2 What is the Whitecap Notification System? The Whitecap Dakota First Nation will use the Whitecap Notification System [powered by Everbridge] to make sure you know about public safety issues and community events 2
3 How Does the System Work? Whitecap Notification System sends a message through your primary contact path. If you don't confirm receipt of the message, the system will try to reach your second contact path and continues trying to reach you until you confirm receipt. Severe Weather Example: 1. Severe weather is rapidly approaching. 2. Whitecap Notification System is used to inform residents and businesses. 3. System contacts hundreds of residents instantly by phone, , text, push notification and more. 4. Recipients receive instructions for safety precautions and evacuation. 3

7 How Can I Sign Up? Please see the attached on how to register it only takes about a minute to enroll! Sign up any time! You will start receiving updates on the official roll-out date of May 1 st, Or pick up a manual sign-up sheet at one of the several Community locations: Government Band Office Business Centre Health Centre Housing & Public Works Elders Centre Elementary School 7

9 WHITECAP NOTIFICATION SYSTEM SIGN-UP INSTRUCTIONS OPT-IN Go to Click on Sign Up button to add your information to this notification system. You will be asked to create an account: Create a Username and Password Usernames must be a minimum of 4 acceptable characters. Acceptable characters are: uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, period, dash (-), underscore (_), and at symbol (@). No other characters or symbols are permitted at this time. Password must be 8 to 64 characters long and contain at least one letter and one number. Special characters are permitted, but limited to!@#$%^&*(). Insert First Name, Last Name, Security Question and Security Answer Enter a Registration Address (optional). This address is used to send temporary passwords, if you forget your credentials. Accept the Terms of Use by checking the box Click Create Your Account Complete Your Profile After creating your user name and password, you ll be brought to a page where you can complete your profile. Next, you will select how you want to receive alerts. Options may include SMS text message, , cell phones, landlines, or a mobile application for Android and ios devices. The order you set these contact paths will be the order we will try and reach you in the event of an emergency. 1 of 2
10 WHITECAP NOTIFICATION SYSTEM SIGN-UP INSTRUCTIONS OPT-IN Enter Your Location We send alerts based on a geographical location on a map. IF YOU LIVE ON-RESERVE: You must provide a complete address so that we can customize notices by area in the Community. Important: If the address you provided is not in our database of known addresses for the Whitecap Community, you will be presented with other options to add your address into this system, including: selection from a list of suggested addresses, or dropping a pin to select your location on the map (Microsoft Silverlight plug-in is required). PLEASE USE THE SATELLITE MAP TO GET YOUR EXACT LOCATION. IF YOU LIVE OFF-RESERVE: choose to SKIP the Location information page. Sign Up for Alerts You Care About You ll be presented with various alert subscriptions to sign up for. These could be important community alerts, weather notifications, etc. Enter Additional Information Answer the required questions that are applicable to you. Congratulations! Once you have finished and saved your account, you have successfully signed up. 12 WHITECAP NOTIFICATION SYSTEM What to expect.. Our first test message will be sent out on Tuesday, May 1 st, 2018 to those who have signed up. Thereafter, we will use this tool to contact you for real-time notifications and periodic test messages. The system default sequence for notification delivery methods are: Text Cell Call Work Desk Phone Call Home Phone Call and Mobile Push notification via the Everbridge App. Each message will have a confirmation component. The system will try to reach you through your contact information provided; if no reply, then will continue to the next method listed until you confirm receipt of the message. The interval between delivery methods is 1 minute. When received, please follow the instructions to confirm receipt of the message. How Do I Respond? SMS/TEXT TELEPHONE/VOICE PUSH NOTIFICATION - You will receive a text message on your mobile phone. - Read the entire message then select reply from your device. - Reply with Yes and send to confirm receipt of the message. - - The will be sent from: Whitecap Notification System. - Read the entire message and confirm your receipt of the message. - Click the link provided within the to confirm receipt of the message. - You must press 1 after the system greeting to hear the message. - The main content of the communications will follow. - To confirm receipt of the message, Press 1 a final time. - You will receive a push notification on your mobile phone. - Open the message to discover what type of feedback you need to provide. - Respond using polling, geo-location information, pictures and/or free-form text.
