1 How To: Geocode in the Quest Analytics Suite 1. When the software is open, select the Tools dropdown. 2. Click the option for Geocode a Table 3. On the left-hand side of the pop up box there are 5 circles indicating the 5 steps to Geocode. The current step is always indicated by a green-filled circle. Source Table 4. Click the Source Table button, and navigate to the Provider Group or Employee Group dataset that you want to geocode. 5. Select the radio button to determine if you are using a Provider or Employee dataset. Note: Employee data is defaulted to Listing. If you are using a Census dataset, make sure to change the selected radio button. 6. If you are using a Microsoft Access dataset, you have the option to Geocode this Table which will not overwrite your data, but will add columns to the data. This option will also require that your data has a Primary Key/Row ID.

2 7. Specify the format for the destination table with the drop down. This can be different from the original file type. 8. Click the button to define where you would like to save the geocoded file. 9. Enter a table name (without punctuation or symbols) for the new geocoded table. 10. When finished with all the selections in this section click the button. Input Fields Page 11. This page is where the Quest Analytics Suite maps the required input fields for geocoding. 12. The Zip Code field is a required input. 13. Providing input address information will lead to a more accurate latitude/longitude. 14. Use the dropdowns on the right-hand side to select the correct fields from the original data. 15. Click the button after you have mapped all your information. Output Fields page 16. The Quest Analytics Suite will add the columns for outputting the geocode results. 17. Latitude, Longitude, GeoInfo, Standard Zip, County SSA, and County will be output by default.

3 18. If you would like to add any non-default options, you can select an existing column by clicking the drop down on the right side. 19. The Quest Analytics Suite can also create a new column. Click in a box then type in the column name that will be output. (A good example of this is standardizing the data by typing standard address, standard city, and standard state into the output boxes for standard address, standard city, and standard state.) 20. Click the button after you have mapped all your information. Database Filter Page 21. Database filters can be applied to geocode a subset of the data. 22. Once the filter is applied click the button to continue. (Note: adding a filter here is optional.) Confirmation of Options 23. The last screen is confirmation of the options that were chosen. 24. To save this configuration, click the Save Settings to File button. These settings can be loaded at the initial screen. 25. Click the button to start geocoding.

4 Other Output Fields Descriptions Latitude East/West point based off WGS 84 (World Geodetic System 1984) Longitude North/South point based off WGS 84 (World Geodetic System 1984) GeoInfo Identifies how the record was geocoded. The terms reveal if the input address was an exact match to the Quest Analytics Suite system data, or if the address is not an address based geocode. The following are the additional outputs for this field: Address Exact The record was geocoded at the address level. Address Relaxed the record was geocoded at the address level, but a component was missing, such as directional prefixes/suffixes or street type. Another potential scenario is If the City and State fields match up to the street address, but only the zip is incorrect... then the system will attempt to match without the zip code and may get an Address Relaxed outcome. Zip Point The zip code is a point zip (PO Box, Building, Office, etc.) and the latitude and longitude are assigned based on the specific point in the zip code. An example of a Zip Point would be the Empire State Building, as it has its own zip code. Zip Distributive These records were not geocoded at the address level and then defaulted to an algorithm using population patterns within the zip code to assume a latitude and longitude. Zip distributive points will be more heavily plotted in those areas of a zip code that are more densely populated. Keep in mind that the points plotted are approximate, and are not based upon the actual street address. Not Geocoded Invalid Zip The zip code is not valid. AddressRelaxed ZipMismatched While the record contained a full street address, the Zip Code was invalid or missing. Zip Code Correction replaced this record s invalid or missing zip code with the correct zip code. Adding the Standard Zip in the geocoding process will allow you to see the correct zip code. Additionally, it is highly recommended to map to the Standard Zip column in your group resource. Zip Legacy Refers to a zip code that is no longer valid, but is still used in calculations for your reports. We did this because our users often run into outdated zips in member files. So, for the more recently outdated zips, we attribute the legacy zip code s previous longitude and latitude. The Zip-Legacy zip code will not plot on a map, however it will be included in the calculations in your reports. Standard Address based on the input address fields, the geocoder will determine if the address has a match to the Quest Analytics Suite system data and will return a standard address field to uniform your address information. If the address is marked zip distributive in the GeoInfo column, the standard address will be the same as your input address field.

5 Standard City Based on the input address fields, the Geocoder will determine the standard city the address belongs to within the Quest Analytics Suite system data. Standard State Based on the input address fields, the Geocoder will determine the standard state the address belongs to within the Quest Analytics Suite system data. Standard Zip Based on the input address, city, state, and zip code fields, the Geocoder will determine the standard zip code the address belongs to within the Quest Analytics Suite system data. Zip Class Based on the input address, city, state, and zip code fields, the Geocoder will determine the zip code classification the standard zip code belongs to within the Quest Analytics Suite system data. This can be set to population density or US census methodology of assigning urban, suburban, and rural zip code classifications. County Name Based on the input address, city, state, and zip code fields, the Geocoder will determine the standard county the address belongs to within the Quest Analytics Suite system data. County Class Based on the input address, city, state, and zip code fields, the Geocoder will determine the county classification the standard county belongs to within the Quest Analytics Suite system data. These county classifications are the Medicare county classifications (Large Metro, Metro, Micro, Rural, and CEAC). County FIPS 5 digit Federal Information Processing Standard which uniquely identifies counties in the United States. County SSA 5 digit county code created by the Social Security Administration to uniquely identify counties in the United States. CBSA Code Unique code given to each Core Based Statistical Area from OMB (Office of Management and Budget). CBSA Name: OMB (Office of Management and Budget) name for each Core Based Statistical Area.
