2 Background Clinical Practitioners (aka Infection Preventionists) communicate with DPH-Epi-ofthe-day (EOD) regarding cases that need additional information and follow-up The functionality allowing CP s to access identified cases was integrated into MAVEN in April 2017 Created notification for disease events Created two workflows for notification and follow-up

3 Goals for today How to logon to MAVEN Understand basic MAVEN functionality (question packages, searching, labs, notes, workflows, attachments, wizards) Enter relevant clinical information into MAVEN Add notes of clinical relevance

4 Logon to MAVEN MAVEN is accessible by logging into the Virtual Gateway(VG) at Use the username and password provided by the virtual gateway(sent by ) to login and access the MAVEN system

5 MAVEN Roles/Groups Role-based access Can see events/cases assigned to your facility Can create events when needed (NMEN as an example) notification of immediate diseases to the LBOH notification of cases if relevance to Clinical Practitioner s

6 Using MAVEN: Splash screen Once you have logged into MAVEN, you will initially be brought to the splash screen which will highlight notifications, recent events, and assigned tasks

8 MAVEN Toolbar Share: share cases with other users Create: create a new relevant case Workflow: events that are pending your action Search bar: Enter the MAVEN ID associated with your facility

9 MAVEN Toolbar contd.. Help Section: Open for tip sheets Push Pin: A list of your most recent events. This will be the easiest way to find your facility s events after your have opened it once. Tasks: Open for all pending assignments Search window : Search for event from your facility- with other search parameters Print: Print Templates

10 Using MAVEN: Search Window Once back on the splash screen, you will then want to open your site s event id by entering the given id into the Search bar

11 Using MAVEN: Push Pin After doing this once, you can then use your push pin to access your event

12 MAVEN Workflows Notification and Follow-up workflows to manage your events/cases Shared Cases workflow when we need to ask for additional information from cases of relevance

13 MAVEN Question Packages Captures all data elements required for surveillance and case management Mirrors the case report form for GAS events

21 Scenario: Grp A Strep lab creates an event in MAVEN Positive lab received either via fax or electronically Event is created and EOD notified they confirm the case and contact LBOH EOD determines a request for additional information is needed from clinical facility/hospital EOD assigns the event to the facility and sends out an to the group

22 CP receives or text message via events of clinical relevance

24 CP Questions (Admin QP) EOD assigns event to your facility goes out to the CP group CP Acknowledged - lets us know you acknowledged the event (date, name, phone) CP Follow-Up complete when you have completed the case investigation from your side of things

25 MAVEN Attachments Attachments allow for medical notes or other types of documents you want to share via MAVEN

30 Next Steps Setting up your Virtual Gateway account We have assigned some events to your workflows Complete the steps in the Clinical Practitioner Administrative section to remove them from workflows

31 Key Concepts and tips MAVEN is a web-based surveillance system Events are used to track specific kinds of information, including disease, town and facility-specific information Always select the X at the top right of the event when you are finished working in your identified event Never use the browser s back button Instead use the Dashboard buttons to navigate

32 Key Concepts and tips contd.. Access the Help Button for MAVEN tips and guides Log out when you are finished working Permission to see events in MAVEN and the information in those events is based on access assigned to your username You will only see the event id associated with your facility

Never share your password with anyone or allow anyone to log on to MAVEN using your username If you have staff members that need to use MAVEN, someone from MDPH will be happy to set them up with an account Your actions in MAVEN are tracked and routinely audited The MAVEN case/event id associated with your facility can be ed
