SRT s 2013 Annual Membership Meeting June 20, ND State Fair Center By action of the board of directors, the 2013 annual membership meeting of SRT Communications, Inc. will be on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the North Dakota State Fair Center 2005 Burdick Expy. East Minot, ND. SRT ANNUAL MEETING TO BE HELD AT NORTH DAKOTA STATE FAIR CENTER Gwen Sebastian, former contestant on NBC hit show The Voice, to perform Registration will begin at 4:30 PM. A complimentary supper will be served between 5:00 7:00 PM to registered members and guests. The business meeting will be called to order at 7:15 PM. Regular business includes the election of four directors, one from each of our four districts, for a three-year term. The candidates who have been nominated are listed below. SRT will hold its Annual Meeting on Thursday, June 20th, The highlight of the evening will be a free live concert from Gwen Sebastian, a contestant from season 2 of The Voice, and a North Dakota native. Gwen Sebastian was voted #6 Most Beautiful Woman in Country Music (Country Weekly, 11/26/12) and has had national TV appearances on The Voice, GAC s Headline Country, E! News, and CMT Insider. Her forthcoming album, Gwen Sebastian, will be released on June 4, This year s Annual Meeting theme is Dare to Compare. The evening promises to be a special event for SRT s members. Prize drawings will Gwen Sebastian Live 6PM be held following the meeting. This is the biggest event of the year for SRT, and it s also a big event for the community, said SRT General Manager & CEO Steve Lysne. This meeting allows us to say thank you to our members for their patronage. To add a talent like Gwen Sebastian, a nationally-recognized star, is an additional enhancement we re thrilled about. We re looking forward to seeing you there!

2 Awards$ 1,000 SRT Scholarship Four High School Seniors Each Shelby Wunderlich Ahnna Peterson Lindsey Mogard Ashley Backes SRT is proud once again to award four $1,000 college scholarships to outstanding area students. Nearly 60 applicants from across SRT s territory were judged on their volunteerism and community involvement, scholastic performance, and an essay on the topic: You can have a 10-minute phone call with anyone in the history of the world, living or dead. Who do you call, what do you say/ask, and what do you hope to hear? In addition, students submitted a description of their community and school activities and transcripts. This year s applicants showed a high level of academic achievement, commitment to their communities, and creativity in their essays. said Steve Lysne, CEO/General Manager of SRT. We applaud these area youth as great examples for other high school students, and for everyone in our area. The 2013 SRT Scholarship recipients are: Ashley Backes of Minot High School Lindsey Mogard of Surrey High School Ahnna Peterson of Velva High School Shelby Wunderlich of Velva High School Additionally, one exceptional student from SRT s service area was selected to travel on the Foundation for Rural Service s (FRS) Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. The FRS Youth Tour brings together high school students from across rural America to visit our nation s capital and learn about rural telecommunications, and each NTCA member company may sponsor a student from their local area. SRT s 2013 FRS Youth Tour award recipient is Cassidy Peterson of Velva High School. The Scholarship recipients and FRS Student were honored at a special luncheon with the SRT Board of Directors and Executive Staff on April 25. Recipients shared their plans for the future and each received a certificate honoring them for their achievements. Tim Burckhard, SRT Director of Field Operations, was recently inducted into the Softball Hall of Fame by the North Dakota Amateur Softball Association. Induction ceremonies took place on April 20th at the Gladstone Inn in Jamestown. Burckhard has been an active slow pitch softball player in Minot for almost 30 years and has a.600 lifetime batting average. The Softball News describes him as a great competitor with lots of power in his bat [who] could deliver key hits when needed. Tim has played with several state-title winning teams, and has over 1,200 home runs over the span of his career. Once, Burckhard even hit three home runs in the first inning of a game while playing with Toads of Minot! SRT is proud to recognize Burckhard s impressive accomplishments on the softball field, and we congratulate him on his new Hall of Famer status! Stay Connected! 4 Bachmeier Retiring Congratulations to Bob Bachmeier on his retirement after 17 years at SRT! Bob began his work as a TV Technician, and in 1998 became an Outside Plant Installer. We wish Bob the best as he enjoys fishing, travel, time with his wife Paula and his grandchildren, and all retirement has to offer! We gave E-bill a makeover!
