1 Software Release Notes Version January 2019 A. Software Description KellyDown is a well-planning and survey monitoring application designed specifically for use by well-planners and/or directional drilling coordinators at the rig-site or in the drilling office. It comprises an advanced multi-well relational database, sophisticated well-planning and survey data entry interfaces with smart data import and export modules, intuitive correction run and project-ahead modules, a comprehensive anti-collision module and full reporting capability. Its main advantage over similar products is its comprehensive list of features coupled with its userfriendly interface. In the well-planning office, it is used to import or create multi-structure projects, configure multiwell slot templates, design simple and complex well plans, define casing programs, survey tool programs etc. and test for collision avoidance. During the drilling stage, it is used by the directional drilling coordinator to achieve the optimum well path to one or more targets while also testing for proximity against adjacent wells in the drilling project and produce customised and professional looking reports right at the rig site. KellyDown has been tested on Windows XP (SP3), Windows Vista and Windows 7 (32 bit and 64 bit), Windows 8 (32 bit and 64 bit) and Windows 10. B. System Requirements To use KellyDown, you need: The Microsoft Windows XP (SP3) through Windows 10 operating system. An Intel or Intel-compatible processor. At least 3 GBytes of installed memory (4+ GBytes recommended). At least 200 MBytes of free disk space (for complete installation) C. Installing KellyDown Click here to go to the KellyDown website. Download the KellyDown Setup file and Help Documents from the KellyDown website to the Downloads folder on your computer. To do this, simply click on the two red Download buttons. By default the files will be downloaded to your Downloads folder. After the download has completed, click on the Open Folder button to go to the Downloads folder. Page 1 of 17

2 Open the KellyDown_Setup_ zip file, right click on the Setup.exe file and select Copy from the popup menu. Then return to the Downloads folder, right click anywhere in the folder and select Paste from the popup menu to copy Setup.exe to the Downloads folder. Next double click on Setup.exe file to launch the KellyDown Setup routine. If Windows asks if you want to allow the program to continue and/or to make changes to your hard drive, click Yes or Run this program anyway. Page 2 of 17

3 Follow the instructions shown in the KellyDown Setup. When asked to select an Install Type, decide whether you want to install the Example Database or not. If this is the first time that KellyDown has been installed on your computer, you should select the Complete option, which will install KellyDown and the KellyDown Example Database onto your computer. If KellyDown was already installed on your computer, select the default Upgrade option. This will install the new version of KellyDown without overwriting you existing KellyDown database. 4 KellyDown Setup will ask where you want to install the software. It is recommended that you install the software in the default location. Next, KellyDown Setup will ask where the shortcut icons are to be installed. If you prefer to install the shortcut icons into a different location, select it from the drop-down list. KellyDown Setup will install icons for the software, the User Manual, the QuickStart Guide and for the Uninstall routine. A shortcut for the software will also be installed on your desktop. Delete it afterwards if you do not want it on your desktop. Page 4 of 17

5 When KellyDown Setup has enough information to install the software, you will be prompted for final confirmation before the software is installed. Click on the Next button to proceed with the installation. Wait while KellyDown Setup installs the software onto your computer. Page 5 of 17

6 After the software has been installed, a message will tell you how to start the KellyDown application. Click on the Finish button to close KellyDown Setup. If you have any problems installing KellyDown, please contact KellyDown Support at the following address: agilis@shaw.ca Page 6 of 17

7 D. Starting KellyDown To start KellyDown, double click on the KellyDown shortcut icon on your desktop or select All Programs, Agilis Applications, KellyDown from the Windows Start menu. When KellyDown loads for the first time, a message will inform you that you do not have a valid KellyDown license installed on your computer. KellyDown will continue to operate in limited evaluation mode even though you do not have a valid license. Limited evaluation mode allows you to perform all of the functions in the licensed version except save proposal data and/or survey data to the database. To unlock the software or to apply for a Fully Functioning Evaluation License, send an to KellyDown Support at agilis@shaw.ca (or to your local or company KellyDown support person), quoting the information displayed on the message. If an application (like Microsoft Outlook) is installed on your computer, click on the Yes button to launch the application with the Agilis address and license information filled in for you. Complete the rest of the information shown in the message... Page 7 of 17

