It is an interactive, intuitive, and easy-to-use tool that provides a cost-effective solution for a full range of database administration functions for DB2 for. DB2 Administration Tool provides in-depth catalog navigation by displaying and interpreting objects in the DB2 catalog and executing dynamic SQL statements. DB2 Admin provides the ability to make changes and updates quickly and easily to the data presented and integrates with other DB2 utilities. Alter and migrate functions, reverse engineering of the DB2 catalog, and many other catalog administrative tasks are supported. Enhancements: DB2 Version 7 exploitation Generation of REBIND commands in reverse engineering Quick reverse engineering function for single objects Online display and change of DB2 system parameters Prompt/Batch option for DDL, DCL, and DML update statements Generation of change operations that can be reused Support for running on multiple copies of the DB2 catalog DB2 Automation Tool for, Version 1.2 allows database administrators to automate database maintenance by specifying sets of database objects, conditions to monitor, and then launch one or a series of utilities as jobs that execute according to specified parameters. By combining object profiles and utility option profiles into job profiles, DBAs can keep tight control over database conditions and the utilities needed to correct them with minimal personal intervention. This release is significantly more flexible and robust than Release 1 with the addition of the following new capabilities: Integration with DB2 Administration Tool DB2 Automation Tool may now be launched from the DB2 Administration Launchpad. Additional Utility Support in addition to IMAGE COPY, RUNSTATS, and REORG, DB2 Automation Tool V1.2 now supports the QUIESCE utility, the MODIFY utility, automatic reallocation of STOGROUP defined objects, and the Data Page Verification Reporting utility Exception Profiles Support is added for thresholds and exceptions, allowing job profiles to be executed automatically without DBA intervention when specified conditions appear for any given object or set of objects. In addition, to the basic RUNSTATS information captured in the DB2 Automation Tool Repository, DBAs may also define exception conditions using any combination of:

A group of popular product-defined calculations based on RUNSTATs information Access to dataset statistics from the MVS catalog Access to information from SYSCOPY For example, REORG if dataset is in x extents, or COPY if most recent copy is more than one week old. Multiple Jobs Multiple jobs can be generated from a single profile. Options for multiple job generation include number of objects per job, number of jobs per profile, DASD usage, and elapsed time. Profile Sharing You can now use a secondary ID as the creator of a profile, allowing full access to the profile by other workgroup members. Profile Moving Profiles can now be copied among multiple DB2 subsystems, allowing faster and easier setup of and user access to frequently used DB2 Automation Tool profiles on those subsystems. Dataset Manager A new Dataset Manager Facility now enables DB2 datasets to be viewed, evaluated, and moved. This new facility provides online displays allowing you to select the desired datasets to be moved. Datasets can be moved interactively from within TSO/ISPF or by using the batch facility provided. The Dataset Manager Facility supports all types of dataset allocation including STOGROUP, user defined, SMS, and non SMS. User Interface Enhancements These enhancements include a streamlined main menu, the ability to work with all profiles from a Job Profile, and a common look and feel across all profile panels. Base GDG Support Automatic creation of base GDGs (Generation Data Groups) is now provided. If GDGs are in use with image copy utilities in a DB2 environment, then DB2 Automation Tool will trigger the generation of a base GDG as needed at the time of image copy execution. Improved Support for ERP Environments Support for multiple jobs (described above) and new support for searching and selecting objects using the Tablespace Creator improves DB2 Automation Tool support for complex database environments, such as SAP. DB2 High Performance Unload for, Version 1.2 offers sequential reading and the capability to access your DB2 data at top speed. It can unload data from image copies and active tables and create multiple output files during a single unload with minimal cost. DB2 High Performance Unload can store the output in multiple formats including those that are user tailored. New capabilities: Data sharing support Inline FIC support CCSID conversion at the column level SYSKEYS keyword support in the generated load statement Option DB2 FORCE to force the usage of DB2 to extract data when DSNTIAUL is faster than HPU Improved flexibility in default user format setting Return code 4 issued if an unload returns 0 lines DB2 Log Analysis Tool for, Version 1.2 makes it easy to quickly audit and identify changes to data. Once identified, changes may be selectively reversed, reapplied (at the original database or at other databases), or reported upon. Highly customized summary or detailed views of data changes, and automatically generated SQL for reversing or reapplying changes, easily provide tighter control over data integrity. New capabilities: Integration with DB2 Administration and DB2 Object Restore DB2 Log Analysis Tool may now be launched from the DB2 Administration Launchpad. Output files generated by DB2 Object Restore may be accessed from within DB2 Log Analysis Tool allowing reporting on dropped objects and restoring their