1 Splash G Release Notes Contents Revised 9/19/06 Splash G contains a fix for a specific problems with the G640 v4.1.4 software. v4.1.5 supercedes and other G640 patches and contains all of the fixes from v4.1.4 and prior service packs. New Bugs Fixed ColorTuner Prints Black Only Pages as Color Clicks The Print Proof feature of ColorTuner would print all pages as color pages, regardless of actual content. To get ColorTuner Print Proof to print black only pages as black pages, enable the ColorTuneBlackOnly SpecialConfig file following the steps in Using Enabler Files below. Black Only Separations Files Print as Color In previous versions, separations files which contained only black plates would print as color clicks. These files now print as black clicks. Jobs Names Containing Two-Byte Characters Display and Log Incorrectly In previous versions, job names and user names which contained characters from two-byte languages such as Chinese would display incorrectly in the Splash Server UI and when viewing the job log from Excel on a PC. When the Display Kanji Names SpecialConfig file is enabled, these names now display correctly on the UI and in Excel. See Using Enabler Files below for installation instructions. 2 Last Calibrated Setting Lost on Quit In some instances, usually for non-english languages, the Last Calibrated setting in the Splash UI would revert to Not Calibrated after quitting and re-launching the server. The Last Calibrated setting is correctly preserved across restarts of the Splash Server. ColorCal Expert Slider Shows Incorrect Value Editing a profile by moving the slider could cause an incorrect value to show up in the text box below the slider. The text box now correctly reflects the slider setting. Show Composite CMYK Overprints and Screened Not Color Corrected Selected the Show Composite CMYK Overprints and Screened job options for the same job would result in prints that were not color corrected. These prints are now properly color corrected. Staple Jobs Print All Pages as Color Jobs with Staple selected would print all pages of mixed black and white and color documents as color. To get Staple jobs to print mixed documents as a mix of black and white and color, enable the StapleABD SpecialConfig file. See Using Enabler Files below. Set Builder from Tray 5 Fails to Print SetBuilder jobs with Duplex selected would not print if the component jobs were set to print from Tray 5. These jobs would return to the Hold queue without printing. These Set Builder jobs now print correctly. Use Hot Folder Name as Owner Name The ability to use the Hot Folder name or Drop Folder as the owner name for dropped jobs has been added to the Splash Server. To use this feature, enable the UseHotFolderNameAsOwner enabler file following the directions below. Unified Converter Unprintable Files Never Deleted In some cases files processed by the Unified Converter cannot be printed and in some situations, those files would never be deleted from the system. Unprintable files processed by the converter are now deleted. Installation Instructions 1. Quit the Splash Server application. 2. Save the file "Splash G sit" to your hard disk. 3. In the "Utilities folder on the hard drive or user CD, open the "StuffIt Expander 6.0" folder and double click on "StuffIt Expander". 4. In the "File" menu, select "Expand" and then choose the "Splash G sit". Stuffit will create the file "G640 v4.1.5 Update" in the same folder on your hard drive. 5. 3 6. Enter the Administrator password, then click OK. 7. Click on "Install". 8. Restart the Macintosh when the install completes. 9. Launch the Splash server. Note: This installer will auto-replace the "Splash Server" application and several other files. If you select these files and click on 'Command - I' or Get Info from your Apple file menu, the version numbers on these files will now be These steps must be performed again following any re-installation of the Splash G640 Software. v4.1.5 can be installed over any Splash 4.0 or higher release. It is not necessary to install version 4.1 or any prior service pack before installing v New Content in v4.1 Native OS X AppleTalk Spooler The Native OS X AppleTalk Spooler replaces the Splash AppleTalk Spooler which ran in Classic, providing enhanced system stability. The native version of the spooler is a faceless background task controlled via the Splash Server UI. It uses the same server preferences as the Splash AppleTalk Spooler to control the server name, AppleTalk registration, and font downloading. NOTE: AppleTalk and EnergySaver are not fully compatible on OS 10.x. If the Mac goes to sleep, clients will