Getting Started (ios) Last Updated: Nov 22, :14AM EST Before you start to import maps, add placemarks, and use map tools, you should first get acquainted with the basics. In this article, you can find information about two of the most used interfaces (Maps List and Map View) and how to view the Getting Started map. Getting Started Map The Getting Started map, which is by default available when the app is downloaded, provides information about several of the app's features and tools, as well as helps you learn to navigate the Map View. Pan around the map to read the various pointers and hints. If you delete the Getting Started map, you can import it again through the Settings tab. Maps List When the Avenza Maps app is opened, the default screen is known as the 'Maps List'. This displays any maps that you have downloaded or imported, the Import icon ('+'), Edit, as well as four tabs along the bottom. The four tabs are: Maps Layers Store Settings 5

Users using version will notice that the Maps List screen now also features an Account icon (allows users to log into their Map Store account from the Maps List), as well as an updated search bar. Map View and Toolbar When you select a map from the Maps List, the map opens displaying the Map View. The Map View consists of several components: Search Map Information GPS and Compass Add Placemark Coordinates Map Features Tools 6

Maps List (ios) Last Updated: Sep 20, :39AM EDT The Maps List provides a quick view and easy access to any maps that you have downloaded or imported onto your device. The map's title, publisher, distance and direction from your current location are displayed. In place of distance and direction, you may see "On map" displayed, which signifies that you are currently located within the extent/coverage of that map. Additionally, the list also indicates whether a map is part of a collection and if it was obtained from the Avenza Maps Store or imported from another source. You can add and manage maps from here. The Maps List is indicated by the tab on the lower right and can be accessed from the Layers, Map Store, and Settings tabs directly. 7

Layers (ios) Last Updated: Oct 12, :13AM EDT Layers can contain map features: placemarks, lines, tracks, areas, photos, and schema. All map features stored in the database are listed in the Layers tab. Map features can be managed here, including adding, deleting, and editing map feature information (Features cannot be exported from the Layers tab - see Exporting Map Features for more information). The Layers tab also displays the map that features are linked to (see Importing Map Features for more information about linking map features). Alternatively, linked layer's map features can also be managed (including imported and exported) from within the Map View (see Managing Map Features for more information) 8

Map View (ios) Last Updated: Sep 22, :12PM EDT To begin viewing a map, simply tap a map in the Map List to open it. 16 Managing Maps and Folders (ios) Last Updated: Sep 20, :47AM EDT From the Maps List, you can add and remove maps, Folders, and Collections. As well, you can move maps between Folders and Collections as desired. All of this is done through the 'Edit' button. On the Map List screen, tap Edit. The toolbar along the top will change slightly to reveal several contextual options used to manage maps and folders as well as allow you to select maps and folders. These options are: New Folder/Collection - Tap this to create a new Folder or Collection Move to Folder/Collection - Tap the 'Move' icon to move selected maps to another folder Delete - Select maps, folders or collections, then tap the 'Delete' icon to remove them Map information ('i' icon next to each map) - Select maps, folders or collections, then tap the Information icon ('i') to see details such as Title, Date Imported, as well as metadata for the map itself 15

Adding a Folder/Collection A Folder allows you to group certain maps together based on your individual needs. There are no automated sorting abilities, so the control remains in the user's hands. A Collection is similar to a Folder in that you can group certain maps together as you choose, however, the key difference is that a Collection will allow you to automatically shift from one map to another while in the Map View based on your location. To create a new Folder or Collection, tap the Edit icon followed by the 'New Folder' icon. From there you will have the option to select whether to create a Folder or a Collection, as well as to name it as desired. 16

Moving Maps To move maps to a Folder or a Collection, tap Edit and select the desired maps to move (they will receive a checkmark on the thumbnail image). Once you have your maps selected, tap the 'Move' icon. This will then display a list of available folders, including the Root Folder. Select the desired folder and the maps will be moved. Deleting Maps or Folders (Edit Mode) To delete multiple maps or folders, tap Edit and select the maps/folders you wish to delete. Once selected, tap the 'Delete' icon to delete the selected maps or folders. Tap 'Done' to exit the editing mode. Deleting Maps or Folders (Non-Edit Mode) To delete a map or folder while not in Edit mode, swipe left on the desired map or folder, and tap Delete. You will be prompted to confirm the request. Once confirmed the map will be removed from the Maps List. 17