data to a desired point in time. Bypass of the SYSLGRNX table Reports may now be run on time frames prior to the last cleanup of the SYSLGRNX table by bypassing the table. Auto-continue Mode Report parameters now may be set once and then run any number of times, with each subsequent run beginning in the log where the previous run left off. The same report can be run a periodic (that is, nightly) basis, providing continuous, non-redundant coverage of all log entries. Inflight units-of-work will be automatically saved between runs in this operating mode, so reporting capabilities on such activities are always retained. New General Report Format The general report is much smaller. Identical records (within a URID) are summarized into one record with a count value. This count value represents the number of identical records (that is, the number of records displayed in earlier releases). Log Forward Process When analyzing data in the log for a specific period of time, it is common for Log Analysis Tool to encounter a REORG related to the specified table. Log Analysis Tool can now read the log in the forward direction starting from the START TIME and properly handle activity that spans REORGs. Similarly, the log forward process can also report on LOADs and Mass Deletes (that is, DELETE FROM TABLEX, where TABLEX is part of a segmented tablespace) found in the DB2 logs. Static SQL Support The SQL generated by DB2 Log Analysis Tool can be automatically bound into static SQL. This allows for significant performance improvements when running a large number of SQL statements

Querying Report Results The DB2 Log Analysis Tool Detail Report data is also written to a file in DB2 Load format. You can load this file into a new DB2 table, allowing the data behind the detail report to be available for further analysis via DB2 Web Query Tool. New Filter Criteria New criteria for filtering on OBID, PSID, and DBID are available. Reporting on dropped objects is also available, simplifying the use of Log Analysis Tool in conjunction with DB2 Object Restore V1.2 to restore objects and their data to a desired point in time. DB2 Object Restore for, Version 1.2 makes it possible to quickly restore dropped objects. The following enhancements are provided in this release: Integration with DB2 Administration Tool and DB2 Log Analysis Tool Objects DB2 Object Restore may now be launched from the DB2 Administration Launchpad. In addition to its existing support for DSN1COPY, DB2 Object Restore V1.2 produces output files that can be accessed from within DB2 Log Analysis Tool to quickly roll forward the data associated with a restored object to a desired point in time. Recreation of storage groups, databases, tablespaces, tables, indexes, aliases, synonyms, views, plans, and packages is now supported. Privileges Privileges supported now include user privileges, system privileges, database privileges, table privileges, view privileges, collection privileges, plan privileges, package privileges, and column privileges. Global Object Dependencies View From within the main panel or from any object list, users can quickly switch to a view displaying all object dependencies. From this view, the dependencies desired for inclusion in a restore process may be selected. Administrative Options Administrative options are expanded allowing the DBA to specify what types of objects and privileges will be maintained within the DB2 Object Restore Versioning Repository. For example, you may specify that only tables be maintained, but not the privileges for tables. DB2 Table Editor for, Version 4.2 extends the capabilities of this powerful tool even further with: Tool Integration The DB2 Table Editor Java interface may be launched from the DB2 Control Center, and the ISPF interface may be launched from the DB2 Administration Launchpad, or via a line command from within DB2 Export Facility or DB2 Administration Tool. Linked Forms DB2 Table Editor V4.2 forms developers building Windows or Java based forms may now define linkages between forms. This allows for sets of forms to be built and linked with parent/child relationships, whether or not the data in the forms is related in the underlying DB2 table structure. SQL Command Buttons A form builder can now place a command button on any Windows or Java based form that will launch any SQL, including stored procedures. Large Object Support The Windows and Java based DB2 Table Editor V4.2 interfaces now provide large object support, including support for large objects through forms rendered in those environments. ISPF Interface enhancements The ISPF interface of DB2 Table Editor V4.2 provides: Launch from the DB2 Administration Launchpad, or via a line command from within DB2 Export Facility or DB2 Administration Tool Toggle easily between browse and edit modes Execute INSERT, DELETE, COPY, REPEAT, and UNDO upon blocks of data with ISPF editor command syntax Select column order when displaying data Choose which columns to show or hide when displaying data Choose which column to freeze in the leftmost position Include all/exclude all to quickly change which columns are displayed Use uppercase command (forces data in a selected column to be entered in uppercase) Use PF key and command to zoom into a specific column (column may be viewed in hex mode when zoomed) Preview number of rows that will be in an editing session before beginning Use PF key to display column name, column number, datatype, and length from within an edit session Use Commands Change, Repeat Change, Change All, Find, Repeat Find all work upon and entire result set or single columns Use undo command to undo inserts and deletes DB2 Table Editor for iseries, Version 4.2 provides the same robust table editing for DB2 on the iseries as DB2 Table Editor does on the other DB2 family platforms. On all platforms this function is delivered from multiple GUI end user environments: Java-enabled Web browsers and workstations, and Windows workstations. IMS Extended Terminal Option Support for, Version 2.2 provides the following enhancements. SLUTYPEP support allows you to specify the Logon Descriptor, change the signon completed message (DFS3650), override ASOT/ALOT, or other IMS options