8 If you have a web-based account (like Hotmail or Gmail or a web-based company account) answer No to the question and use the Ctrl-V key combination to paste the license information into a new message. Send the to agilis@shaw.ca or to your company s in-house KellyDown support person and Agilis Software Solutions (or your company s KellyDown support person) will send you a license within two (2) business days. You may continue to use KellyDown in evaluation mode until you receive the KellyDown license. When you receive the license, copy it to the folder shown in the message. If you need to be reminded of the folder location, simply run KellyDown again to display the message. KellyDown will then prompt you for a password for the Admin account in the Example Database. 9 Enter a password of at least six characters. Try to use a password that contains lower case and upper case characters, numbers and special characters, e.g. & or $. An indicator next to the password shows you how strong your password is. Red indicates a weak password and green indicates a strong password. Confirm the password and then enter a hint to remind you of the password in case you forget it at a later date. Use a password and hint combination that only you understand. Click on the Continue button to start using KellyDown. Important: If you are installing KellyDown on a computer running Windows 7 or later on which a previous version of KellyDown was installed, you may need to Reset the KellyDown Virtual System files. Virtual System Files are part of the Windows security system and prevent older files from being overwritten. However, this may prevent some important KellyDown system files from being updated to the new version. To allow these to be updated, we have added a function to KellyDown that deletes the old versions of the files; simply open the Administration, Utilities menu and click on Reset KellyDown Virtual System Files. Click on the Yes button to delete the files. When you run KellyDown for the first time with a valid license, depending on your company and regional location, KellyDown will be configured with the appropriate company branding and preferred options. If however, you wish to change these options, simply open Administration, System Settings and adjust the options to suit your requirements. Version released on 1st September 2017 Fixed bug in Daily Drilling Reports module where first record wasn t always included in the report when the Daily Report Time wasn t midnight. Increased the field size in the Pipe Tally to allow users more room to hand enter values. Added option under Tools, Options, Report Options to allow user to select whether to include the fishing neck dimensions or the pipe weight values in the Drillstring section of Drilling Reports. Added ability for customers to define their own authorised version for downloading from the KellyDown website when using the Check for Upgrade function. Added ability to export summary drilling/motor data to an Excel KPI file that is subsequently opened in Microsoft Excel. The function may be called from popup menus at either the well level or the Profile level. When called via the Profile menu, it will export the details for the current run to the Excel file. If called via the Well menu, it will export details for all runs under the current well to the Excel file 5. Added new option under Tools, Options, Report Options to show all drill runs in EOW reports and drilling progress reports. If this option is checked, KellyDown will include all the drill runs in the EOW report, including those that were subsequently sidetracked by other drill runs. If this option is not checked, the EOW report will include only those drill runs back up the parent profiles while there is slidesheet data. Checking this option requires that all Drill Runs have sequential Profile IDs, i.e. if there are more than 9 runs, use Run #01, Run #02, Run #03 Run #09, Run #10 etc. Since one or more runs may have been sidetracked, the Activity Breakdown, Drilling Records and Slidesheet sections of the report will show the original survey data but the Survey Data section will show the definitive survey data 5. Fixed bug in Survey Editor where unlocking the survey data from within the survey editor didn t enable editing until you closed and reopened the form. Fixed bug where user could edit individual slide records even when the structure or profile was locked by double clicking on the row in the slidesheet editor. Added option in Pipe Tally module to enter and print driller s comments for each pipe tally record. Added Pipe Tally button to the Slidesheet toolbar 5. Changed the % Rotating and % Slide values in Drilling Reports so they are based on footage values instead of hours values 5. Added menus to view multi-well plots from within the Survey Editor and Slidesheet Editor. Disabled the Edit Slidesheet menus for Magnetic Ranging surveys. Added Bit Record information to the BHA Proposal report 5. Added function to Drill Records module whereby the Motor Speed is now calculated from the Motor Rev. Rate, the Flow Rate and the Rotary Speed 5. Modified New Survey module whereby the casing program, survey program, and formation tops are now automatically transferred from the associated proposal. Modified New Survey module whereby the ID and Name are sequenced from the parent profile if a new survey is tied on to a parent survey. Modified the New Survey module whereby the Offset Well is transferred from the parent profile if a new survey is tied on to a parent survey. Modified Slidesheet Editor whereby you can now set the Start Time of the first activity from within the Slidesheet Editor if the slidesheet isn t tied on to another slidesheet. Previously, you had to do this by editing the tie-on coordinates. Other minor enhancements. Version released on 6th October 2017 Fixed bug in the Drilling Reports where Below Rotary Hours weren t calculated correctly where there is more than one Tripping Out activity. Fixed other minor bugs in Drilling Reports module. Added buttons to Edit Units module whereby custom Units Systems may now be exported and imported. Modified Job Details module whereby KellyDown now checks that personnel are not selected twice on the same job at the same time. Added function to Slidesheet module that updates legacy slidesheets (before drilling activities were introduced) so each record is defined as a Drilling activity with a Survey. Added function to Slidesheet module under Tools menu to convert a Drilling configured slidesheet to a Slide/Rotate configuration. Added ability whereby any diameter value may be entered as inches regardless of the current diameter units setting if the user appends the character. Version released on 17th November 2017 Fixed bug in New Survey and New Proposal modules where a new profile wasn t created if the new profile was tied on to an existing profile and the user didn t tab off the Profile ID field before clicking on the OK button. Fixed bug where bit depths weren t correctly listed in the slidesheet section of drilling reports where a run was tied on to an earlier sidetracked run. Fixed bug where KellyDown repeatedly displayed an error message when trying to process an IPM file containing the warn line. It now displays a warning message only once showing the actual warning message read from the file. Fixed intermittent bug in Invoice Report module that caused an error if the invoice report was printed before a drilling report has been printed. Page 11 of 17