Map Collections (ios) Last Updated: Sep 20, :50AM EDT A Map Collection is a special folder that contains a set of maps and treats them as a larger collective. This allows you to pan to adjacent maps within the collection without having to reload another map. Map Collections work best when maps are geographically adjacent to each other, although maps can overlap and be of different extent and size. To create a Collection: 1. View the Maps List 2. Tap Edit 3. Tap the 'Add Folder' icon 4. Tap Collection To change a folder to a Collection: 1. Tap the Maps tab. 2. Tap the Information icon of a folder. 3. Tap the Collection setting to enable it. Moving maps to a Collection: 1. Tap the Maps tab 2. Tap Edit 3. Select the map(s) you want to move 4. Tap the 'Move' icon 5. Select the desired folder location 18

Viewing a map in a Map Collection An inset map in the top-left corner shows the extent of all the maps in a Map Collection. On the inset map, a darker gray and a + represents the crosshair and the relative position on the current map. The blue dot represents your GPS location (if applicable). To go to an adjacent map, pan to the edge of the map and continue to pan in the direction of the adjacent map - the adjacent map will automatically load in the map view. To jump to any map in the collection, tap a map footprint on the inset map. The vertical column to the right of the inset indicates map scale relative to the other maps in the collection. To enlarge the inset map, swipe it to the right. To reduce the inset map, swipe it to the left. To hide the inset map, swipe it left until only a tab with arrow shows. To show the inset map, tap the inset map tab or swipe right. When maps share the similar extent but are of two different map scales, you can pinch to zoom to the larger or smaller scale map by zooming in or out and holding when you reach the maximum or minimum zoom level. 19

Searching a Map (ios) Last Updated: Sep 20, :51AM EDT On any map, you can search for existing placemarks, lines or tracks. Tap the search icon (magnifying glass), and enter a term into the search box and a list of results will appear below it. This search function can use either the existing features on the map or Open Street Map to find what you are looking for (e.g. coffee shops). You can also use this search function from the Maps List to look for a specific map in your Maps List. If no matches are returned or if you're searching for other points of interest, you can search OpenStreetMap. 20

Map Information (ios) Last Updated: Sep 20, :30AM EDT Map Information ('i' icon) includes things such as: title, detailed description of the map, and under 'Advanced Options', the map's projection details. You can access the Map Information from two separate locations: the Map View, and Map List. Map View When viewing a map, simply tap the information icon ('i') located at the top right corner beside the search icon. Maps List If you are at the Map List, tap 'Edit' and the information icon ('i') will appear to the right of your map. Tap on the icon and the information will be displayed. 21

Locating with GPS and Compass (ios) Last Updated: Oct 18, :38AM EDT Location Tap the GPS button to find your location on the map. Your location is displayed as a blue dot (customizable in v3.3). The blue transparent circle is an indication of the accuracy of the GPS fix (the smaller the circle, the more accurate of a fix). If you're not physically within the extent of the map, "Not on map" will be displayed where the map coordinates are. On devices with built-in GPS, your location will be triangulated within a few seconds. Depending on your device and available services, your location is determined using a combination of cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. Learn more about Location Services on ios here. Compass Avenza Maps has two different compass options when viewing a map. Follow-mode, and Compass-mode. When the compass is enabled, as shown above, the default is Follow-mode (map is in the default orientation, and the crosshair will follow your movement). If you tap the GPS compass again, it will change to Compass-mode (symbol will change as well), and the map will rotate based on the direction you are facing. A compass also appears in the top-right of the map view. You can also rotate the map manually using a two-finger rotate gesture. To set the map north-up or to exit GPS mode, tap the compass in the top-right of the map view. To exit GPS mode but remain with an oriented map rotation, tap the GPS button. Calibration Your mobile device uses various sensors to obtain compass directions. These sensors are prone to interference and thus you may need to calibrate your device compass from time to time. If you are having issues with the Avenza Maps compass, please consult your device manufacturer's instructions on how to calibrate your device compass. After recalibration is complete, if you are still having issues with the compass, please ensure that you are clear from any potential satellite disruptions (e.g. tall buildings, dense tree cover, etc.) as these will also interfere with a signal. 22