not be able to send jobs until someone physically wakes up the Mac. To avoid problems on first prints in the morning, disable the EnergySaver setting that puts the Mac to Sleep. Native LPR Spooler The Native LPR Spooler replaces Enterprise Networking, which runs in Classic, with a version that runs natively on OS X, providing enhanced system stability and performance. This spooler was originally released in the Native LPR Patch and updated with the LPR Speed Patch. Native Unified File Converter The Splash Unified Converter replaces the TIFF-IT, PDF-X, PSD, and CT-LW file converters with a single converter which is native to OS X. The Unified Converter also adds support for the CT-NLW file format and adds support for multiple input folders each of which output to a different output folder. See the notes below on Using the Unified File Converter. PDF 1.5 Support The Splash Server now supports dropped PDF files which use PDF 1.5 features. Previously these files would error, or print, but with the PDF 1.5 feature partially or incorrectly rendered. Splash G Release Notes Page 3 of 16

4 Known Issues with 4.1 The job status in Print Center at OS 10.3 clients remains Starting Job the entire time the job is printing. It does not switch to Processing Document Using the Unified Converter Single Input and Output Folder for All File Types The Unified Converter uses a single input and output folder for all file types. The installer removes the old TIFF- IT, PDF-X, PSD, and CT-LW drop folders and replaces them with the EFI Converter Drop Folder. By default, the Unified Converter places output files in the Splash Server Drop Folder. The converter preferences can be changed to redirect this to a Hot Folder instead. Converting TIFF-IT and CT-NLW Files TIFF-IT and CT-NLW files are multi-file formats that contain a variable number of files per page. Sometimes it is more convenient to organize these in separate folders, one folder per page. For single pages, the Unified Converter supports dropping either the component files or the folder containing the component files into the input folder. When dropping folders, the name of the folder does not matter, nor do the names of the component files. It is assumed that all files in the folder are components of a single page. Converting Multiple TIFF-IT and CT-NLW Files The preferred method for dropping multiple TIFF-IT or CT-NLW pages to the converter at once is to drop folders containing the component files for each page. Simultaneously dropping the component files for multiple TIFF-IT or CT-NLW files is not strictly disallowed, but is likely to fail if the controller or page files for any of the pages is missing or arrives late in the copy process. To avoid problems, copy folders when dropping multiple pages at the same time. Enabling the Unified Converter To enable and run the Unified Converter, enable the preference for any of the four older converters on the Server pane of the Splash Server Preferences. All file formats will be enabled in the Unified Converter as long as one of the preferences is selected. The icon for the Unified Converter is visible in the Dock after it launches. Setting Input and Output Folders The Folder Options pane of the converter preferences now provides an editable list of named input/output folder pairs. This allows output to multiple Hot Folders to customize the flow of jobs through the system even more. Adding an Input/Output Folder Pair Select the Add button in the Folder Options pane. In the dialog, select the Watch folder and the output folder, then select a name for the pair. The name does not have to be the same as either the input or output folder. It is only for reference. 5 NOTE: Do not select a Splash Hot Folder or Drop Folder as a Watch folder. Instead, create a new folder for the converter Watch Folder and select the Splash Hot Folder or Drop Folder as the Output Folder. Editing an Input/Output Folder Pair Select an existing folder pair, then select Edit. Change the name, Watch Folder, or Output Folder. Deleting a Folder Pair Select an existing folder pair, then select Delete. Setting Other Converter Preferences Notes The other preferences for the Unified Converter are the same as those for the previous PSD and CT-LW converters, which are described in the Splash User Guide. They are accessed via the Preferences menu selection for the converter. Scaling Option Does Not Work for CT-LW and CT-NLW The Scaling option does not work for CT-LW and CT-NLW files. This is a limitation of the implementation. Use the Scale to Fit Splash job option to scale the job to the output page size. New Feature Added adds