1 Your Inbox Unread messages have a white background while read ones are gray. Google Application Links Clicking here provides you with access to other Google Apps. Gmail Links Click your address to access your Google Apps account settings, view privacy information, or sign out of Google Apps. Options Gear This enables you to access Gmail settings and online help. The settings allows you to customize your version by enabling labs, themes, keyboard
2 shortcuts, or defining you signature. You also can manage labels & filters. Search Field Gmail relies on the power of Google search to quickly find the messages you re looking for. There is also an advanced search operators to assist. Filters Filters allow you to manage the flow of incoming messages. You can label, archive, delete, star your messages and more with filters. Move through messages If you have many messages in your inbox, use the newer and older buttons to move through your messages. Settings Gear This allows your to define your display density setting (space between messages and objects in Gmail), access other settings or themes, and get Gmail help. Access other Gmail features Click Mail to access other Gmail features like Google Contacts and Google Tasks. Action Buttons Gmail displays a limited number of actions buttons. These allow you to select specific messages in your inbox, refresh your inbox, or mark all messages as read from the More drop- down menu. By selecting one or more messages in your inbox will display additional action buttons. Inbox Styles Everyone is different, so there are various styles to fit your needs. Labels Labels are similar to folders but offer much more flexibility. You can drag one or more label to a single message, or one or more messages to a single label. You can also color code your labels. The All Mail label is your archive. To reduce clutter in your inbox, move messages you ve read from your inbox to the All Mail label. Messages in the All Mail label are never deleted and are always available by clicking on the label link or by quickly searching. Custom Labels Labels enable you to tag your . Unlike folders, you can tag your messages with multiple labels. You can create your own custom labels, nested labels, and change the colors.
3 Stars Click the star to add a visual indicator for that s important to you. You can add other stars, such as the exclamation point by modifying your preference on the General Tab of Gmail Settings. Attachments The paperclip is a visual indication that there is an attachment associated with the message. A calendar icon indicates the message has an invitation associated with it. Gmail Team s The first time you open your inbox, the Gmail team messages provide you with messages to learn about getting started with Gmail. Adjustable Sections The left- hand side of Gmail is adjustable so you can see more or less of you labels while keeping Chat in focus at all times. Chat Google Chat enables you to chat in real- time with your colleagues. You can view the status of you chat contacts to see if they re available, busy, or offline. You can set your status as well. Chat/Gadget Toggle This allows you to toggle between Chat and any gadget you have added to Gmail. Storage Google Apps for Education provides each user with 30 GB (gigabytes) of storage. This is nearly 60 times the space you get with other services.
4 Chat If you want to add contacts to your chat list you Click inside the search box and you can type their and click invite to chat. After they accept your invitation, you can click on their name and chat away.
5 Video Call You can use video calls (Google Hangouts) to communicate with Contacts. Just hover you mouse over your contact name and if you already have invited them to chat with you (and they accepted) you will see the start a video call option. Telephone Call Click on the phone icon and a dial Pad will appear. Simply enter the Phone number and click call.
