1 How to: Use Blast Templates What is Blast? Blast is a one-way messaging application that allows your office to engage with multiple patients at one time via text messages, phone calls, s, or secure portal messages. Providers can broadcast messages to multiple patients at one time. Blast is not about communicating with one patient regarding their personal information. Instead it s a means of communicating with multiple patients at one time for a specific reason. You can use Blast to automatically send messages to patients with: Instructions for future appointments Follow-up information asking patients if they have any questions about their appointment/medications Office announcements, such as an early closing for inclement weather Birthday Wishes You can also use blast to generate revenue for your office by sending messages about: Annual physicals Annual wellness appointments for Medicare patients Sports physicals for athletes Notifications about seasonal health concerns and precautions Flu shots and other seasonal messages Immunizations Back-to-school checkups How to: Use Blast Templates Updated August, 2018 Page 1 of 5
2 What are Blast Templates? Blast Templates are messaging templates with pre-set text. Templates are specific to delivery methods. Methods include , phone, text, and patient portal. What are the benefits of Blast Templates? Use Blast Templates to quickly send common messages so that you don t have to type the same message each time. For example, if you regularly send follow-up messages to patients after their appointments, this feature lets you send those messages by simply choosing an appointment follow-up template instead of typing out the whole message every time. How do I set up Blast Templates? Follow these step-by-step instructions. 1. From the Inbox, go to Menu. 2. Select Admin. 3. Select Blast Configuration. 4. The Blast menu will open. 5. Select the Templates tab. How to: Use Blast Templates Updated August, 2018 Page 2 of 5
3 Select New to create a template. TIP: Set up the same template content for each method. For example, an appointment followup template for and for text. 7. If you previously entered any templates, they will be displayed. 8. Choose the method for the template you want to create: a. Template b. Portal Template c. Telephone Template d. Text Template 9. 4 10. Give your template a name. 11. For and patient portal templates, enter a Subject. 12. Enter the message you would like to use for this template. 13. Use brackets in the text of the message to note variables for personalizing the message. 5 information. For example, your message will say Bill in place of the [firstname]. 14. The complete list of variables is displayed in this screen. 15. Make sure the Active checkbox is selected if you want to use this template. NOTE: This checkbox will be selected by default. It indicates that this template is avialable to be used when sending Blast messages. 16. Select Save to finish.