12 Fixed bugs in Interpolation module that caused an error when the customer option to show sub-sea depths as negative values was set and the user entered a sub-sea depth as the interpolation value. Also fixed bug where KellyDown crashed when user entered a sub-sea depth on the very first line of the Interpolation screen. Fixed bug in Compass Transfer File import module where an error was thrown if the wellbore name in the transfer file contained more than fifty characters. Added labels showing Measured Depth, Inclination and Azimuth values of cursor to the KellyDown Visualiser when the user clicks on a proposal or survey entity. Modified Slidesheet module whereby creating a slidesheet from existing survey data now handles SAGD tieon surveys. SAGD tie-on surveys are converted to Drilling Records with no survey data followed by a Tie-on Ranging Survey containing the SAGD Survey Data. Modified Drilling Reports whereby the Connection (drilling) activity is no longer included in Circulating Hours. Modified Ouija Board, Correction Run and Build/Drop/Turn modules as follows:- o Added an extra third extrapolation row. o Added Measured Depth column that allows the user to enter fixed measured depth values for the extrapolation beyond the Bit Projection. If the Measured Depth is entered for any of the Extrapolation rows, the measured depth, inclination and azimuth values will persist as new surveys are added to the underlying survey data. If the Course Length is entered, the course length. Dogleg rate and toolface values will persist as new survey records are added. If the course length is entered, the measured depth is shown in grey and vice-versa. o Bit Projection and Extrapolation parameters are persisted even when exiting the program, unless the user switches to a different well. o Added new Highside Direction column to Target Plane line in Ouija Board module. o Added option under Tools, Options to show the X and Y Offsets from the target on the Target Plane line instead of the Distance and Highside Direction. o Added option under Tools, Options which if checked will prevent the Ouija Board, Correction Run and Build/Drop/Turn modules from being updated with new calculated Slide Ahead, Motor Output and Toolface values when called from the slidesheet module. Added option to include target dimensions in profile reports. Added utility under Administration, Utilities to import all the projects in the Company Folder of a Compass Transfer file into a single folder in KellyDown 5. Modified profile reports so they may now be printed even if no actual profile data exists. This allows the creation of proposal and survey reports containing the north reference page and target information etc. even when there is no survey data. Version released on 3rd January 2018 Fixed bug in Drillstring Editor where the Paste function caused errors if any of the text being pasted contained a comma or a single quote. Fixed bug in Drillstring Editor where a drillstring created in an engineering module wasn t displayed in the slidesheet module if the drill run drillstring was deleted. Fixed bug in anti-collision module where the absolute ellipsoid separation was too small when one or both of the ellipsoids were interpolated between an ellipsoid with zero inclination followed by an ellipsoid with nonzero inclination (i.e. at a proposal s kick-off depth). Fixed bug in Survey Editor and Slidesheet Editor where the option to use minimum distance to calculate the X and Y Offsets to the Offset Well wasn t recognised. Fixed bug in Compass Transfer File import module where vertical targets were sometimes shown at 90 instead of 0. Fixed bug in Slidesheet module where a new slidesheet wasn t always created under certain circumstances. Fixed bug in QuickScan module where Scan Depth on Single Point scan wasn t always set to the bottom most integer survey depth when using non-metric units. Fixed bug in Drilling Reports where Magnetic Toolface Orient was sometimes shown as a regular toolface in the Slidesheet section. Added routine that automatically checks if the virtual KellyDown system files are older than the actual KellyDown system files and updates them if necessary. Page 12 of 17

