3 Page 1 Product Information Wheel Distance Measurement Unit HGE-WD Technical Information The wheel distance measurement unit is a solid measurement device for the measurement and evaluation of the wheel clearance of train and tram wheels. The caliper, manufactured with CFRP-lightweight technology, enables an easy and fast measurement with high precision and an optimum resistance against environmental influences, maximum bending strength and shock resistance. With innovative materials and elements, the wheel distance measurement unit is able to cope with the highest demands on measurement precision and handling. The low weight of about 1100 g is perfect for an usage on minimum space with little effort. Via recording the temperature, a high accuracy over the temperature range is achieved. To guarantee corrosion resistance, the further components consist of anodized aluminium. The mechanic parts of the measurement device are dust and water splash protected. For the recording of the measurements a PSION WORKABOUT (class of protection IP 65) is used. For an ergonomic work, a bag with a shoulder strap is provided with the computer PSION WORKABOUT. The concept also has the advantage that the computer PSION WORKABOUT is combinable with the wheel and the door closing force measurement devices from our production. Thereby only one computer is needed. for a wide variety of measurement devices.

4 Type: HGE-WD Page 2 Software The Measurement Software The measurement procedure is fast and uncomplicated. The data is captured and directly displayed with the PSION WORKABOUT. The software menu on the handheld is deliberately kept simple in order to provide a quick and smooth service. The user is able to select the input selection of the job/vehicle number, odometer, remark, signature (touchscreen), car type, bogie number and axle quantity as well as the corresponding critical values and measuring points. The measuring procedure provides information about the length at the different measurement points and about their average. If the critical values are exceeded, the user will be warned optically and acoustically. The axle overview shows the status of the measured and outstanding axles to the user. If the axle is in tolerance, a check mark is shown. A red cross appears if a value is exceeded and a blue question mark means the axle or the car is still outstanding. Our software has the advantage, that a started measurement could be disrupted and be proceeded at a later point in time. Thereby a flexible time and work management is enabled for the user. At the end of each measurement a detailed measurement protocol is made, which can be evaluated on the PSION WORKABOUT and can be sent to PC in the formats PDF, EXCEL or the database format MDB. The measurement datas can be displayed in mm or inches.

5 Type: HGE-WD Page 3 HGE-DataManager The software HGE-DataManager belonging to the wheel distance measurement device offers a quick and easy data transmission from the handheld PSION WORKABOUT to the user-pc. There is a choice between several database formats to store the measurement data (PDF, EXCEL and MDB). Settings, format selection and diagram parameter In addition to this, the HGE-DataManager software provides information about the status of the accumulator and the remaining data storage of the handheld PSION WORKABOUT. It provides an overview over the stored measurement protocols and delivers several extended setup possibilities. User interface HGE-DataManager
