3 VDISoft.Analytics.HMI Quick Start Guide This tutorial will walk you through creating a simple Indusoft Webstudio project with VDIHMI tools. Step 1 Create an Indusoft Webstudio Windows Project The first step is to create a new Web Studio project. From the Web Studio new project dialog enter or select the options so your screen looks like this: When the Project Wizard dialog appears make the following selection: 2

4 Step 2 Create a new screen inside your project. This screen will be a background screen that will always be present. We make this screen a background screen because it will be responsible for logging the data. 3

5 Step 3 Add a VDILogger control to the background screen. First, we click on the.net Control icon in the menu bar as shown here: Locate the VDISoft.Analytics.HMI DLL and select it via the.net Framework Components dialog as shown here: 4

6 Select the HMILogger component and then click OK. 5

7 You should now have a logger control on your background screen as shown here: Step 4 Configure the Logger. Right-click on the logger and select the Properties option to display this dialog: Click on the Property Pages button to open the properties dialog and set the following properties as shown in the table below: Property Description Setting WriteToFile Tells the component to write True each value to a file so that it can be analyzed and displayed by other components in the VDISoft HMI toolkit. ProcessName A name for the quality MySample characteristic or process you want to view/analyze data for. DataFolder The location on your hard disk where you want to store the C:\temp (or some other folder of your choice) 6

8 LoggerMode data. Indicates whether you want to log data when the value changes or based on a trigger. 1 (this indicates you will log when a value changes) Close the Property Pages dialog by clicking on the Close button: Step 5 Assign Tag Now click the Members button in the Object Properties dialog to display the Members dialog as shown here: 7

9 Locate the TagValue property and click on the Tag Expression ellipsis: When the Object Finder dialog appears select the Analog Tag from the system tags as shown here: 8

10 Click the OK button to close the dialog. Close the other two dialogs as well. Step 5 Save your project Save your screen as shown below and save your project. 9

11 Step 6 Run your project When you run your project you should see the values update in the logger control as shown here: Notes and Comments If you navigate to the folder that you specified in the DataFolder path, you should see a new file there now called MySample.vdi as shown here: 10

12 If you click on the More link on the logger component you will see this dialog: You can click on the various tabs to discover what information is available in this dialog. Changing to Control Chart View You can switch the view to a control chart instead of a simple tag display. Here s how: First, right-click on the logger control and then select Properties. From the Properties dialog click the Property Pages button. Locate the ViewType Property and change it from a 0 to a 1. Note: You may need to resize the control once it changes to an Individuals Chart as shown here: 11
