1 South Dakota Orientation to Child Care Step-by-Step Instructions for Setting Up a D2L Account and registering for the Orientation Training The South Dakota Orientation to Child Care on-demand training series is being offered through the D2L learning platform. To access the training, each individual will need to set up an account through the SDSU D2L platform. Below are the step-by-step directions on setting an account and accessing the D2L system. NOTE: If you have already registered for a D2L account AND completed the Orientation Registration process, use this link to log back into your account: Setting up a D2L Account To access the on demand Orientation topics, you first must have access to D2L. D2L is the learning system used by the SD Board of Regents universities for online classes. Step 1: Do you have an existing D2L account? If your answer is YES, you have taken an online college course or some other course offered through D2L and have a username and password, you can use that same account to access the SD Orientation training. Continue with Step 3 below. If your answer is NO, go to Step 2 now. STEP 2: For users who DO NOT have an existing D2L account, click on the link below to set up your D2L account: Select I do not have a username and password then click Submit. 1 P a g e

2 On the next screen select: Early Childhood Enrichment: SD Orientation to Child Care Click on Register 2 P a g e

3 Enter your registration information. This will only be done once. Be sure to list the address you will be using for any correspondence regarding Orientation. (Everyone must have their own address) Click on Submit A Confirmation Screen will appear. Verify that your information is correct and then click Finish. Review your information listed here. 4 THIS NEXT STEP IS VERY IMPORTANT. BE SURE TO FOLLOW EACH STEP COMPLETELY. Next you will see a LOGIN Account Created screen which includes your Username (FirstName.LastName) and a TEMPORARY Password. WRITE DOWN THE TEMPORARY PASSWORD (it is case sensitive). This password will not be ed to you so you need to write it down exactly as shown. Click LOGIN NOW. You will see this screen next: Enter your Username (Firstname.Lastname) and TEMPORARY Password here. Click LOGIN. You will then be asked to change the temporary password to a password of your choice. 4 P a g e

5 Select and enter a new password for your account and then click on Save Once you have logged in and changed your password, you will be brought to this page. Simply click on the SD Orientation to Child Care link under the My Courses section to access the course. 5 P a g e

6 You will be taken to the Course Home Page and be ready to begin accessing the Orientation topics. Be sure to view the Understanding the Learning Platform video under START HERE. This will provide you an overview of how the course is set up and allow you to easily access the training content. When you are ready to end your session, simple click on LOG OUT located on the yellow navigation bar. When you are ready to return to the site, click on this link to log back into your account: We recommend setting this link as a bookmark on your computer. Step 3: For existing D2L Students. Click on the link below: Select I have an existing username and password then click Submit. 6 P a g e

7 You will be directed here to supply your existing username and password. Click Login. On the next screen select: Early Childhood Enrichment SD Orientation to Child Care Click on Register 7 P a g e
