Special layers are located at the top of the list. Currently there are four special layer types:

1 Select Screen on this screen you select the files/layers/objects you wish to display, control their display options, review their coordinate systems, manage your local files, optionally load/save your workspace & set the application and workspace preferences. Double tapping anywhere on the display brings up a layer selection screen where you can select files, folders and other layer types. Select and deselect a special layer, a file or a folder by single tapping on it. If you select a folder, GeoView Pro will display all of the compatible files within that folder. Selected items are highlighted. Special layers are located at the top of the list. Currently there are four special layer types: 1. GPS Location - uses the internal GPS (if available) to find the most accurate position possible and shows your current position overlaid on top of your other selections. If there is no GPS then the location information given will not be as accurate. 3. Geocaches - uses a web service to download and display Geocache locations 2. Apple Map or ArcGIS Map shows an Apple or ArcGIS map as your bottom layer 4. what3words position data - uses a web data service for position data based on what3words

2 The file layer types are: Raster Files, Gridded Data Files and Vector Files GeoView Pro will automatically recognize the types and place the files in the appropriate layer for you. There are currently four special folders on the main screen along with the special layer types mentioned above. Local Files - all files you have downloaded from Dropbox or icloud. Inbox - all files you imported via another application or using Air Drop. icloud Files - all files you have created and saved to icloud. Dropbox Files - all files in your Dropbox in the GeoView folder (Dropbox>Apps>GeoView). You can also import a file using a URL by tapping on the World Icon on the top Navigation Bar. To see the expansion of all special folders in one view click on the List Icon on the top Navigation Bar.

3 Single tap the Done button in the upper right corner when you have finished choosing your files and layers. This will return you to the Select screen where you can review the selection and set options and preferences. When you are satisfied with your selection & settings, single tap on Display to see your map. To expand a folder tap on the folder icon. Once expanded you can select individual files from that folder. Saving Your Workspace After selecting your files, customizing their display options, adjusting their palette intensity, and choosing appropriate pan & zoom levels you have done a fair bit of work to get your display settings just right. You can preserve all of those settings by saving all of the file selections, settings and customizations in a workspace file.

4 More Detail Selecting Layers Layering many graphics components over top of one another creates a map display. The application will automatically detect what type of file you are selecting and place the data in the appropriate layer. At display time, you may adjust the palette intensities to change the visibility of underneath layers. Add a layer by double tapping anywhere on the Select screen or tapping the + button on the bottom tool bar. Delete a layer by swiping the selection to reveal the delete option. Set options for the layer by tapping on the layer row. The options will change depending on the layer type. Reveal further information about the coordinate system of the selection by tapping the information button on the layer row. Nine layer types are currently available over-laid from bottom to top: 1.Web Mapping Service Layer (bottom) map data supplied by a Web Service (limited to 1 service) Currently Apple and ArcGIS Maps supported 2.Raster Graphics Layer raster map or other data (unlimited) 3.Gridded Data Layers - raster XYZ map or other data (limited to 4 files. If you want all of your gridded data to be treated as a single data object then tap supergrid on icon at the top of the layer section to treat all grids as a supergrid. 4.Shadow Layer - auto-generated interactive shadows to enhance the Z component of the Gridded Data (matches gridded data). 5.Vector Graphics Layer vector map or other data (unlimited) 6.Web Vector Graphics Service Layer - currently 2 Geocache service layers are supported. 7.Position Tracking Layer current position shown (limited to 1 position) and tracks if enabled. 8.Markup Layer drop & edit placemarks and draw routes (limited to 1 layer, unlimited placemarks and routes) 9.Web Data Service Layer - currently what3words position data available Handling Multiple Spatial Reference Systems (SRS) To help visualize the diverse nature of Spatial Reference Systems either embedded within or associated with graphics files, the application colour codes the layers after evaluating each file/object. Reasonable attempts are made to display all of the users choices however there are combinations of files that are beyond the processing power of the ipad or iphone to display. Raster and Gridded data SRSs are never converted for display. The Vector Layer, Web Vector Graphics Layer, Position Tracking Layer, and Markup Layer data are converted to the display SRS. Any files/objects that are excluded from display will be automatically switched off, coloured red and a warning pop-up message will be displayed. The file/object SRS information may come from any of 3 sources: Embedded geo-referencing data (or implied by the source) Accompanying World File