on an LU by LU basis. It can also perform automatic RACF signon for these devices. SLU1 Console support enables you to specify the Logon Descriptor, change the signon completed message (DFS3650), override ASOT/ALOT, or other IMS options on an LU-by-LU basis. It can also perform automatic RACF signon for this device type. SLU2/3270 support has been enhanced to allow execution of an IMS transaction in place of the DFS3650 message. With customer tailored DFS3649I error messages you can specify the error text used to replace the default Return Code numeric value. Support is provided for multiple versions of IMS. Alternate ALOT=0 processing is now supported to allow you to take advantage of either form of ALOT=0. There are two forms of ALOT=0 processing: The first ALOT=0 causes Auto Logoff to take effect immediately. The second ALOT=0 causes Auto Logoff to take effect immediately after ASOT is reached. LTERM names may now start with a numeric value. Tailoring of signon processing is now supported. Specifically, reserved MFS MOD names are provided that may be used to give you more flexibility in tailoring your signon screens. IMS Fast Path Basic Tools for, Version 1.2 provides the capability to verify the integrity and utilization of DEDBs, evaluate the potential benefit or impact of changes to existing DEDBs, and efficiently unload and reload or reorganize DEDBs. The product includes: DEDB Pointer Checker DEDB Tuning Aid DEDB Unload/Reload Utilities Enhancements include: Control statement parameter ACCESS=FAST in the DEDB Unload Utility supports high performance read access to the DEDB area data set by using the DFSMS Media Manager interfaces. DEDB Reload Utility allows you to produce image copies for reloaded DEDB areas and provide automatic notification of them to DBRC. This function requires IMS Image Copy Extensions for OS/390. Improved Database Definition Record Create Utility for detailed, easy-to-understand reports of DEDB definitions in the DURDBDFN record and/or DMB member in ACBLIB. IMS High Performance Change Accumulation Utility for replaces the IMS Parallel Change Accumulation product and provides the following new features and functional improvements. Improved operations Parallel Change Accumulation runs the standard Change Accumulation utility in parallel. Multiple jobs (address spaces) are triggered via multiple JOB statements in a single JCL stream, which has to be submitted by the user. IMS High Performance Change Accumulation will trigger a single job through the internal reader, without the need to submit the JCL manually. The job will function as a multitask address space, ensuring parallel streaming of both input and output data. Easier installation Eliminates the need for the XCM address space and subsystem. Improved flexibility and performance Parallel Input/Output ensures an elapsed execution time as short as possible. Input data (from RLDSs) and output data (new CAs) are processed in parallel. The user can control the number of parallel processes. If the number of parallel processes are user throttled, the excess processes will be processed in series after the first maximum number of tasks have completed. This results in elongated execution time, but the option is provided and up to the user to exploit. Single pass of input/output. Improved interface ISPF and Batch interface for operations. ISPF interfaces allow for customization, setup, and execution. Provides full support for DBRC IMS Parallel Reorganization for, Version 2 replaces IMS Parallel Reorganization Version 1 and provides the following new features and functional improvements. Execution of Unload, Reload, and Index Builder tasks as sub-tasks in one address space Elimination of the need for the XCM address space and subsystem Dynamic allocation of input and output database data sets Full DBRC support, including DBRC notification processing Automated name swapping for input and output database data sets Automated IMS command processing IMS Parallel Reorganization Version 2 provides the infrastructure to operate IMS High Performance Unload, IMS High Performance Load, and IMS Index Builder Version 2 products in parallel as a single Job step. The advantage of such operation is a significantly reduced batch window for full-function databases. Since the reorganization components are operated in parallel rather than sequentially, the reorganization operation takes only slightly longer than the longest component operation. IMS Parallel Reorganization Version 2 provides both manual and automated post processing capabilities to rename the input and output database data sets and notify DBRC. IBM Database Tools for Replications and Recovery IMS DataPropagator for, Version 3.1 supports an additional method of propagation of IMS DB changes: an MQSeries -based, asynchronous near real time propagation. With this method:

A new IMS-DPROP Capture Component captures the IMS database changes (the Source DBs) performed by IMS Batch, IMS BMP, and IMS TM application programs. A new IMS-DPROP Apply Component transforms the IMS DB changes into relational format and applies the changes to DB2 tables (the target tables). The transformation of the IMS data into relational format is based, as in previous IMS DPROP releases, on mapping definitions provided by the database administrators. The DB2 target tables can be on the same or on different systems from the IMS DBs. The transmission of the DB changes from the Capture to the Target Component is via the recoverable, buffered and queued asynchronous messaging services of MQSeries. When the teleprocessing connections between source and target systems and the system software are not overloaded, the elapsed time between the IMS DB updates and the DB2 table updates can often be as short as a couple of seconds. With IMS DataPropagator 3.1, an up-to-date copy of IMS data in DB2 tables for new DB2-based applications is possible. In addition to a near real-time propagation, the new MQSeries-based asynchronous propagation also supports a point-in-time propagation. With point-in-time propagation, the content of the DB2 target tables reflect some clearly identified logical point-in-times of the IMS source databases, for example, the logical end of a business day, the logical end of a business month, or the end of a specific IMS batch/bmp jobstream. Point-in-time propagation is typically used to propagate to data warehouses or decision support systems that subset of data that does not need to be propagated within seconds. The new IMS DataPropagator exploits the well established, first-class, high-performance, extremely reliable, queued messaging services of the MQSeries Software. Use of the familiar MQSeries Software allows enterprises to leverage their MQSeries Administration and Operations skills. Performance is an important design criteria for DataPropagator. Examples of performance features are: Multiple IMS database changes are transmitted within the same MQSeries message. The MQSeries message data is compressed. The efficient caching services of the Virtual Lookaside Facility (VLF) of is exploited. By using both IMS DataPropagator and DB2 DataPropagator you can propagate your IMS database changes to all the relational database management systems on all the platforms supported by the apply programs of DB2 DataPropagator. This is achieved by using: IMS DataPropagator to propagate the IMS database changes to DB2 staging tables DB2 DataPropagator apply programs to propagate the staging tables to the relational database management systems and platforms supported by DB2 DataPropagator which include: DB2 UDB for AS/400 DB2 UDB for AIX DB2 UDB for HP-UX DB2 UDB for Linux DB2 UDB for Sun Solaris DB2 UDB for Windows DB2 UDB for Oracle, SQL Server, Informix, and Sybase on a wide variety of platforms IMS DataPropagator 3.1 continues to support: Asynchronous propagation of changed IMS data to DB2 on based on the reading of the IMS archive logs. With this method, the elapsed time between the IMS database update and the DB2 table update is typically at least 30 minutes. Synchronous propagation of changed: IMS data to DB2 on DB2 data on to IMS With this method the IMS databases and the DB2 tables must be on the same System. Because the propagation is synchronous, the elapsed time of the database update operations of the application programs increases by the time required to propagate the changes to the target database management system. Whether of not this elapsed time increase is acceptable depends on the rate of propagated database updates. IBM Database Tools for Performance Management: DB2 Buffer Pool Analyzer for is a new product that provides: Data collection of virtual buffer pool activity via the DB2 IFI interface Comprehensive reporting of the buffer pool activity, including: Ordering by various identifiers (for example, buffer pool, plan, object, primary authorization id) Sorting by, for example, getpage, sequential prefetch, and synchronous read Filtering capability Loading into tables Simulation of buffer pool usage for Varying buffer pool size Different object placement Display of report and simulation results on workstation in form of spreadsheets, graphs and diagrams DB2 SQL Performance Analyzer for, Version 1.2 focuses on the integration of SQL Performance Analyzer with other database tools. Tool integration enables you to Launch DB2 SQL Performance Analyzer from the DB2 Administration Tool for Select SQL statements and invoke DB2 SQL Performance Analyzer from DB2 Query Monitor for Evaluate SQL statement costs on the workstation with DB2 Web Query for In addition, a catalog statistics extraction and migration facility gives you with the ability to: Import production catalog statistics from other DB2 subsystems into the local DB2 SQL Performance Analyzer test DB2 system Route remote executions of DB2 SQL Performance Analyzer to other DB2 systems using DRDA Connect