support for the Show Composite CMYK Overprints feature. The feature is available at the server only in the Job Options dialog for both jobs and Hot Folders. With the feature enabled, the Splash Server is now able to correctly show overprinting as set up by the printing application in composite files. Bugs Fixed in v4.1.4 Unknown Spot Colors Print Black In version 4.1.3, undefined spot colors in composite files would print black. Composite files now correctly print the CMYK equivalents for undefined spot colors. This was previously fixed by a startup file. The startup file is no longer necessary and is removed by the installer. Error -255 Printing via AppleTalk Some AppleTalk clients would report an error -255 when printing to the Splash Server after the server had been idle for a long time. Files now print correctly from these clients. Double Scan from ColorCal On some systems running OS , ColorCal scans would cause the copier to scan twice before successfully completing the scans. ColorCal now scans once on all systems. Splash G Release Notes Page 5 of 16

6 Imposition Hang on OS On some systems running OS , imposition jobs would fail to complete processing and remain in the Imposing state. Imposition jobs now process correctly on all OS systems. Slow RIP for Some Illustrator Files Certain Illustrator files which made extensive use of spot colors for small objects would RIP slowly. These files now RIP about twice as fast as in version Black Only Files From Harlequin RIP Fail to Print Files produced by a Harlequin RIP which contained only black data would fail to print at the Splash Server. These files now print properly. Jobs Options Not Accepted from InDesign Job options set in the client print driver were not accepted by the server when printing complicated files from InDesign on Mac OS X. The job options set in the client are now used by the server. Separation Files Job Options Change After RIP Separations files downloaded via Hot Folders to the Splash Server would RIP and print properly and return to the Hold queue. The job options for these files would show the Color Model as grayscale even though the Hot Folder was set for Color. The job options now keep the Color Model as Color. To see this change take effect, you must do the following for all existing Hot Folders Login as adminstrator Select Hot Folders from the Server menu Select the Hot Folder from the list Select Edit Click OK in the Job Edit dialog Document and Owner Name Wrong for AppleTalk Jobs In version 4.1 and higher, the document and owner names were swapped for jobs sent via AppleTalk. The document and owner names are correct for all jobs. Imposition Fixes All of the fixes from the Imposition Patch are included. The most recent fixes included are: Acrobat 6 from Mac OS X Not Recognized Acrobat 6 from Windows XP Not Recognized Splash G Release Notes Page 6 of 16

7 Bugs Fixed in v4.1.3 Mac OS 10.4 Supported Previous versions of the Splash Server would encounter various problems when running on OS Version runs correctly on OS 10.4 ColorCal Fails to Scan on OS On OS ColorCal would generate an internal error and fail to complete the scan for calibration successfully. ColorCal now scans and calibrates successfully on OS Quark Spot Color Gradient Prints Black In version 4.1.2, some Quark Xpress spot color gradients would print as a black gradient instead of the desired color. These gradients now print correctly. Certain TIFF-IT Files Print Wrong Size TIFF-IT files that contained only line work files with the resolution set to dots per centimeter would print with incorrect scaling applied. These files now print correctly. Some TIFF Files Crash Splash Server Certain TIFF files placed in the Drop Folder would crash the Splash Server. These files now print correctly. ColorTuner Forces Color Click Applying ColorTuner changes to an all-black page would result in a color click even if the changes output only black data. Page which emerge from ColorTuner as black now print as black and white clicks. Epson Scan Software Requires Reinstall After Patch Installation After previous Splash Server patches were installed, it was necessary to re-install the Splash software which enables the Epson scanners for use with DC 12 LP. With and higher, it is no longer necessary to reinstall the Epson software after installing server patches. Bugs Fixed in V4.1.2 Win 2K Acrobat 6 PDFs Do Not Impose PDF files printed from Acrobat 6 on Windows 2K/XP would generate an error message stating that the application was not recognized or would generate a Postscript error. Acrobat 6 files from Win 2K/XP now are correctly recognized and imposed. Splash G Release Notes Page 7 of 16

