3 design & construction design & construction From the latest three dimensional CAD drawing and design techniques and the precision machining of components through to the final assembly, machines are produced to South Fence Machinery s exacting standards by the company s own skilled staff. Machine characteristics ensure long economic life with minimum maintenance, ease of operation, simple servicing and adjustment for quick change of fence specifications. Standard machines are designed for fences with up to 11 line wires to a maximum height of 55 (1.410 metres), while wide machines allow for up to 14 line wires with a maximum fence height of 78 (2 metres). Both machine models have interchangeable stay wire pitches of 6 (152mm) and 12 (304mm). Wide machines produce all fence specifications which can be made on standard machines and also allow for manufacture of Deer Fence, Predator Control Fence or low cost Security Fence, all of which require greater than normal height. some typical fence derivations HJ-W2 HJ-S2 Fences of different heights are manufactured simply by feeding the machine with the required number of adjacent line wires and related stay wire input. The ability to produce high tensile as well as mild steel wire fence ensures that the South Fence Machines are able to manufacture the widest possible range of product requirements.

7 South Fence Machinery Ltd South Fence Machinery Ltd is a privately owned New Zealand company whose history dates back to the 1930 s. Originally known as NZ Fence & Gate Works the company operated from a small factory at Petone, in the Wellington industrial area, manufacturing wire products for local distribution. Over the ensuing years the company then known as Hurricane Wire Products Ltd. grew rapidly to become recognised in New Zealand as an industry leader in the manufacture of wire based commodities. During the same period the Engineering Division was established and the design and manufacture of Hinge Joint Field Fence machines began in The machines soon gained international recognition. In 1986 the wire products division of Hurricane Wire Products Ltd was sold and the Engineering Division became South Fence Machinery Ltd. This enabled the company to concentrate all its resources on the design and manufacture of machinery for the wire industry. South Fence Machinery Ltd has manufactured and installed machines in New Zealand, Australia, USA, Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, Republic of South Africa, USSR, Portugal, Spain, France, Hungary, Japan, Papua New Guinea and the Philippines. South Fence Machinery Ltd has 60 employees at its modern 52,000 sq ft plant in Christchurch and utilises the very latest in cad-cam technology to enhance its design capabilities and for the programming of its CNC machinery.