Adding a Placemark (ios) Last Updated: Sep 20, :51PM EDT A placemark marks a position on the map. At its most basic, a placemark is indicated by a default icon and stores geographic location. Adding a placemark To add a placemark, pan to a position on the map centered by the crosshair and tap the Add Placemark icon. A placemark is added with a default icon color and a default name. Placemark details Tap the Information icon on a placemark label to see details about the placemark. On the placemark detail screen, you can change the placemark title, icon, enter a description, add photos, edit the location coordinate, and edit attribute schema. Also, see how to edit placemark attributes and attribute schema. Moving a placemark on a map To move a placemark on the map, tap and hold a placemark, move it to another position and release. Sharing a placemark There are two different ways to share a placemark. One way is to export the placemark and all accompanying information so that it can be imported either into the app elsewhere or for use in an alternative GIS software. For more information on exporting placemarks, please see the help page here. The second is to share a GIF image of the placemark (and its location). This second method is ideal for sharing via social media/networking apps. To share a GIF of a placemark, tap on the information icon for the placemark you want to share, and then tap the export icon and choose how you want to share it (e.g. message, , etc.). Please note: this does not export any actual data that can be re-imported into the app. Deleting a placemark Tap the Information icon on a placemark label to see details about the placemark. Tap the Delete icon. Alternatively, you can delete multiple placemarks through the Map Feature list. 23

Coordinates Display Format (ios) Last Updated: Sep 21, :57PM EDT With a map open, the user can view coordinates of their location or placemarks. Map coordinates are displayed in the toolbar at the bottom of the Map View. To change the coordinate display format, tap the coordinates and scroll through to choose the desired format. Choose from a variety of display formats including map default, WGS 84, UTM, and MGRS/USNG. 24

Map Features (ios) Last Updated: Nov 22, :11AM EST Map Features can be: Placemarks (added or imported) Lines (from measuring or imported) Areas (from measuring or imported) GPS Tracks Photos To see the map features for a map, tap the Map Features icon with the Map View open. A list of features linked to the map is shown. Starting in version 3.3, map features exist in one layer by default. This means that areas, lines, placemarks, and tracks will all exist in the same layer and are no longer divided based on feature type. The layer thumbnail in blue is considered the active layer - any additional map features (areas, lines, placemarks, or tracks) added to the map are placed on that layer. On the Map Features screen, there are several actions you can take: Import Map Features - allows you to add Map Features from existing layers, itunes File Sharing, Dropbox, and URL links Export Map Features - allows you to export Map Features in a variety of formats Search Map Features - allows you to find a specific Map Feature and the map it is on Edit Map Features Add Layer Move Layer Delete 25

Map Feature Information (ios) Last Updated: Sep 21, :28PM EDT Map feature information can be accessed via the Layers tab or the Map View. To access this information while in the Map View, tap the Map Features icon (located next to the wrench) to display the list of available features on that map. When using the Layer's tab (available from the main Maps List, Store, or Settings tabs), the map features displayed will be for all maps currently loaded on your device. To view a map feature's information, tap the Information icon to the right of the feature. Note: When viewed from the Layers tab, the Map Features also display what map they are currently attached to. All features are stored here, and even if not currently on a map, the feature will be listed here. *Image above shows the Map Features as listed from the Layers tab The Layer screen (accessible from the individual feature dialog, and from the Layers panel) provides additional settings to change the layer properties as a whole. From here you can rename the layer, set a default placemark icon for any new placemarks, as well as specify the line styles to be used. In addition, you can also create attribute schemes for data collection. 26

Change Placemark To change the icon for the current placemark (or for the layer itself), tap the icon symbol beside the placemark name (below the placemark name if on the Layer dialog). Below are the default symbol icons available. To import custom icons, please see our article here. Name Specify a name for the layer. Lock Layer Lock the layer so it can't be deleted. Tracks and Lines Set the default colour of tracks and lines. Attribute Schema Tap Add a New Attribute to create a new attribute and to specify attribute settings. See more about Attributes. 27