13 Reduced spacing slightly between lines in Ouija Board and Correction Run modules so the screens fit inside the KellyDown main screen when run on 1280 x 720 monitor. Added new Drillstring report called Drillstring Report for Greymouth Petroleum. Modified the Formation Tops Editor whereby the Edit, Paste function will now paste any data into the editor that follows the following criteria. All columns are separated by a tab, the first three numerical columns contain sub-sea depth, dip angle and dip direction and the first three text columns contain formation name, lithology and notes. The numerical columns do not need to be before the text columns and not all columns need to be present. If there is one numerical column and one text column in any order, it will be imported as sub-sea depth and formation name. Version released on 16th January 2018 Added option to show Formation Tops in KellyDown Visualiser. Added two optional columns to the Survey Editor and Slidesheet Editor that show the distance to the closest formation top above and below each survey station 5. Added footer comment to end of survey reports showing the distance to the closest formation above and below the last survey record, if the user choses to show formation tops in the report. Version released on 12th February 2018 Fixed bug in Formation Tops Editor where option to show negative sub-sea depths wasn t properly applied. Fixed bug in Correction Run and Ouija Board modules where KellyDown froze when the option to Calculate Bit Projection using Average Motor Output was checked and the Average Motor Output was infinitely small. Fixed bug in QuickScan module where module didn t load if no offset wells were selected in the Database Explorer which meant the user wasn t able to compare the survey data against the associated proposal either. Fixed bug in Export to Google Earth routine where profile colours weren t being properly translated from KellyDown colours to Google Earth colours. Fixed bug in Drill Records module where Jets and TFA weren t being saved after using the TFA Calculator to update the values. Modified Formation Tops Editor whereby inclined formation tops are now back-calculated from the sub-sea depth below the well location so that modifying the dip inclination or dip direction will calculate the survey depth from the sub-sea depth instead of the other way round. To enter an inclined formation top relative to the survey depth, enter the dip inclination and dip direction first and then enter the survey depth. Added two new columns named Driller s Dip Angle and Driller s Dip Direction to the Formation Tops Editor. These allow a driller to enter dip angle and dip direction using the same logic as entering the hole inclination and direction. Modified Export to Google Earth routine whereby the planned depth etc. is shown in Google Earth if only proposal data exists under a well. Version released on 23rd March 2018 Fixed bug in Database Import module where polygon target vertices weren t imported when importing a structure. Fixed bug in Drilling Records where Motor Output wasn t calculated for SAGD tie-on stations. Fixed bug in plotting modules where target thickness was not shown on plots. Fixed bug in Database Import module where a survey wasn t tied on to its parent if the tie-on depth of the child was the same as the tie-on depth of the parent and the ID of the child was alphabetically before the ID of the parent. Fixed bug in Edit Tie-on module where checking or un-checking the Allow Orphan checkbox didn t effect a change unless you also edited one of the numbers. Added new Survey Export format named SDI Slidesheet Export to Excel (for Saudi Aramco). Added new Customer option named Show Signature Box at end of Drilling Reports. Added new option to Invoice Report Options named Include ID Column, which if checked will include the invoice item ID before the invoice item description for instances where price list items are derived from a company based invoice coding system. Modified Slidesheet Editor whereby the user is now unable to save the slidesheet if any of the activity times are out of sequence, in which case a warning message is displayed. Page 13 of 17

