1 MAVEN Proficiency Review Web address User name Password Training site Name given to you at training Lastname123 (Case sensitive) 1) Update your information in the MAVEN test site -phone number, address in the notification field for immediate diseases. Look at your workflows to see the events that your town is currently responsible for (remember this is just a training site all the events in these workflows are fake so that you can practice using the system). 2) Click on the Online LBOH Notification for Routine disease workflow. A list of your routine disease events will come up (Note: most events that you will follow-up on start here). Click the blue link that says Administrative with the event ID. Answer Steps 1, 2, and 3 to let MDPH know that you ve seen and started your investigation then click Save. Hint: Click on the workflows icon. 3) Enter some information for your event in the different Question Packages Race/Ethnicity, Employer, Symptoms, Hospitalized (Yes/No), etc. Hint: Go to the different question packages to answer your case report questions for the event/case. 2 4) Perform Steps 4 and 5 for your event (this completes your work for the event/case and sends it back to MDPH). Hint: You can create events in MAVEN if you have to. Let s imagine you get a call from a doctor s office letting you know that someone in your town is suspected of having Meningitis. 5) Add a Meningitis event for your town by clicking on the Create Event icon. Choose Meningitis - Unknown Type from the drop down. If you do not add your town plus MA for state, then you won t see the event in your workflows since you only have rights to see your town(s). Once created, write down the number of the Event ID for later use. Version

3 6) Go back to your workflows to check that your Meningitis event is in the Online LBOH Notification for Immediate Disease workflow. 7) Answer Steps ) Add some more information into your event s Question Packages. This time leave a note to review and read as well (something short is fine). 9) Answer Steps 4 and 5 for your event. 10) Unload the event (this just releases it back to Cyberville so the next person can edit or update the variables from the Case Report Form). 4 11) Now go back into your workflows and click into My Open Tasks. Find the Hepatitis B Mother event and practice by adding a series of vaccines into Question Package #4. Use different dates as you would in a real Hep B Vaccine Series with each. Hint: Version

5 12) Create a child as a contact to your Hep B mother and complete the vaccine question package for this event as well. Hint: There are two ways to do this click on the icon or click on the word View where it lists Linked Events contacts. The child would most likely live in the same house, so you can use the same address as the mother and select Household Contact as contact type. 13) Go into the Tasks tab to complete the task. 14) Complete any other event in your workflows and mark it as Lost to follow-up. Hint: The variable is in the Administrative Question Package (#1). For lost to follow-up events - don t forget to leave a note letting the Epi/MDPH know that outreach was attempted for physician and/or patient. We need the documentation if you mark events as lost to follow-up. Version

6 15) Go back into your Meningitis Event. Hint: You can use your push pin to see the last 30 events you accessed. 16) Add an apartment number to your event you created. Hint: Find the person tab, click on it, and then click on Edit Person (grey button). You will track your town(s) Tuberculosis events in MAVEN as well. Instead of conducting an investigation with a Case Report Form (CRF) your role will be to manage the patient s therapy. Let s imagine that you ve been notified of a new suspect case of Tuberculosis in MAVEN. 17) Go to the main workflow screen. In your TB - Events where TB suspect/case notification not acknowledged workflow accept notification for your TB Active event the same way you acknowledge your other events answer Steps 1-3. Please note that you don t need to assign yourself tasks for TB Active events. Once you answer Steps 1-3 the event will sit in the TB - Online LBOH needs final review workflow for the duration of the patient s therapy. Version

7 When you have an active case of Tuberculosis you will be responsible for conducting an initial assessment. Under your Question Packages you will notice a dropdown menu for wizards. A Wizard is a tool that plucks questions from multiple packages and displays them in one easy place for you to review or enter data. 18) Select the Nursing Form Wizard and click View Wizard. When the Nursing Form opens up answer LBOH initial assessment done and then choose 3 adherence concerns. When you re done click Save. Let s pretend that your TB case doesn t speak English. You can request help from a Community Health Worker in MAVEN. 19) Open the Care Plan / Followup Question package and select Yes for Outreach requested. You will need to enter today s date, your name, and that you re from a BOH/TB Clinic. In Reason for Referral put why you re requesting assistance. After you do this your event will sit in the TB - Outreach requested and not assigned workflow until your request has been answered. Version

8 20) Go back to your workflows again. This time find and open the TB - Online LBOH labs for review workflow. The test event in here should look familiar it s the same one that you accepted notification for. While someone is on therapy for TB, they may get tested several times. Whenever you get a new or updated lab report for your case, they will show up in this workflow. Click on the event and view the lab report. You can do this from the Lab Results tab or by looking at documents in the printer icon. Are there any results? Was the sample tested for susceptibilities? After you have reviewed the lab report go back to the workflow to update the LBOH Lab Review Date. Hint: Check off the box next to the event ID and click Update LBOH Lab Review Date. 21) You will be managing this TB case until treatment has been completed. Log any followup encounters you have with the patient in the Care Plan / Followup Question Package. Enter a follow-up encounter date with a note in the Comments section. Add a second date and note by clicking Add New. When you are done, go back to the Administrative Question Package to complete your 5 Steps. This will remove the event from your TB - Online LBOH needs final review workflow. Version

9 22) Print off a copy of TEST FBI Complaint Worksheet #1. The worksheet can be found in the Foodborne Illness Complaint (FBI) Resources folder in the MAVEN help section. 23) Create FBI Complaint using FBI Complaint Worksheet #1 Version

10 24) Once created, note the MAVENID#: 25) Search for all FBI Complaints involving catfish. Write down the MAVEN ID# of the event(s) you find: 26) Access MAVEN ID# How many linked events are there?