Attribute Schema (ios) Last Updated: Sep 22, :21AM EDT An attribute schema allows users to create a series of attributes for a layer to make data collection more efficient. The schema defines the name, type, and associated properties such as an optional pick list. To edit an attribute schema, tap the Information icon on the map feature (line of placemark) label. Creating an Attribute Schema There are two ways to create an attribute schema within the app. Both options result in the same workflow but allow for two separate points to create the schema. 1. Through an individual feature on a map. 2. Through the layer itself The workflow below breaks down how to create the schema through the already added feature on a map. 1. Create a feature on a map 2. Tap on the feature to access the Map Feature information screen 3. Tap on 'Edit' in the Attributes section (this will open the Edit Layer screen) 4. With the Edit Layer screen open, you can change the layer name, set a new icon, as well as create your attribute schema. Tap the '+' icon to create a new attribute 5. Rename the attribute as desired 6. Set the type of attribute 1. String - alphanumeric characters 2. Boolean - yes or no values 3. Real - numbers that can contain decimal values 4. Integer - whole numbers 7. If desired, set a picklist value (repeat this step for each value required) 8. Tap the back arrow when the attribute is as desired 9. Repeat steps 6-8 for each desired attribute 28

Importing an Attribute Schema To import a custom schema you will use a similar process to importing Map Features. Open the desired map that you want the schema on, and select the Import Map Features icon. Once open, select the open for 'Import Schema' and navigate to the desired file. Please note that the schema must be in KML format. Once imported, the schema will be on its own layer and may require additional changes in order to be the active layer for data collection (changes required may include moving the schema to the appropriate layer, setting it as the active layer, making any last minute changes to the attributes/picklist values). Exporting an Attribute Schema To export a custom schema you will use a similar process to exporting Map Features. Open the desired map that you want to export the schema from, and select the Export Map Features icon. Once open, fill out the desired information (filename, format - must be KML if you want to re-import into the app), and set the Data type to 'Schema Only' (this will only export the schema with no data). You can also export the features themselves, which will export the features as well as the schema if that is desired. Using Attribute Schemas With an active layer schema, users can begin collecting data using the pre-designed attributes, icons, and other styling settings. To collect data using a schema please follow the steps below: 1. Set the schema as the active layer on a map (please see Managing Features for help on how to do this) 2. Add a placemark, line, track or area to the map 3. Tap on the feature and go to the Edit Map Feature screen 4. In the Attributes section, tap the attribute you need to enter data for 5. If the attribute has a picklist, choose the appropriate value, or enter a new value 6. Tap the back arrow to return to the Edit Map Feature screen 7. Repeat steps 4-6 for each remaining attribute 8. Close the Edit Map Feature screen when you are satisfied 9. Repeat for any other features 29

Managing Map Features (ios) Last Updated: Sep 22, :37PM EDT Using the Map Feature display, you can manage your map features by changing the visibility of features and layers, renaming layers, moving features or layers around, deleting features or layers, or modify specific layers' properties (such as default icon, locking the layer, changing the active layer, etc.). To access the Map Feature display you can either go through Map View or to the Layers tab. The steps below for the various functions can be done from either location. Adjust map feature layer visibility Tap the Map Feature icon in the Map Features List to make all features in that layer invisible. Tap the Map Feature icon again to make all features in that layer visible. The Map Feature icon will be a lighter color and have an invisible icon beside it when the folder is not visible. You cannot toggle visibility of individual features on ios devices, however, you can move features between layers if this is required (e.g. create a folder specifically for features you don't want to see) Layer Settings To view or change the Layer settings, tap the information icon ('i') next to the desired layer information. From here you can rename the layer, lock the layer (prevents it from being deleted), set the default placemark icon and track color, add an attribute schema, as well as set the layer as the active layer for data collection (very important, especially if schemas are involved). 30