14 Added ability to define a negative minimum currency value so that discount items may now be added to invoices. Added Pick Up Directional Tool, Tear Down Directional Tool, Shallow Test and Backreaming activities to the list of drilling activities. Version released on 1st June 2018 Fixed bug in Torque & Drag module where the friction factor entered in the casing Program Editor was being used to calculate the Torque & Drag if the last component in the Casing Program was Open Hole. Fixed bug in Drilling Records module where the Forward Projection screens were updated when the Drilling Records changed even when the option to not update them was checked. Fixed bug in Slidesheet Editor where user couldn t save a slidesheet if the times were out of sequence even when the date and time functions were not being utilised. Fixed bug in Drillstring Editor where the modified bit details weren t shown in the BHA Report unless the user saved the Drillstring before printing the report. Other minor bug fixes. Modified Create New Survey routine whereby the pumps associated with a parent survey are automatically associated with the new survey when the new survey is added below the parent survey in the Database Explorer. Added On-Bottom SPP column to Drilling Records section of Drilling Reports. Added option in Edit Hard Lines module whereby the user is able to create a Driller s Hard Line inside the existing hard line given the internal offset distance within the existing hard line. 6 Added option to show Distance and Direction to Closest Lease Line and Distance and Direction to the Closest Driller s Hard Line columns in the Survey Editor and Slidesheet Editor. 6 Added new text field named Bit Grade to Drill Records module which is then shown in Drilling Reports. Modified Drilling Records section in Drilling Reports whereby previously entered drilling parameters are shown in grey on each line of the report if any have been previously entered for the corresponding drilling mode (sliding or rotating). Actual parameters are shown in black where they have been entered. Added function whereby user may now create custom export formats containing any number of Slidesheet or Survey columns, which when defined will export the chosen columns to an.xls file and then optionally open the exported data in Microsoft Excel. The custom columns are defined under Administration, System Settings, User Lists, Custom Export Formats. Also added buttons to export and import custom formats. Custom export formats appear in the dropdown list in the File Export Options dialog. 6 Modified Profile Reports module whereby the Bit Projection, Extrapolation and Target Projection are optionally appended to profile reports if any of the Forward Projection Modules is open and the user checks the Append Bit/Target Projection checkbox in Survey Report Options. 6 Modified Proximity Scanning module whereby the Bit Projection, Extrapolation and Target Projection are optionally appended to the proximity reports if any of the Forward Projection Modules is open and the user checks the Append Bit/Target Projection checkbox in Proximity Options. If no forward projection modules are open, the routine uses the Slidesheet parameters to describe the forward projection if the Slidesheet Editor is open, otherwise it simply extrapolates the bottom survey forward by the Sensor to Bit Distance. 6 Added ability to call the Proximity Scanning module from any of the Forward Projection modules. 6 Added new optional column to Drillstring Editor called Cumulative Weight. Added new Drillstring Report called Drillstring Report (for engineering with cumulative weight). Modified Proposal Editor whereby the File Save Copy menu now also copies associated data, i.e. Comments, Formation Tops, Survey Program and Casing Program, Page 14 of 17

