Due to Food Safety Regulations, I understand Shares cannot be left out after pickup time. I have read, understand, and agree to comply with the BCF Veggie Share Program policies. By joining BCF s CSA, both the Farm and Member are agreeing to share in the risk of crop failure, due to factors such as inclement weather, pests, and acts of God. If a crop failure does happen, the Farm s normal policy is the crops may be substituted with crops from another farm that follows the same growing practices. In the event that this occurs, the products will be labeled with what farm they are from. I understand that the BCF Veggie Share Program provides me with no guarantee of the weekly quantity,

2 quality, or exact type of produce I will receive. However, the grower pledges to use organic practices and do everything possible to provide me with the highest quality produce available. When the farm experiences a crop surplus with specific CSA crops, Farm will provide Member with the opportunity to buy additional products during the CSA pick up, beyond the weekly CSA share. The price will be at market value. I understand if my share is not picked up two weeks in a row, without informing the Project Manager of my absence, then my share will be placed on hold and no longer packaged until communications have been made with the Project Manager or YMCA Director. After communications, the following week the share will be packed for pick up again. There are no refunds for failing to pick up share or placing a share on hold. I understand that there are risks involved in food production and as a shareholder I will share the weekly risk of availability with the grower and other members. Indemnification and Hold Harmless By signing this Agreement, Member hereby releases, indemnifies and agrees to hold Hockomock YMCA, its owners, agents and employees harmless from any and all claims, damage and/or liability he or she might suffer from being on the Farm property, being at any of the CSA pick-up locations or from the purchase of a CSA membership, including but not limited to, the use or consumption of any food provided by the Farm Signature Date

3 Bellingham Community Farm Veggie Share Program - Info & Policies The Bellingham Community Farm is a cooperative project between the Hockomock Area YMCA and the Town of Bellingham. The goal of the Bellingham Community Farm is to provide the local community with a variety of avenues to access and learn about sustainably and locally grown food. The Share Our Veggie Share Program is perfect for individuals or families interested in receiving fresh vegetables on a weekly basis in addition to learning about the food they eat. In 2018, the Farm s CSA program runs for approximately 20 weeks, or from approximately June to end of October. Member will receive on average $ $25.00 worth of product for each weekly distribution during the CSA season. This will typically mean 1 box each pick up. We are offering shares for up to 45 members. We intend to distribute vegetables for 20 weeks from June through October. Members will be notified of start and end dates by the end of May. Crops on the planting list season will include: Peas, Spinach, Green Beans, Broccoli, Onion, Scallion, Leeks, Sweet Potatoes, Radish, Beets, Turnip, Parsnip, Carrot, Lettuces, Kale, Swiss Chard, Pak Choy, Arugula, Tomatoes, Eggplant, Peppers, Cabbages, Summer and Winter Squashes, Cucumbers, Melons, Herbs, and more! The vegetables distributed each week will vary with the season. The share size is based on a typical CSA share and priced at $550. Members can expect to receive 5-8 items per week. The Pickup Pickups will be held at the garden (200 Center Street in Bellingham) between the hours of 3:00-5:30 PM on Wednesday or Friday, rain or shine. Please bring a bag or basket to pick up. All veggies will be laid out, labelled, and ready to take when you arrive. *We ask all members to please be respectful of pick up days and times. The shares are harvested the morning of pickup to ensure freshness. The harvest is planned according to how many members will be picking up. *We CANNOT accommodate switching pickup days. If Member cannot pick up Member s share, Member must arrange for a substitute to pick up their share. Member will need to explain the pick up site location and procedures to Member s substitute. Any shares not retrieved in a timely fashion will be donated the next day. *If you are on vacation or can t make it pick up, you can always send a friend in your place.

4 *The YMCA is not responsible for your share after pickup hours. As a courtesy, shares that haven t been picked up will be left at the garden until noon the next day. If left, they can be picked up after 6PM or early the next day. If relying on this option, please understand that there is no refrigeration at the garden, and the space is open to the community. *If you cannot make your pick up and cannot send someone in your place, please communitygarden@hockymca.org. Communications between Farm and Member The best way to communicate with the Farm is via . Our is communitygarden@hockymca.org. The Farm staff will do our best to respond as soon as possible, but please understand that we spend much of our time in the field growing your food and are not always able to send a same day response. Please contact us with any news of the following: changes to your postal or address, problems with your pick up location, or dissatisfaction with your share. We will communicate with Members primarily by . When you sign up, you will be added to our distribution list. Please regularly read your from the Farm. We rely on to communicate important information, such as necessary changes to your distribution schedule or notices of our Farm events. We will do our best to update our website with information on the crops available each week. Updates will include recipes, what to expect in the weekly share, and any pertinent crop information. In an effort to keep weekly distribution information accurate, s will typically be sent out Monday or Tuesday. Frequently Asked Questions Q. Will a share feed my family for the week? A. Vegetable consumption varies widely throughout households. We suggest that our share size will feed 2 moderate veggie eaters for the week. If you are part of a larger group that eats fresh veggies a few times a week, this share size may be perfect for you, too. Q. I missed my pickup. Can I pick up some extra veggies next week? A. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate these requests. It is important for our members to understand that it is their responsibility to pick up their share on their chosen pickup day. Q. Are the veggies organic? A. The crops are grown using organic practices, but we do not have organic certification. What this means is that, yes, the veggies are organic, but that there is not an organization monitoring our practices. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have about what we use in the field. We do not use any chemically derived herbicides or pesticides. We use OMRI approved field amendments. We do not use genetically engineered seed.

5 Q. What kinds of seeds are used? A. We use heirloom, organic, and open pollinated seeds. We do not use GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms) Q. Are the veggies washed? A. Most of the veggies will be given a quick wash to remove their field heat and keep them fresh and in accordance with the Federal Food Modernization Act. It is recommended to give them another good wash at home to ensure that any remaining sediment or critters will be removed. Q. Are volunteer hours required? A. Hours are not required, but we are always looking for committed volunteers. If interested, please get in touch. We would love to have you involved in the project!
