2 1 General MTpro version is published as a full version on DVD. The DVD installation will update any existing MTpro installation since version (i.e. last DVD version) automatically. An existing MTpro installation can also be updated from Internet using the built-in update function (full MTpro installation, Internet connection and administrator privileges are required). Depending on the option settings MTpro can automatically search for updates. To run the update, invoke the command Check for updates under Help and follow the directions of the update wizard. Please note that MTpro will no longer support Window XP or Vista. This means that the program may not run properly any more under these operating system versions. Page 2 of 19

3 2 Updated User Interface The old-style Windows menus have been replaced by the ribbon and quick access toolbars. The main differences are as follows. Under the start button the former file menu functions can be found. With the Options button in the lower right corner of the start button dialog the MTpro options are opened. In the previous versions options were found in the Extras menu. The quick access toolbar is used to offer your favorite functions. Click on the small arrow right next to the toolbar to include further commands. Page 3 of 19

4 The information window About MTpro can now be opened by clicking the symbol in the very right corner of the ribbon toolbar Also in the upper right corner of the ribbon the help menu and the language selection can be found. With the and symbols the ribbon can be minimized or expanded. 3 New contents 3.1 CAD models for new products Quite a number of CAD-models have been modified and updated. A detailed list can be found in the Annex. 6 3.2 New catalogs and assembly instructions The following catalogs were updated: Catalog Version Available languages VFplus chain conveyor system 1.0 de, en, it, es, zh TS 2pv transfer system 2.1 de, en, es Moreover several new assembly instructions were added and others updated. 4 New layout designer contents and functions 4.1 Representation of light sources and shadows The new View option Cast shadow can be used to switch shadows in the layout on and off. The values Yes or Dynamic will switch shadows on, the value No will switch shadows off. To display shadows on a less powerful computer, the setting Cast shadow = Dynamic is recommended. In this case shadows will only be re-calculated after other operations like rotation of the view have been finished Use of floor color and tiled textures Cast shadow will also enable the use of color and floor tiles. If No, selection of color and floor tile picture files are disabled. Page 6 of 19

9 4.1.2 Usage of MPS system lamps as light sources A light switch has been added to the MPS system lamps. This can be used to add an additional light source to the 3D scene. Select a lamp or an assembly equipped with a lamp. In the LIGHTS properties section click on Light switch to switch the light source on or off. Click on the Color field to select the light color. Use Panel to adjust the size of the light cone. Damping will regulate the light intensity. With Softness the focusing of the light beam can be adjusted. Up to four lights can be switched on at the same time. Page 9 of 19

10 The following picture illustrates the effect of the different light properties: Please note that the additional light sources cannot be considered in the calculation of shadows. For example in the above picture the light beam passes the table plate and the underlying profiles without generating any additional shadows. Also the light beam does not necessarily correspond to the real light beam of the system lamp. This feature should only be used for illustration purposes. It is not provided to simulate the lightning situation at a specific workplace. 4.2 Visualization of docks Use the new viewing option Show docks to show or hide dock points on the selected components or assemblies: Page 10 of 19

11 In some situations (like for example measuring) this may be helpful to find the desired reference point. Select a component to make its dock points visible. Move the mouse over the dock symbol to display dock point name and coordinates relative to the component origin. Page 11 of 19

12 5 Other functions 5.1 Online versions of catalog sheets and assembly instructions By default, all catalog data sheets and assembly instructions in PDF format are now displayed online. In this way, users will always view the actual version of these documents, independent of the MTpro update status. Nevertheless with the installation of MTpro, the PDF documents are still copied to the user s local hard disk. Also, MTpro updates will still include updates for the local PDF documents. The user can choose between online documents and local documents by switching the option Show online documents. If the computer has no Internet connection, de-select the check box behind Show online documents. Otherwise an error message will appear, each time a PDF document is opened. Page 12 of 19

13 5.2 eshop access independent of country setting More and more countries have access to the Rexroth eshop. The eshop interface in MTpro is therefore no longer limited to German customers. While in previous versions the option Country had to be set to Germany, now items from the order list can be sent to the eshop basket independent of the country setting. Page 13 of 19