Editing Layers Some functions require Edit mode to be enabled. To enable Edit mode, open the Map Features screen (from within a Map View) or go to the Layers tab, and tap Edit. Several contextual options appear to manage layers. 1. Add layer 2. Move layer 3. Delete layer Adding a folder To add a layer to a specific map, tap Edit to enter edit mode, then tap the Add Layer icon. A layer will be added with the name "New Layer". Select the information icon to rename the layer as desired, and change any other default settings. After successfully adding a folder, it is considered linked to the map. Please note, unless specified, a new layer is not automatically the active layer for collection. Moving a folder To move a map feature or entire layer to another layer: 1. From the Map Features list, or from the Layers tab, select Edit 2. In edit mode, tap a layer in the list to select it. 3. Tap the Move Layer icon. 4. In the layer tree, tap the layer where you want to move the selected feature(s)/layers to 5. You will be asked if you want the destination layer's styles to be applied to the new features 1. If you select Yes, the features will be moved and will take on the new styling for the destination alyer 2. If you select No, the features will be moved but will keep their original styling 31

Unlinking or deleting a folder To unlink or delete a folder/map feature: 1. In edit mode, tap a folder in the list to select it. Or swipe a folder to the left to quick delete it. 2. Tap the Delete Folder icon. 3. In the warning message, choose to Delete or Unlink the folder. Deleting the layer folder/map feature will completely delete it from the device. Unlinking the folder/map feature will keep it stored on the device, but will remove it from the map. You can find all folders/map features on the device through the Layers tab. 32

Importing Map Features (ios) Last Updated: Oct 12, :19AM EDT Avenza Maps allows the import of custom map features for use on maps both online and offline. Map Features include placemarks, tracks, lines, and areas (as of v3.3). The first step to importing your own custom map features is to ensure that you have a map open that will cover the area of interest. Once this map is open tap the Map Features icon located next to the wrench (see image below). Currently, imported features must be in either KML/KMZ format or Shapefile. The importing of Attribute Schemas can only be done through the KML/KMZ format. Please note that the importing of Shapefiles requires a Pro subscription, as well as the appropriate files combined together in a ZIP folder in order to successfully import (.shp,.shx,.prj, and.dbf). Once the Map Features List is displayed, tap the Import Map Features icon in the lower right corner. 33

You can import from several sources including: Manage Existing Layers - Allows you to access features from the Layers tab. Please note that if you are wanting to reimport the data into Avenza Maps, data must be exported as either KML/KMZ or Shapefile*. Media Size - This option is valid for data that has images attached to it, provided the appropriate format is selected (KML/KMZ or Shapefile*). The Media Size options available are: No Image Small Medium Large Data - This option will allow you to select the specific layers you would like to export from a map, as well as customize the export options if using AirDrop (features + map, map only, features only) Export - Tapping this will begin the export process and allow you to select/navigation to the appropriate destination based on the Send-To location picked. Please note that if exporting large amounts of data (lots of images for example), the export process can take some time. If exporting to any source that requires an internet connection, please ensure it is a solid connection to prevent data loss. *Shapefile support is available with a Pro Subscription only 36

Tools (ios) Last Updated: Sep 22, :50PM EDT Avenza Maps has several tools to let you interact with maps. To access the tools, you must have a map open. Once you have a map open, tap the Tools icon ( the wrench in the lower right corner), and a list of available tools will be displayed. The tools available are: Draw and Measure - This newly redesigned tool (v3.3) allows you to draw, measure and save a line or area/polygon feature. This feature also allows you to create an area/polygon by tapping to create each vertex, entering point by point coordinates, using bearing and distance, as well as the ability to create a circle. 43 Record GPS Tracks Tool (ios) Last Updated: Nov 22, :09AM EST Within Avenza Maps users have the ability to record their tracks through the use of GPS. Please note that in order to use the Record GPS Tracks feature, users need to have a device that is GPS enabled. Some devices, such as certain models of ipads, do not have a built-in GPS chip, which means that while they will work while connected to the network, once the device is no longer connected to the internet, the GPS will no longer work. Record GPS Tracks is used to record your route, speed, distance, and elevation while you walk, hike, run, bike, or do anything else outdoors. Recording a Track GPS tracks are recorded from directly within a Map View and therefore requires a map to be open. It is possible to continue tracking off the map, but only the portion that is on the map will be displayed. Tracking can also occur across Map Collections as well. There are a variety of GPS Settings that allow users to customize the accuracy based on various scenarios (walking versus driving). For more information, please see GPS Settings. To record a GPS track: 1. Have an appropriate map open that covers the desired area 2. Tap on the Tools icon (the wrench on the lower right side of the toolbar) and select Record GPS Tracks 3. Once a signal has been established (will see "Start" displayed), tap "Start" to begin recording. Your tracks will continuing recording, even if you minimize the app (a badge will be displayed in the Maps List indicating which map is currently being recorded on (see below for screenshot)). 4. When you are done recording, tap 'Stop' and the track will be saved as a Map Feature. 42