15 Version released on 4th July 2018 Fixed bug in anti-collision report where the last line of survey data was sometimes repeated at the start of the Bit Projection section of the report. Fixed bug in Torque & Drag module where KellyDown wasn t able to calculate friction factor from a user defined surface torque. The calculate friction factor routine now displays the valid range of surface tension or surface torque if it is unable to calculate the friction factor. Modified profile reports and anti-collision reports whereby the projection to the bit is not included in the report if the user has not selected a target with which to project to, i.e. if the user has selected [N/A] in the target drop-down list. Added option in Custom Export module whereby the user may optionally include all the survey/drilling records from surface and optionally include section headers in the Excel file. 6 Modified Plotting module whereby the Bit Projection, Extrapolation and Target Projection are optionally appended to the current profile plot if any of the Forward Projection Modules is open and the user checks the Append Bit/Target Projection checkbox in Survey Report Options. Modified Plot module whereby the Annotation Frequency is the reverse of what it was before, i.e. a higher Annotation Frequency results in more annotations. Added ability in Plot modules whereby clicking on any profile annotation will toggle the annotations for that individual profile on and off. Added Tools, Options menu to the Plot module so that users can modify the plot characteristics from within the plotting module. Improved the overall performance and logic of the Plot module. Modified Torque & Drag module whereby Trip Logs are no longer calculated immediately. Instead a button is displayed which when pressed, will cause the trip log to be calculated. This allows users to modify several values before causing a recalculation of the trip log, which may take some time. Added option in Torque & Drag module to export the Torque & Drag data and Trip Log data to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. Added option in Hardline Editor to reverse the order of the hardlines. Improved ability to transform grid coordinates between different datums and coordinate systems. Version released on 18th July 2018 Fixed bug in daily drilling report where the start depth time and start time weren t always shown on the first line in the report. Fixed bug in plot module where annotation frequency didn t change when the user changed the value in plot options. Fixed bug in plot module where the target centre dot wasn t drawn in the correct place. Version released on 10th October 2018 Fixed bug in slidesheet module where using the File, Save menu to save the slidesheet and then exiting the slidesheet without saving caused the Sensor to Bit Distance to revert to its original value if it had been modified during the current session. Fixed bug in drilling reports module where the Motor Parameters weren t calculated unless the Drilling Parameters were also included in the report. Fixed bug in Slidesheet editor where the sensor to bit distance wasn t persisted if the user opened and closed the Drill Records module and then exited the Slidesheet module. Fixed bug in Casing/Drillstring Components Editor where you couldn t save a component if you locked it because the Close button was also locked. Fixed bug in Drillstring Editor where selecting Casing as a drilling component caused an error. Drilling Casing is now considered as separate from regular casing components and must be entered as an Other Component. Fixed bug in Database Import routine where KellyDown crashed if the.kdex import file contained no data. Resolved issue where KellyDown licensing mechanism would sometimes fail because the Network ID used to create the license belonged to a device that could be disconnected from the computer. Fixed bug in Slidesheet Export module where the survey data was interpolated at the Bit Depth instead of at the Survey Depth for the Cathedral Syndicate Export format. Fixed bug on Tools, Options where the three Proximity options weren t being saved. Page 15 of 17

16 Fixed bug in plotting module where profile comments weren t shown on vertical plots where the inclination was zero degrees. Fixed bug in System Settings where the Import Survey Tools routine didn t work. Fixed bug where KellyDown closed down immediately after starting if the option to check for new versions when KellyDown starts was set and the computer wasn t able to connect to the internet. Fixed bug in Survey Print Options where the Bit to Sensor Distance wasn t persisted if the user changed the value. Fixed bug in EOW Report where the Date/Time In and Date/Time Out in the Motor Properties section of the report were showing the start and end times for the run instead of the Tripping In and Tripping Out times. Added function whereby user may now create custom report formats containing any number of Slidesheet or Survey columns, which when defined will be included in the list of report in the Proposal Editor, Survey Editor and Slidesheet Editor. The custom columns are defined under Administration, System Settings, User Lists, Custom Report Formats. The number of columns chosen to be included in the report affects the paper orientation and font sizes in the reports. Also added buttons to export and import custom report formats 6. Changed the priority of Proposals and Surveys in the Plotting module whereby Survey profiles are now drawn in front of Proposal profiles.
