The Rider committee, consisting of 16 faculty members appointed by President Mord-A- Kai Ro-zan-ski, has narrowed the search down to four finalists after starting with over 100 applicants back in April. The four finalists are Doctor David Do-wal-der, Doctor David Stern, Doctor Robert Present, and Doctor Donna Jean Fred-en. President Ro-zan-ski and the committee will be making a final decision soon. DANIELLE: The Rider community is not afraid to show off their school pride. The Rider Student Government association started a new school spirit campaign called Our House, to enhance school pride and help students feel more connected with the university. Students will receive a variety of pins throughout the month of November that represent the many forms of student life. These pins will be given to athletes, commuters, transfer students, and more. Student Government President, Lorelei Colbert, is promoting this new campaign with the hopes to rid Rider s previous reputation of being a Suitcase school. DAVID: As the semester winds down, students are changing their focus from schoolwork to job opportunities.

2 Reporter Aimee Simone is at this year s fall career fair to see how students are trying to land that first job. CUT TO AIMEE ON CAMERA OUTSIDE BART LUDEKE CENTER, AIMEE SIMONE LOWER THIRD AIMEE: Over 70 employers are here at the Bart Lou-de-kee Center for this year s Fall Career Fair. And crowds of Rider students are ready to meet them. AIMEE: Students then got nametags and filled out some paperwork before heading into the fair. AIMEE: Upperclassmen like senior Jessica Cas-tra-no-vo were well prepared to get the most out of the opportunity. I, I prepared some questions in my head, printed out my re-soo-may-s, um, got some of my documents together, um, show that I have experience. AIMEE: Students gave out re-soo-may-s and made important contacts, searching for internships, co ops, and full time positions.

DANIELLE: The one thing Hurricane Sandy failed to take away was the desire of prospective college students to attend Rider University. After major schedule changes following the storm, Rider hosted its Fall Open house this past weekend, and already the university is receiving positive vibes from these incoming freshman and transfer students. Our reporter on the field Dan Marley has the story. DAN: Thanks, Danielle. I m outside the Cavalla Room of the Bart Lou-de-kee Center where there are hundreds, maybe even thousands of prospective Rider students checking out Rider University and all it has to offer in this year s Fall Open House. And already, students and staff are enjoying the turnout. CUT TO B-ROLL, OF BART LUDEKE CENTER CUT TO B-ROLL, OF FALL OPEN HOUSE CUT TO B-ROLL, WIDE OF FALL OPEN HOUSE DAN: The Fall Open House is a once a year event on the Rider Campus that introduces incoming freshman and transfer students to the Rider lifestyle. Future Rider attendees and their families use this day as an opportunity to tour the campus, meet and greet with students and staff, and learn more about the academics and student life Rider has to offer.

It s getting me real excited to explore more about this place. DAN: Rider faculty use the Fall Open House to ensure that their children will have the perfect college experience. ROBERT: These open houses are extremely helpful in terms of showing that Rider is the kind of place where you are going to be able to talk to faculty and feel comfortable in their office, talking about a variety of different topics. DAN: For these students, college may seem like light years away. But the desire to attend Rider University in the near future will help them as they continue their academic endeavors at their current institutions. With the Rider News, I m Dan Marley. DAVID: A disciplined and talented team is bringing a strong start to a new season. The Rider University Men s Basketball team is so far off to a good start this season with a four win, three loss record under new head coach Kevin Baggett. Key victories against Robert Morris, Monmouth University, Jacksonville University, and the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee are helping the team stay above five hundred. Some players that standout this season are Nur-a-deen Lindsey, Anthony Myles, and Jonathan Thompson, who are all averaging over ten points per game.

He is known around campus for his size, demeanor, and the red spot circling his left eye. He is, the Egyptian goose. Egyptian geese travel thousands of miles to land on Rider s campus. Some stay while others use the campus grounds to rest before they go back on their journeys. Biology Professor Dr. Laura Hyatt says that these geese are not native to North America but are becoming increasingly prevalent.
