You will be required to Use appropriate designs and page layouts for a Input text and other information into a Use desktop publishing software techniques to edit and format a Know uses of digital images Be able to use hardware and software to create and edit digital images Be able to comment on own work Unit 12: Desktop Publishing Software Plan and create webpages Use website software tools to structure and format webpages Publish webpages to the internet or an intranet Scenario At Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College we celebrate diversity. Our college life is enriched simply because we all look different, come from different backgrounds and bring different experiences into our learning environment. Your college really is a global community. The college marketing team would like you to explore this theme in view to producing a range of outcomes suitable to be used for promotional material. For this project you will explore the theme of diversity through portraiture. You will study yourselves and others. You will explore various new techniques and processes. You will learn about contemporary and historic artists, designers and media specialists. You will produce a range of digital portraits based on the work of Andy Warhol, Julian Opie, Eboy and Banksy. You will also produce two illustrations based on your experimentation and exploration of Photoshop s paint and line tools. Using your own digital artwork you will start to develop an online portfolio that will eventually showcase all your art, design and media work. You will learn how to develop web pages using Adobe Flash. Using Desktop Publishing Software you will also produce an A5 booklet version of your portfolio. You will publish your work to the internet. You will be required to annotate and describe your work. This must include a description of how you have produced your work, how successful you feel it is and a description of what went well and what could have been improved. TASKS Task 1 This task provides evidence towards: Working in pairs take a series of digital portraits using a digital camera. Take a range of different pictures of your partner. There is no limit to how many you take. Safely save your photographs using the correct file extension to your area of the G Drive network. (Unit 4: LO ) Your pictures should focus on headshots. These photographs will be used as a starting point for a range of different creative media activities. Look at the work of Andy Warhol and compare how he uses different camera angles to produce photographic portraits. Use a range of different poses that convey a range of different moods such as happiness and sadness.

3 You must submit 1. Selection of photographic portraits taken with a digital camera. Task 2 This task provides evidence towards: Use digital techniques (Photoshop) to create 4 x A3 images inspired by the work of Andy Warhol, 4 x Banksy and 1x Eboy based on the theme of portraits. (Unit 4: LO 2.2) Use Adobe Illustrator to create 1 x A3 image inspired by the work of Julian Opie. (Unit 4: LO 2.2) 1. Study and use the Andy Warhol illustration style to produce a self-portrait. 2. Study and use the Banksy stencil cutout and spray paint style to produce a self-portrait. Use the scanner to scan your final Banksy style illustration (Unit 4: LO2.1). 3. Produce a low-resolution self-portrait based and inspired by the work of Eboy. 4. Study and use the Julian Opie illustration style to produce a self-portrait. You must submit 1. 4 x Andy Warhol Style self-portrait, A3 illustrations 2. 1 x Banksy style self-portrait, A3 illustration plus 3 more different colour experiments by using Photoshop 3. 1 x Eboy self-portrait, A3 illustrations x Julian Ople, style self-portrait, A3 illustration using Adobe Illustrator. Task 3 This task provides evidence towards: Create a digital booklet that showcases your digital portrait work and your knowledge of the artists studied. You will use Adobe Indesign to produce your online digital booklet Each Chapter will focus on a different artist. Each chapter should include:- 1 page of interesting facts about the artist and a short description of their work, 1 page of secondary examples of the artist/designers work and visual investigation of the artist. 1 page of your work in the style of the artist designer. (or more pages if required) 1 page of how you feel about your work by writing and identifying what when well and what could have been improved. Each chapter will also need to have your version of the designer artist s work. Include headline/page title, brief description of how you made the image. (Unit 2: ,1.3, 1.4) Edit and format each page appropriately. Consider and adjust the size of your images and headers (Unit 2 3.1, 3.2, Unit ) Consider how you have created and used your different digital images, Input and format your content (Unit Unit , 2.3) Combine different material from different sources, including your own work, researched images and written content. (Unit Unit ) consider what went well and what was less successful. (Unit 4 3.1, 3.2) Save and store all your files and material on your Z Drive (Unit2 2.4 Unit ) Review your work and check for spelling mistakes by using the spell check facility (Unit 2 3.5) You must submit Task 4 1. Using InDesign produce your booklet as outlined above. This task provides evidence towards: Unit 12: Website Software Create a website that showcases your digital portrait work and your knowledge of artists studied. You will use your booklet to achieve this. This is a very modern way to produce and publish your work. Using digital software you can publish your work to multiple platforms, in this case you will have two different platforms, one will be print and another version will be published to the internet. Using your Indesign booklet as a template (Unit ) and starting point publish your work to a web site that showcases your digital portrait work. Decide on what content you will need to publish. This will probably be the same as your booklet. (Unit , 1.2) Enter and insert your content (Unit ) Configure Adobe Dreamweaver to enable you to set up and organise your website Using Dreamweaver set up and configure ftp detailing for ealing-media.co.uk Produce a home page and insert a hypertext link. Publish this web site to your area on (Unit 12- LO 3.1, 3.2) Using Indesign to publish to the internet is a relatively easy process. With few changes and adjustments you can turn your booklet from an indesign object to web enabled material. You can then publish this work using the export to PDF option. (Unit ) You need to consider what aspects of the content and layout you will need change to enable your indesign file to work successfully on the web. You will need to configure Adobe Dreamweaver correctly to enable you to develop your website. You will need to make a home page and successfully publish your work to the internet
