1 HOW TO SETUP RECEPTION DURESS Providing a safe and simple method for receptionists to request urgent assistance at the reception desk has never been easier than with WhosOnLocation s built in Reception Duress tool. WHY WOULD YOU NEED RECEPTION DURESS? The reasons for using the Reception Duress tool will depend on the propensity or likelihood of your receptionist being put at risk by an abusive, or aggressive visitor or customer at the reception area. Reception areas by their very nature tend to be open to the public particularly government, local government, utilities companies, and corporate reception areas. By design this means the general public can approach the receptionist without having to navigate any form of physical barrier or check point. If for any reason the receptionist feels their safety is at risk, then the ability for them to easily activate a request for help should be available to them without there being an obvious action alerting the hostile visitor or person to their actions. HOW DOES IT WORK? The receptionist must be logged onto WhosOnLocation and be in the Reception Manager screen. They may have their browser minimised as they may be working on other tasks on the PC but regardless, with a click of the mouse they should be able to access the main Reception Manager screen below: 1 P a g e

2 To activate the Reception Duress the receptionist simply clicks on the Reception Duress icon located in the top of the Reception Manager screen. The receptionist is asked to confirm if they want the Duress sent. Clicking Confirm will alert all Duress Recipients for the location that the receptionist requires assistance NOW. 3 ACTIVATING THE DURESS FROM THE KIOSK In the event your receptionist finds themselves on the public side of the reception counter AND your reception area has a visitor kiosk, the receptionist can activate the Duress by either tapping the Enter key 4 times on a keyboard connected to the kiosk or by tapping any of the 4 corners of the touchscreen 4 times. The kiosk screen will fade slightly to indicate you have activated the Duress but there is no bright red indicator or flashing message to alert the offending person as to your actions... or by tapping any of the 4 corners of the touchscreen 4 times. 4 HOW TO SETUP RECEPTION DURESS Setting up Reception Duress for any location only takes a few minutes. 1. Login as an Administrator 2. Select the location you wish to activate Reception Duress for (use the Change Location button located in top right of Administration screen to find other locations setup in your WhosOnLocation account). 3. With the correct location selected (indicated here) select Reception Duress. 4 P a g e

5 4. In the Duress Settings tab select the tick box (YES) to Enable Reception Duress 5. Select the 2nd tab titled Reception Duress Recipients 6. Enter the Names, Mobile numbers, and addresses of your Duress Recipients, scroll to the bottom of the screen and select Save. 5 P a g e
