1 Searching for Roommates Using RoomeeZ Fall Spring 2019 April 15 Housing Application Opens July 6 Deadline to Create Your Roommate Group (RG) (If you want to select your own room during the room selection time frame, you must create a Roommate Group. If you don t create a Roommate Group, you will be matched with a roommate or roommates based on your profile preferences and then assigned to a room.) July 7 Your Specific Room Selection Start Time Will Be Revealed July 9 July 13 Room Selection Week ** (This week is when students with Roommate Groups can actually select their rooms based on the unique start time that will be revealed on July 7th. Once this start time begins, applicants will have from that start time until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, July 13, to select their room.) ** If you have questions during the room selection process, reslife@hamline.edu. We will be monitoring this inbox from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. to provide as much help as possible. 1

2 Very Important Tips: You must complete your Housing Application and My Roommate Profile before you can create a Roommate Group or begin searching for roommates. In order to select your room during Room Selection Week, you must set up a Roommate Group. This is what your dashboard will look like after you have completed your Housing Application. This document will show you how to: Create a Roommate Group with someone that you know! (i.e. High School friend) Create a Roommate Group using the RoomeeZ application to set up filters, send contact requests and use social media to research people that you don t know in an effort to find potential roommates that have similar preferences as you. 2

3 General Tips on How to Set Up a Roommate Group 1. Designate an Owner: Decide which one of you will be the creator of the Roommate Group a.k.a. the Owner of the Roommate Group. 2. Address: As the Owner, make sure you know the EXACT address your friend (future roommate) used when they applied to the university. 3. Housing Application Completed: All Roommate Group members must have completed their own housing application. 4. Bulletins and Resources: The Resources section will show you building floor plans. 5. Number of Beds Must Match Roommate Group Members: During Room Selection Week, the system is set to only let you see and choose rooms that have the same number of open beds as there are people in your Roommate Group. (July 6th is deadline to create Roommate Groups) 6. All Gender Roommate Groups: If you want to live in an All Gender location, you will be able to select members for your Roommate Group whose gender identity is different from your own. 7. Gender Intuitive Placement: If you have a mixed gender Roommate Group, the system will only show you those rooms that are available in the All Gender locations. (See Page #9 / Living on Campus Document) 3

From your dashboard, click on Roommate Groups and the dashboard will display this page below.

4 Section #1: How to Set Up a Roommate Group with Someone You Know Tip: Dates and deadlines in the screenshots are generic dates provided by erezlife. From your dashboard, click on Roommate Groups and the dashboard will display this page below. Find the correct term (Fall 2018) and then click on Create new roommate group. This new page will appear and you will need to create a name for your Roommate Group. 4

5 The Roommate Group owner, will see their name here. This person is the only one who can add/remove names. The number of roommates allowed in this section depends on the room type you are interested in living. If your Roommate Group is interested in selecting a 4-person room (Quad), then there will need to be 3 names listed here. (Click save ). If your Roommate Group is interested in a 2-person room (Double), then there will need to be only 1 name listed here. (Click save ) Add your future roommate s exact address they used when they applied to the University. 5

6 Your first roommate s name has been added under the Members section. Once the Owner has added a member to the Roommate Group, an will be sent to that member that says: You ve Been Invited to Join a Roommate Group. The Owner s dashboard will show the name / names of all new members added to the Roommate Group. 6

What do I do after I receive the email stating that I have been invited to a Roommate Group? If you get an email that says you have been invited to join a Roommate Group, log into hamline.erezlife.

If you get an that says you have been invited to join a Roommate Group, log into hamline.erezlife.com, and click on Roommate Groups. Click on the unchecked button underneath My Choice that is located next to the Roommate Group Name. After that, a green check will appear next to the invited person s name. 7

8 Section #2: How to Use the RoomeeZ Application to Search for a Roommate and Set Up a Roommate Group Click here. You will be taken to the Roommate Profile page. Provide information about yourself and then begin searching for other students with similar preferences. Turn on your profile. Upload a picture. Tell people your name. Describe yourself short version. Describe yourself long version. (Be thoughtful as this will be the first impression your future roommate has of you.) 8

10 Add all of your social media contact information you feel comfortable sharing. What s next? Done with your own profile? Listed your social media info? You are ready to access the Roommate Search and Contacts menus. Use the filters and search for potential roommates with similar habits (i.e. non-smoker, clean, etc.) Click Search. (If you do not use any filters and just hit search, you will see everyone who has completed a RoomeeZ profile) 10

11 Based on your filters, a list of contacts will appear on your dashboard in a section that says Roommate search results. For each result, you can send a contact request to get to know each other better. If it s a great match, then click Add to Roommate Group and you re all set for Room Selection Week! If it s not a great match, you can withdraw the contact request or block them and continue searching for a more compatible roommate. Remember: In order to select your room during Room Selection Week, you must set up a Roommate Group by July 6th 11

12 Once one person sends a contact request to another via RoomeeZ, an will be sent letting the applicant know they need to approve a contact request by logging into hamline.erezlife.com All contacts are easily viewable from the Contacts menu.