8 Unable to Save Scans to Default Folder On some systems the Splash Server was unable to save scans to the default folder for saving scans. The Splash Server is now able to save scans to that folder. Shifted or Missing Planes on G5s and Dual G5s Some very complicated files printed by Splash Servers running on G5s and Dual G5s would print with shifted or missing planes unless enabler files were used. These files now print correctly and no longer require the enabler files. The G5Coeff and NoisyPatternFix enabler files are still available, however, and will work if problems re-occur in the future. 2-up and Spot Color Separations Print Incorrectly Jobs containing spot color separations would print incorrectly with overlapping color plates or content from previous jobs. Spot color separations now print correctly with 2-up selected. Previews Clipped For some page sizes the previews shown by the Splash Server would clip and not show the right and/or bottom edges of the page. The previews now better show all edges of the pages. Quark Pantone Fonts Print as CMYK For some jobs with fonts defined as spot colors, some portions of the text would print using the CMYK equivalents for the spot colors rather than the spot colors themselves. These fonts now print using the spot colors. Hot Folder Jobs from Some Prepress Systems Error Hot Folder jobs from particular prepress systems would error when first RIPped then print correctly when rereleased from the Error queue. This can be made to work now by enabling the HotFolderDelay enabler file and editing it with TextEdit to set a delay time in seconds for Hot Folder jobs. The delay time should be set as short as possible while still allowing the files to print without error the first time. With this enabled, all jobs placed in a Hot Folder or the Drop Folder will experience a delay equal to the time set in the HotFolderDelay file before being accepted into the Splash Server queues. Bugs Fixed in V4.1.1 Foreground Printing From Mac OS 9 Crashes Server In v4.1 printing from an OS 9 client using the Foreground Printing option could crash the Splash Server. Printing with the Foreground Printing option now properly spools to the Splash Server and prints. Splash G Release Notes Page 8 of 16

9 Jobs Do Not Appear in Server Queue Until Re-launch In v4.1 if the Active, Hold, and Error queues all were empty, jobs printed to the Splash Server from a client would not appear until the server was quit and re-launched. The workaround was to leave at least one job in the queues at all times. Empty queues no longer prevent jobs from appearing and the workaround is no longer needed. Acrobat 6 PDFs Do Not Impose PDF files generated by Acrobat 6(PDF 1.5) would generate an error message stating that the application was not recognized. PDF 1.5 files now are correctly recognized and imposed. Some TIFF-IT Files Scale Incorrectly In v4.1, TIFF-IT files that contained a TIFF file with a resolution specified in dots per centimeter would print with the output scaled incorrectly. These files now print at the correct size and resolution. Freehand Gradients Don t Overprint Freehand separations files that contained a gradient set to overprint would print, but the overprint selection for the gradient would not be honored and the gradient would knock out the underlying element. These gradients are now properly overprinted. Impose Separations Skip Pages Files imposed within Quark Xpress using the Impose Quark extension then printed from Quark Xpress with separations selected would somtimes skip pages when printing. These files can now be printed correctly by enabling the FixImpose2.0.2 enabler file. Using this enabler file may cause incorrect page counts to appear for other separations files, but the files will still print correctly. Bugs Fixed in v4.1 Spot Color Separations Error With Service Pack 8, spot color separation files would error when processing. These files now process and print correctly. Crash Saving ColorTuner Set On some systems, the Splash Server would crash when saving a ColorTuner Set in the ColorTuner dialog. ColorTuner Sets are now saved correctly. Some Illustrator Files RIP Slowly Illustrator files with spot colors could RIP slowly when printed in Composite mode. These files now RIP substantially faster. Splash G Release Notes Page 9 of 16