IMS Network Compression Facility for reduces the size of data streams sent to 3270 terminals logged on to IMS, without any changes to IMS application programs or MFS. IMS Network Compression Facility also includes an ISPF facility to display statistics and options, update options currently in use, and trace data streams. The data stream compression engine examines each outbound 3270 data stream, and uses standard 3270 data stream commands to reduce the size of outbound data streams. There are a number of separately controlled options used in the data stream compression process. These options are initially defined in an IMS PROCLIB member, and can be dynamically updated through the ISPF interface. Compression options can be excluded by node name, LTERM name, userid, IMS user name, transaction code, or MFS format name. The trace facility included in the ISPF interface allows the user to display both before and after compression images of the data streams sent to a given node name. The trace feature can be used to help diagnose problems not only with IMS Network Compression Facility, but with remote screen scraper applications and IMS application programs. IBM Database Tools for Application Management DB2 Data Export Facility for exports and copies data for application development and testing. The ISPF interface easily extracts referentially intact sets of data, or individual tables and/or rows, into a DB2LOAD-ready file format for copying to other DB2 subsystems. Copy selected source data quickly to test environments for faster application development and testing Find relationships between tables Navigate through table relationships with an intuitive forward/back, browser-like interface Identify referential integrity properties instantly as you navigate, including parent/child relationships, indexes, and columns Today s enterprise applications (such as ERP, CRM, and e-commerce) rely upon highly structured database environments with complex data relationships. These offer optimal performance, but can also present significant challenges to the developer or DBA supporting, modifying, or designing these or entirely new applications. DB2 Export Facility s robust support for highly selective data copying helps cut through the complexity normally associated with surgical problem resolution, populating test environments, or migrating applications to new or additional environments. DB2 Data Export Facility provides a simple step-through interface for accessing DB2 for subsystems and precisely extracting desired subsets of data. Starting anywhere in a referential set and navigating anywhere throughout the set, users can see the attributes of tables (such as columns, indexes, and parent/child relationships) as they move about. From any point (including on key values), DB2 Data Export Facility finds all table relationships and allows easy selection and export of precisely the desired scope of data among the referential set, such as exporting a table, or a table and all its dependencies, or only certain dependencies. DB2 Export Facility also provides exporting without referential integrity from a single table. Data exported in this manner can be narrowed down to the precise columns and rows desired. Columns may be omitted or remapped to new positions, partial sets of data may be retrieved, and transformations can be performed upon data values. For example, only data from every n rows may be copied (n SELECT statement), or sensitive data that would be inappropriate for a test environment (such as credit card numbers) may be masked. DB2 Web Query Tool for, Version 1.2 gives Web-based users robust data access and data migration operations for DB2 data on the OS/390 and platforms. Tool Integration The capabilities of DB2 Table Editor and DB2 SQL Performance Analyzer (if already licensed and installed) are now available from within the DB2 Web Query Tool browser interface. You may, for example, view SQL in DB2 Web Query Tool and quickly analyze the SQL for optimal performance. Or, when navigating through database objects in DB2 Web Query V1.2, a table may be opened up in the browser in table editing mode. DB2 Web Query Tool 1.2 expands user interfaces and available data operations in this release. WAP and Additional interfaces for WAP and users extend access to DB2 Web Query Tool functionality to virtually any location. With a WAP device or any client, users may now send commands to and receive responses from DB2 Web Query Tool, including running critical summary reports. Compare Data Comparing one set of data with another to highlight differences in structure (fields, types, indexes), permissions, and data Copy Data Copying data to another location, including as formatted text, CSV (and other delimiters), and HTML tables XSL In addition to existing data formatting in HTML and support for exporting data as XML, DB2 Web Query V1.2 now supports data display using XSL. Stylesheets may be generated to provide richer cross-platform data display options. DB2 Web Query Tool for iseries, Version 1.2 brings the power of DB2 Web Query Tool to the iseries. It provides the same Web-based data access, manipulation, and data migration operations for DB2 on the iseries as DB2 Web Query Tool on the all other DB2 family platforms. The Web server and servlet can run on a different computer than the DB2 database data server. DB2 Web Query Tool V1.2 supports WAP and interfaces, new data operations, and has XML/XSL support. IMS Connect for, Version 1.2 is extended to provide WebSphere Adapter support with the addition of the IMS Connector for Java J2C (J2EE Connector Architecture) Runtime support. J2C is the industry-wide standard version of the IBM Common Connector Framework. The IMS Connect for Java J2C Runtime support provides the runtime environment for Java applications developed using the VisualAge for Java IMS Connector for Java J2C Development support. VisualAge for Java can be used to customize connectors and generate Java Beans that are deployed into the WebSphere Application Server or any other application server that conforms to the J2C Connector Architecture

The IMS Connector support conforms to the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition, Connector Architecture Specification V1.0. This specification is similar to IBM s proprietary Common Connector Framework (CCF), which was delivered in VisualAge for Java, Version 2.0 along with the IMS Connector for Java for deployment in WebSphere Application Servers.