Viewing a Track Saved tracks can be viewed on the map or exported for use on another device, or software. For more detailed track information, tap the track to show its label, then tap the information icon. To view Track Statistics, tap on "Show Graph". Track to Area (Pro Subscribers only) New in version 3.3.3, Pro users have the ability to convert a track to an area. In order to use this function, a Pro Subscription must be enabled on the device. To convert a track, tap on the track to view its details, and select Convert To Area. Once selected, a message will be displayed confirming that the area has successfully been generated. 43

Find By Coordinates Tool (ios) Last Updated: Sep 22, :11PM EDT Find by Coordinates can be used on any map to search for a specific location using known coordinates. This tool is ideal if using the app for fieldwork to find where a specific known feature is in order to plot its location, or if using it for navigation purposes (i.e. you know the coordinates for a local bakery and want to see where you are in relation to it). When a location is searched, if it is found on the Map View, the crosshair will automatically zoom and center on that location. To find coordinates: 1. Have the appropriate map open in the app 2. Tap the Tools icon (the wrench in the lower right corner of the toolbar), then tap Find Coordinates. 3. Enter a coordinate into the search bar, then tap Search. *The search coordinate format depends on which coordinate display format was chosen. 44

Open in Google Maps Tool (ios) Last Updated: Sep 22, :22PM EDT Use Open in Google Maps to open the current map view in the Google Maps app. To open the map view in the Google Maps app, you have to have the Google Maps app already installed. If the Google Maps app is not installed, the map view will open in the default Maps app. You can change which app opens in Settings (enable or disable Use Google Map). To use this tool, with any map open, tap the Tool icon (lower right corner), followed by Open View in Google Maps. If Google Maps is installed, and the zoom level selected is valid, Google Maps will open and display the same map view. This can be helpful when looking for certain features that may not be on the map in Avenza Maps (e.g. restaurants), or for quick routing. If the map is too zoomed out for Google Maps to open, you will receive a message that the view could not be opened - please try zooming out further. 45

Plot Photos Tool (ios) Last Updated: Sep 22, :31PM EDT Plot Photos is an alternate way to create a placemark and add the photo. Rather than the traditional method of creating a placemark and then manually adding the photo to it, Plot Photos uses geotagged photos to automatically create a placemark based on the coordinates embedded within the photo. This is ideal if you are taking pictures (ensuring that they are geotagged when you take them - most phones can do this and have it available within the camera settings), and then want to plot them on a map afterward. To plot a photo: 1. Have a valid map open that covers the area required 2. Tap the Tools icon (the wrench on the lower right side of the toolbar), then tap Plot Photos. 3. On the Photo Browser, select photos, and tap Import. 4. A placemark will be added at the location based on the geotagged photo. Although only geotagged photos can be added to the map using the Plot Photos tool, you can still add photos from any location to an existing placemark. On an existing placemark, tap the information icon of the placemark label, then tap Photos. Tap the + icon and attach a photo from the Camera or Photo Library. You can attach multiple photos to a placemark. A number at the corner of the photo on the placemark label indicates how many photos are attached. The first photo attached is the one displayed in the placemark label. 46