10 Control Strip Prints Incorrectly with Separations When printing separations files, only the black component of the Control Strip would print. All components of the Control Strip now print correctly for separations files. Crash Printing Specific Kanji Font When printing a specific Kanji font, DF-Ming-Light-B5, with a large font size, the server would crash or produce bad output. The server now properly prints DF-Ming-Light-B5. Bugs Fixes In Service Pack 8 Bad Output Printing Certain PDFs With previous software, certain very complicated PDFs on large page sizes would print incorrectly even though the preview looked correct. These files print correctly with this patch. Certain Pantone Colors Not Recognized Some Pantone Uncoated colors printed from Illustrator and Freehand were not recognized as spot colors by the Splash Server and would not print the exact Pantone color. These colors are now recognized and print the exact Pantone color. Two Log Entries for Cancelled Job When a job was cancelled while printing, the Splash job log would record two entries for the job. The second entry showed no pages printed, so the overall page count was still correct. The job log now records only a single entry for a cancelled job. Don t Rotate 2-up Normally printing using the 2-up option rotates the two copies so the left-hand edge is always straight and the right-hand edge of the print is always cut. On some systems it is desirable to not rotate the two copies. To not rotate, enable the DontRotate2up file, following the steps in Using Enabler Files below. Setting Number of Copies for Hot Folders Normally the Splash Server does not allow setting the number of copies for Hot Folders. To be able to set the number of copies for Hot Folders, enable the SetCopiesForHotFolders file, following the steps in Using Enabler Files below. NOTE: With this feature enabled, if you don t want a particular Hot Folder to force a number of copies, set the number of copies to 0 in the Hot Folders dialog. Splash G Release Notes Page 10 of 16

11 No Space in Hot Folders folder name For compatibility with some UNIX systems that don t support spaces in file names, it is now possible to rename the Hot Folders folder to HotFolders. To do this, enable the NoSpaceInHotFolders file, following the steps in Using Enabler Files below. 2-up for Letter and A4 Normally the Splash Server does not allow 2-up output on Letter and A4 page sizes. To add Letter and A4 output, enable the SmallSEF2up, following the steps in Using Enabler Files below. NOTE: This only enables 2-up output for Letter SEF and A4 SEF. Letter LEF and A4 LEF are not supported. Bugs Fixes In Service Pack 7 Mac OS 10.3 Supported Various problems using the G640 Server with Mac OS 10.3 are fixed. Anyone using the G640 Server with Mac OS 10.3 must install Patch 7. Problem with Reverse Order Single Copy Collated Jobs Jobs printed with the Reverse Order and Collate job options, 1 copy, which contained black-only data on the last page of the job would print the entire job as black-only regardless of the color content of the other pages. The previous workaround was to disable the Collate option. These jobs now print properly with the Collate option selected. Server Hangs While Downloading Fonts With Service Pack 6 installed, on many systems the server would hang while downloading fonts forcing a reboot of the Splash Server. Fonts now download properly. Quark Scale to Fit Errors Jobs for very large page sizes sent to the Splash Server with the Quark Scale To Fit option selected would error unless a special configuration file was used. These files now print correctly without the use of the special configuration file. Jobs RIP and Print Twice In some conditions, jobs sent to the Splash Server would RIP more than once and print twice as many copies as requested. All jobs now RIP once and print the correct number of copies. Spurious Page Size and Postscript Errors On some systems, the server would incorrectly generate errors reporting that the requested page size was not in the copier or error with an InputAttributes Postscript error. When re-released, the jobs would process. These errors no longer appear if the correct paper size is installed in the copier. Splash G Release Notes Page 11 of 16

