Print B Test Print B (Crossed Line) Test Mode #84 Test Print E (Dot1) Test Print E (Dot1+Crossed Lines) Test Mode #85 Test Print F (Dot2) Test Print F (Dot2+Crossed Lines) 1-16) USB connection signal may be lost by turning the power OFF then ON on the MZ or the PS7R This bug has been corrected. ISSUE DATE: 4/3/06 SUPERSEDES: DATED: PAGE: 2 of 6
3 Revised Points from V2.13 to V3.16 continued 1-17) [Additional Test Modes] ) Test Mode # 0146 Scanning priority mode on Master Making process. 0:Disable (Default) 1: Enable Scanner mirror may be shaken by vibration during master disposal process. This happens because the scanning process and master disposal process were overlapped with each other. To avoid overlapping these processes, the master disposal process will start after the scanning process is completed when this test mode is set to 1: Enable ) Test Mode # 0491 Protect Position Action; Compression Plate When this mode is activated, the compensation Plate moves to a position where the Compression Plate stops the Master Disposal Box from physically being removed. When the Protect function is activated, the Compression Plate moves and stops at this same position to prevent the Master Disposal Box from being removed ) Test Mode #0572 Disposal Box Position Correction 0: Disable (Default) 1: Enable When it is set 1: Enable, the Master Compression Plate goes down to correct box position when the main power is ON, when the machine wakes from Sleep Mode or when the Disposal Box is set ) Test Mode # 0577 Compression Plate Position Adjustment of Protect function ) Test Mode # 1235 Scanner Type Selection 0: Previous type Scanner 1: New Scanner (Default) For the US market the default has been changed to 1: New Scanner. Therefore if you upgrade the Firmware on an MZ with a previous type Scanner, you will need to set this Test Mode setting to 0: Previous Scanner. Previous type Scanners are discernible by 5 Flatbed Original Size Sensors. Please take note the Original Detection Sensor is not counted as one of the size sensors. 2). SMNM V3.16 == MCTL PCB Program 2-1) Pressure Control program has been revised. This is to manipulate the amount of ink during transfer. 2-2) Motor Lock on Pressure Adjustment Pressure position initializing has been added to the program to detect Print Pressure Motor Locks properly. 2-3) The program bug that caused the Pressure Adjustment on Drum #2 to be weaker than it should be has been fixed. 2-4) This program has addedd a sensor detection of Master Disposal jams 500ms after the Master Removal Transport Motor went OFF. ISSUE DATE: 4/3/06 SUPERSEDES: DATED: PAGE: 3 of 6
4 Revised Points from V2.13 to V3.16 continued 2-5) Test Mode # 1222 Compensation of Scanner Calibration The program bug that caused images to shrink when they should have been elongated when setting this test mode to a positive value has been fixed. 2-6) Test Mode # 0106 Test Mode Memory Value restore on Drum PCB T may be displayed when you run Test Mode # This bug has been corrected. 2-7) Auto Renew Master Although a master disposal jam is detected during Auto Renew master making, the machine does not stop and carries on with master making. This bug has been corrected. 2-8) Interval Print The program bug that caused the Pressure Roller to possibly raise up during the skip rotation of Interval Printing for long papers has been corrected. 3). SMND V2.03 == DSP Program ( Main Motor and 2nd Feed Control program) 3-1) The reference point of position B has been revised. This is due to the drum stopping prior to the B position just after master making recovery 3-2) The Motor Lock detection status will be cleared by the time the Main Motor starts rotation. This is to prevent mis-detection of a motor lock. 3-3) Over Current control of Main Motor The timing for checking Main Motor Over Current has been changed to when the Main Motor starts after the machines power has been turned ON. ISSUE DATE: 4/3/06 SUPERSEDES: DATED: PAGE: 4 of 6