Settings (ios) Last Updated: Sep 22, :08PM EDT You can access and define settings for the app here. While some settings vary and some are completely optional, they're simple to use and may help you customize some of the features in the app. The main sections for Settings are as follows: Help Account Information Enter Account Details* Upgrade Account* Restore Previous Purchases About Settings Display Units of Measurement Map View GPS General *When a subscription is applied, these will be replaced with Account Details Help This section provides links to the online help, how to contact Avenza Support, media, and legal links, as well as allow you to re-download the Getting Started map (if it's been deleted). Enter Account Details If you have a subscription ID for an Unlimited or Pro account, this is where you can enter it and register your device. By tapping on this, a second dialog will open where you can enter your username (this refers to the subscription code you received), password (unless your organization has implemented a password, leave this blank) name, (does not have to match your Map Store ), and organization. Please note, that if you purchased a subscription in-app, there is no subscription ID (itunes handles all in-app subscriptions for ios devices). Upgrade Account If you have not purchased a subscription (for either the Unlimited Import, or Pro), but would like to, you can tap 'Upgrade to Pro' in order to initiate the purchase process. You will be presented with two options to purchase: 1) Unlock Map Import - which provides the user access to unlimited custom (non-map store) map imports, or 2) Pro subscription - which provides the user unlimited custom imports, Shapefile support, as well as the appropriate licensing required for commercial use (Pro licensing is required for any work/organization related use of the app and is on a per device basis). For more details on the Subscriptions available, please see our Subscriptions page. 47

Account Details (only visible when a subscription is active on the device) Once a subscription is activated on the device, the Enter Pro Account Details (will remain visible if the subscription is an inapp version), and Upgrade to Pro options will be removed, and replaced with Subscription Details. This allows you to view the details of your subscription including type of subscription, name and the subscription is registered to, as well as the expiration/renewal date of the subscription. Restore Previous Purchases Allows you to restore previous purchases (subscriptions only) made with that itunes account onto the device. About This section provides details about how the itunes subscription service works within Avenza Maps, including information about how to use the automatic renewal feature. Settings This section contains various options for settings throughout the app. The categories included are Display, Units of Measurement, Map View, GPS, and General. Display includes options specific to how features are displayed (crosshair color, location dot color, selection color, lines and area styles, as well as the ability to turn on a haptic (vibrate) response on tap). Units of Measurement allows you to set the desired units to use throughout the app for both line measurements and area. Map View provides display and other settings directly related to the Map View. GPS provides various settings for GPS track recording primarily related to accuracy. Finally, the General Settings contains various debug settings, and core functionality settings to improve map quality on import. 48

Is applied when drawing new features, or importing features that do not have styling attached Vibrate on Tap - Allows you to use your device's haptic (vibrate) feature within the app. 49

Units of Measurement Settings (ios) Last Updated: Oct 12, :23AM EDT New in v3.3 is the ability to set the Units of Measurement for various features in one universal location. The settings available are: Use Metric Units - Allows the user to enable Metric units as the default for tracking and display (map distances) distances Line Units - Allows the user to specify what unit of measurement line features will use. Custom units can be added. Area Units - Allows the user to specify what unit of measurement area features will use 50

Map View Settings (ios) Last Updated: Oct 12, :23AM EDT New in v3.3 is a dedicated settings option for Map View Settings. The settings available here are: Keep Screen On - Stop the system from turning off the screen while viewing a map. Use Google Maps - Uses Google Maps as the default for viewing location. Requires Google Maps to be installed Disable Placemark Aggregation - By default, Avenza Maps will group placemarks together when zoomed out. You can disable this feature and choose to have all features displayed regardless of zoom level Scale Bar - This option allows you to specify whether you want the scale bar shown all the time, always hidden, or shown but will disappear when there is no activity 51

GPS Settings (ios) Last Updated: Sep 22, :48PM EDT The GPS Settings allows the user to specify various settings for GPS data collection, specifically in relation to GPS tracks. The settings available include horizontal accuracy, distance threshold, time threshold, and the ability to ignore suspicious fixes. Horizontal Accuracy This setting will ignore any GPS location fixes that are greater than the distance specified. The default setting for this is 32m. To change this setting, tap on it, and you will be able to select from the following options: Keep all fixes: Allows location fixes of any accuracy. Suitable when you are not concerned about recorded track quality 8m: Allows for high accuracy location fixes only. Suitable for use outdoors when there are few obstructions (e.g. on a hiking trail). This can result in gaps in data if there are lots of obstructions. 16m: Allows for normal accuracy location fixes. Suitable for use outdoors with partial obstructions (e.g. in a city) 32m: Allows for low accuracy location fixes. Suitable for use outdoors with lots of obstructions (e.g. dense urban environment) 52

