1 Using the Brightlink Interactive Projector Training Session Guide Instructional Media/AV Services publication: 0//0 Introduction The Interactive Projector is used to project the classroom computer, and as an interactive whiteboard. This document explains the operation of the Interactive Projector and introduces its associated software. Turning on the Projector Turn on the projector either by using the EPSON remote control or via Projector Patrol program on the classroom computer. Open the Easy Interactive Tools Software The Brightlink software is called Easy Interactive tools. Some classrooms may have a desktop icon, but the program can always be found in the program menu in the EPSON Projector folder. Desktop icon Program menu The Easy Interactive Tools Menu The Brightlink Pen Once the software opens, the Interactive Tools menu will appear on the desktop. The menu floats above windows for easy access. The menu can be minimized (). Once minimized, the menu can be brought back by clicking the icon in the windows taskbar()..pen Tip Switch Works as mouse left button..battery Indicator Press button to check. 2 Using the Brightlink Projector Step by Step USING THE BRIGHTLINK INTERACTIVE PROJECTOR-DH This document will walk through a step by step training of the basic functions of the Brightlink Interactive Projector Mouse and Pen Modes The pen for the Brightlink projector has two modes: A mouse mode to manipulate objects on the screen, and a pen mode for drawing, writing, and annotation of screen images. The Mouse and Pen buttons toggle back and forth as they are clicked Make sure the mouse button () shows on the tool menu.. Try moving items on the desktop.. Open a program by double clicking with the pen.. Use the button on the pen to open a right click menu. Click on the mouse button () and toggle to the pen image ().. Draw/Annotate on the desktop.. Draw/Annotate on an open program window. Toggle back and forth between pen and mouse modes to get familiar with how this works. NOTE: Annotations made in pen mode are hidden when in mouse mode, but will reappear once back in pen mode. Annotating a Webpage and Saving the Image Annotation on webpages is easy with the Brightlink, and it s also easy to save these annotations as image files.. Bring up a webpage using the mouse mode ().. Toggle to the pen mode ().. Draw or annotate the web page. 4. To save, click on the save screen icon (). 5. Save on the desktop, WDrive, or a Thumb Drive.

3 USING THE BRIGHTLINK INTERACTIVE PROJECTOR-DH Annotating in PowerPoint and Saving the Images PowerPoint presentations can also be annotated. The Brightlink tool menu will float above all documents (including PowerPoint in show mode) allowing for easy annotation and saving of images. Annotating PowerPoint::. Use the mouse mode () to open a presentation.. Toggle to pen mode () and annotate the slide.. To save the image, click on the Save Screen button (). This image was taken from a word document. Remember these steps:. Open documents in Mouse mode.. Annotate in Pen mode.. Save your image.

4 Detail: Choosing Line Width and Color The color and width of lines the pen makes can be adjusted which can help to make words more readable and shapes easier to see. USING THE BRIGHTLINK INTERACTIVE PROJECTOR-DH Press the color/size button () to open the menu. Select colors from the palette squares and select the width from the section just above the palette (). Close the color/width menu by clicking the box (). Whiteboard Mode The Easy Interactive software allows the screen to be used like a traditional whiteboard with the added ability to save whatever is written or drawn with the Brightlink pen. Drawings made in class that highlight elements from the lecture can be captured, and ideas that take place during discussions in class can be notated, captured, and all can be hosted in Canvas for student review. Activating and Using the Whiteboard. Activate the Whiteboard by clicking the whiteboard button (). This creates a full-screen whiteboard space and changes the menu for whiteboard use ().. Draw on the whiteboard.. Add a new page by clicking on the new page button (). As new pages are added, the previous pages are saved. 4. Once done, save all the images created in the whiteboard by pressing the save button (4). Although the software saves pages as you make new ones, the session needs to be saved before you quit or you will lose it. 4

5 USING THE BRIGHTLINK INTERACTIVE PROJECTOR-DH Detail: Whiteboard Navigation. The tool menu () can be moved anywhere on the screen.. Text and drawings are made on the main whiteboard space ().. Thumbnails of pages in the whiteboard session can be shown by pressing the display thumbnail button (). 4. Click on the thumbnail images (4) to navigate between the pages Images can be brought in to the whiteboard as a background by clicking the background image button (). Remember: Save your whiteboard images by pressing the Save button ().

6 USING THE BRIGHTLINK INTERACTIVE PROJECTOR-DH Posting Annotations and Images in Canvas Once images have been created in either the whiteboard mode or by annotation, and the files are saved, the images can be loaded into canvas to allow students to review. Inserting Brightlink Images in Canvas:. In Canvas: Go to the page where you want to place the image.. Click on Edit the page.. Choose the IMAGES tab (). 4. Click the UPLOAD A NEW IMAGE link (). 5. Click the Choose File button (). 6. Browse to find an image, select, and click OPEN. 7. Click UPLOAD (4). 8. The image will appear on your page. 9. REMEMBER: to save changes in Canvas 4 Brightlink images work well in Canvas Reminder: To make sure you can resize images once in Canvas, we recommend using Firefox browser.