12 Large Separations Files Fail to Re-Print After Server Restart Large separations files sent from Quark, InDesign, etc. sometimes would fail to re-rip or ColorTune properly after quitting and restarting the Splash Server. The files would process for a while then return to the hold queue without printing and with no error message. The files now re-rip and print correctly. Server Macintosh Won t Boot The Splash Server Macintosh could get into a state where it would not boot properly. It would continuously report that an error occurred during the boot process and that a reboot was necessary. Working around the problem required reinstalling system software or removing and then re-seating the Splash board. Once this patch is installed, this problem will not re-occur. NOTE: If a system is experiencing this problem, hold down the shift key while booting the Mac until you see the words Safe Boot appear on the screen. Once the system boots, you have access to the network and the internet and can download the patch to the server and install it. Once the patch is installed, you may safely reboot your Macintosh without holding down the shift key. Bugs Fixes In Service Pack 5 Large Jobs Printed From OS X Client Error In Service Pack 4, large jobs printed via AppleTalk from OS X clients would often generate Postscript errors at the Splash Server. These jobs now process and print correctly. Bugs Fixes In Service Pack 4 Dropped Files from Mac Clients Won t Process Files placed in the Drop Folder or Hot Folders using Guest access for Mac OS 9 and OS X clients would remain in the Drop Folder or Hot Folder and would not process. These files are now correctly recognized by the server and are processed. Freehand Separations Files Rotate Some Parts of Even Pages Documents printed from Freehand as separations with the Splash duplex option selected would print with one or more of the color planes on the even pages rotated 180 degrees with respect to the other color planes on the page. All color planes on each page now print in the correct orientation. Spool Time Updates When Server Quits The spool time shown in the server UI for all files would update to the present time when the server was quit. The spool time is now properly preserved when the server quits. Splash G Release Notes Page 12 of 16

13 Dropped Prinergy PDFs Print With Reversed Colors Some PDF files created by Prinergy would print with various color components reversed - the Black data printing as Cyan, Cyan printing as Magenta, etc. All colors now print correctly. Extremely Large Paper Sizes Hang or Crash Server Under some circumstances, extremely large page sizes set up via the PPDs of other printers could cause the Splash Server to hang or crash. The Splash Server will now error the job with an error message stating that the requested page size is not available. Use the Force Page Size job option with the Scale to Page Size option to print these jobs. First Job in After Mac Restart Hangs Server In some cases, particularly for separations files or jobs with ColorTuner applied, the first job RIPped after restarting the Macintosh could cause the server to hang. The first job now RIPs correctly in all cases. Magenta Cast in Output With Service Pack 3, a magenta cast to the output was observed on some Splash Servers connected to DC 12 CP copiers. This cast no longer occurs. To fully remove the case, it is necessary to calibrate the scanner, then calibrate the printer following installation of this service pack. Bugs Fixed in Previous Service Packs Spot Color Separations Print with Wrong Colors In some instances from various applications, Spot colors printed as separations printed with dramatically wrong colors. Spot colors printed as separations now print correctly. 2-up Imposition and Force Tray Hangs Printing a job with the 2-up Imposition job option enabled and selecting a particular tray would cause the job to hang with an error message at the copier asking you to load a specific paper size in the selected tray. 2-up imposition now prints properly when a specific tray is selected. Jobs Error with Quark Scale to Fit Selected Some jobs printed from Quark Xpress with the Quark Scale to Fit option selected would error with a message that the custom page size was too small to print. This happened when the original Quark file was smaller than 6.5 on a side. These jobs now print correctly. Enterprise Networking Receives Jobs Very Slowly With service pack 2, on some networks Enterprise Networking received jobs very slowly. Enterprise Networking now receives jobs at approximately the same speed as the GM. Splash G Release Notes Page 13 of 16