Distance Threshold This setting specifies the distance that must be traveled from the previous point before a GPS location fix is recorded. The default setting is 2m. To change this setting, tap on it and you will be able to select from the following options: Keep all fixes: Records all location fixes regardless of distance traveled. This will result in a high volume of data, including redundant fixes. Suitable for the highest accuracy required, but should only be used for short tracks in order to remain manageable. 2m: Suitable for recording accurate tracks in most situations 50m: This will record fewer location fixes. Suitable for very long duration tracks with a reduced accuracy Time Threshold Once specified, this setting will record, at most, one GPS location fix in the specified time interval. The default setting is 2 seconds. To change this setting, tap on it and you will be able to select from the following options: Keep all fixes: Records all location fixes regardless of the time interval. This will result in a high volume of data, including redundant fixes. Suitable for the highest accuracy required, but should only be used for short tracks in order to remain manageable. 2 seconds: Suitable for recording accurate tracks in most situations. 30 seconds: This will record fewer location fixes. Suitable for very long duration tracks with a reduced accuracy. Ignore Suspicious Fixes When enabled, this setting will ignore GPS location fixes that may be incorrect. Examples of these fixes include fixes that are very old or fixes that are suddenly very far away (outliers). By default, this setting is enabled. 53

General Settings (ios) Last Updated: Oct 12, :23AM EDT General Settings provides various options to users to enhance their map viewing experience as well as provide debug options if required. Please note that the information below is reflective of v3.3 Allow Usage Reporting Anonymous reports are sent to the Avenza Maps team to improve app usage. Always Use High Resolution When enabled, any maps that are imported will be rendered in high resolution. This can impact import times. Clear Search History Clear all values from the history sections in the search functions. Debug Settings Provides additional options for troubleshooting, as well as Map Store settings 54

Debug Settings (ios) Last Updated: Sep 22, :38PM EDT This page provides various settings and diagnostic logs for troubleshooting any problems that occur within the app. It should be noted that if these are not enabled and an error occurs, it will not be logged. It is recommended that users enable logging so that any problems can be captured and sent to Avenza Support if requested. This information is not sent automatically in the event of a problem. Avenza Map Store Settings Provides options related specifically to the Map Store within the app, including the local purchase history, server address, and the ability to clear the local cache. Log GPS Data The app will create a log of incoming GPS data. This can be helpful in seeing all of the GPS data collected, as well as when troubleshooting any GPS or location issues. Show GPS Log This will allow you to see the GPS log as it is collecting data. This can be useful for on the spot troubleshooting and GPS verification. Debug Logging Enabling this option is helpful for any troubleshooting that may need to occur, and is often requested during these types of support cases to help in diagnosing the issue. Information captured includes any errors and crashes experienced. Reset Debug Log All logged data will be cleared from the device Log The app will the log to support@avenza.com for troubleshooting purposes 55

Test Network This will perform a quick network diagnostic check to ensure that your network is working correctly. If you are receiving any connection related issues (slowness, failed to purchase/download, or just general connection issues with the Map Store), this is a good first to ensure that the app is able to communicate with the network correctly. View Database Statistics View a summary of all the data that is currently stored in the app. This summary includes details about the number of maps, placemarks, photos associated with placemarks, as well as other relevant information. It does not provide the size of files associated with the app, but can be useful in identifying how much data, in general, is stored within the app. 56

Map Store Settings (ios) Last Updated: Sep 22, :35PM EDT The Avenza Map Store Settings page provides three options to users to in order to manage the Map Store, and as well as provide troubleshooting options. Local Purchase History This provides a detailed list of all purchases made on the local device. If map purchases are made while not logged in with an Avenza Map Store account, or if there is an error with a purchase, this is required when contacting Support in order to assist with locating the transactions details. Server Address This can be used to point to a specific map server. Typically this is not required and should be left blank in order to access the default server. Reset Avenza Map Store Cache This will reset the Map Store cache, thereby removing local purchase records. This is sometimes recommended to do if there are problems with the Map Store (e.g. making purchases, no prices showing up, etc.). 57