14 CopyCal Errors Scanning Target When scanning with the Epson 1260 scanner, CopyCal generates an error when scanning the fourth target and fails to save the profile. CopyCal now properly scans all four targets and saves the profile. CopyCal Crashes Scanning Target On some systems, CopyCal crashes when analyzing the CopyCal targets. The crash no longer occurs. Splash Server Locks Up Unexpectedly In some high-volume environments, the Splash Server would lock up unpredictably. These lockups are now eliminated or reduced significantly. Some Acrobat 5 PDFs Error Certain Acrobat 5 PDF files would error when dropped to the Splash Server, particularly files with transparent text objects. Those PDFs now process correctly. Blank Output with Progressives On For Separations Files Printing separations files with the Progressives job option selected would result in blank pages printing. The correct progressives pages now print. Ghosting on Multi-page Separations Files The latter pages of multiple page separations files could show data from previous pages if any CMYK planes of the page had no data. These files now print the correctly combined separations. Canceling From Mac Client Produces Errors Canceling a Mac client print job from the client while it was being received at the Splash Server could cause errors at the Splash Server. In some cases, subsequent Mac client jobs would fail to spool and generate a -47 error, requiring a reboot of the Splash Server. In other cases, the server would receive and process jobs, but the job could not be deleted and attempts to quit the server would fail, requiring a Force Quit. Canceling from the client now works. The partiallly completed job may remain in the Hold queue, but no errors are generated and the server may be gracefull quit. Canceling From Windows Client Produces Errors Canceling a Windows client print job from the client while it was being received at the Splash Server could cause errors at the Splash Server. The server would receive and process jobs, but the job could not be deleted and attempts to quit the server would fail, requiring a Force Quit. Canceling from the client now works. The partiallly completed job may remain in the Hold queue, but no errors are generated and the server may be gracefull quit. Can t Create CMYK Custom Spot Color Custom spot colors edited in CMYK in the Spot Color Editor would usually appear and print black. Custom spot colors edited in CMYK now look correct on the screen and print correctly on the test page and in jobs. Splash G Release Notes Page 14 of 16

15 UI Responsiveness While RIPping While RIPping some jobs, the server UI would become noticeably less responsive than while the server was idle. The UI now responds quickly while RIPping. Force Page Size Doesn t Work if Print Info Enabled The Force Page Size job option was ignored if the Promote Page Size option in the Print Info preferences was enabled and Print Info was enabled for the job. Force Page Size now takes precedence over the Promote Page Size option. Last Calibrated Status in the UI Doesn t Update The Last Calibrated status field in the server UI would only update if the server were quit and re-launched. Now the Last Calibrated status updates shortly after calibration completes. Changes to Color Profiles Don t Get Applied When Grayscale Job Option Selected Changes to color profiles made via the ColorCal Expert mode were not applied to jobs printed with the Grayscale color mode job option selected. The edits to multi-dimensional profiles are now properly applied. Edits to 1-D profiles are still not properly applied when Grayscale is selected. Buttons in FIGSBP Web UI Don t Work Some of the buttons in Web UI for some non-english languages did not function. Nothing happened when they were selected. The buttons in the Web UI work for all languages now. Imposition Updates Fixes for various imposition problems are included. Using Enabler Files To install an enabler file, do the following 1. Quit the Splash Server 2. Open the Splash Folder, then open the SpecialConfigs folder. 3. Inside the SpecialConfigs folder, open the Disabled folder. 4. Move the specified file from the Disabled folder to the SpecialConfigs folder. 5. Launch the Splash Server. Splash G Release Notes Page 15 of 16

16 Other Changes Allowing More Than 200 Jobs in the Server Queues The normal limit for the number of jobs in the server is 200. This service pack adds a way to override that default. To change the limit, do the following: 1. Quit the Splash Server 2. Open the Splash Folder, then open the SpecialConfigs folder. 3. Inside the SpecialConfigs folder, open the Disabled folder. 4. Move the file MaxJobsInQueue from the Disabled folder to the SpecialConfigs folder. 5. Edit the MaxJobsInQueue file with TextEdit and change the number 200 to the desired number. 6. Save the file and quit TextEdit. 7. Launch the Splash Server. You should now be able to hold as many jobs in the queue as you specified in the file. Note: The maximum number of jobs tested with the Splash Server is 500. Anything above that should work but has not been tested. As the number of jobs in the queue increases, the responsiveness of the UI goes down, so we recommend keeping the number fairly low. Splash G Release Notes Page 16 of 16
