1 User Guide Document No March 23, 2015 Siemens TC Driver General Description The Siemens TC Driver resides on a TALON Network Manager (TNM) or TALON Workstation and expands the functionality of Siemens BACnet controllers through TALON Niagara stations. The Siemens TC Driver allows for easy integration with the TALON Controller (TC), enabling the functionality of BACnet IP, but with tighter integration. The Siemens TC Driver enables the creation and modification of the following database objects: Device configuration Points Control Programs (PPCL) Schedules Alarms Trends/Histories The Siemens TC Driver also eliminates BACnet IP Driver costs, including restrictive per point licenses. It simplifies, improves, and enables the database creation process from Niagara beyond what can be done with simple BACnet IP. 2 TALON Architecture The Siemens TC Driver fits into the TALON architecture in one of two ways. AX Workstation/Workbench with the Driver Installation and Connection NOTE: When upgrading an existing database, you must delete all devices under the TC Driver before installing the.jar files. NOTE: Before installing the Siemens TC Driver, ensure that you have the SiemensTC.jar loaded on the TALON Network Manager (TNM) or TALON Workstation. The.jar is part of the installation program or can be found on the Vantage Web site. If you are using the default station database (SiemensApplianceNewTcDriver), the driver is already in the station and you can proceed to Step 3. TALON Network Manager (TNM) with the Driver 1. In the Workbench Palette pane, choose siemenstc from the drop-down list. 2. Drag-and-drop the SiemensTcNetwork Driver from the siemenstc category to the Drivers folder in the Siemens TALON WorkStation AX navigation pane. 3. Right-click the driver in the navigation pane and click Property Sheet. 4. Enter the user name and password. NOTE: It is strongly recommended that you change the user name and password from the default. The Siemens TC Driver currently supports passwords with 7 or fewer characters. 5. Click Save. Mapping the TC Driver to Launch Pad Within the AX Workbench Tools drop-down menu: 1. Select Siemens TC Launch Pad Tool. 2. In the Windows File Chooser dialog box navigate to the location of the Launch Pad application (typically C:/Program Files(x86)/Siemens/ LaunchPad/SiemensLaunchPad.exe). 3. Click OK. Using the Siemens TC Driver Discovering the Panels 1. Double-click the driver in the navigation pane. 2. Click the Discover button at the bottom of the Siemens TC Panel Manager pane. The internetaddress dialog box displays. 3. Enter the IP address of one of the controllers in the network. Click OK. All discovered controllers display in the Discovered pane. 2 Adding the Controller to the Database

3 1. Drag-and-drop one or more discovered controllers into the database pane. The add dialog box displays. 2. Click OK. Auto-learning the Job To discover all of the points, schedules, trends, and PPCL objects in the database: 1. Select the controller in the navigation pane. 2. Right-click the controller. 3. Choose Actions. 4. Click Submit Auto Learn All Job. A status box displays in the bottom right, indicating successful completion of auto-learning. Points and objects are accessible in the navigation pane. Manually Learning the Job To manually discover points, schedules, trends, and PPCL objects, do the following: 1. In the navigation pane, highlight the point type or object to be discovered. 2. Double-click to open the object manager. 3. Click the Discover button at the bottom of the manager window. 3. In the Discover pane, select the points or objects to be discovered and drag-and-drop them to the Database pane. NOTE: If you perform point discovery from the root points folder, you can discover all point types. You can also rename the predefined point folder names by changing the slot display name. However, you cannot rename the folder itself. Manually Learning the FLN Devices To discover all of the controller s FLN devices: 1. Select the controller in the navigation pane. 2. Right-click the controller. 3. Choose Actions. 4. Click Submit Learn Fln Job. A status box will display in the bottom right, indicating successful completion of learning. FLN devices will be accessible in the navigation pane. NOTE: If you are using the Siemens AX Appliance with the Siemens TC Driver, learning the FLN devices is not necessary. Viewing a History Table 1. In the navigation pane, click the History folder. Locate and select the History point that you want to view. 2. Right-click and select Views. Choose either Chart or Table view. The data displays. Accessing Siemens Launch Pad Siemens Launch Pad will open the editor that corresponds to the object from which it was accessed. It is not necessary to log in to the editor each time it is opened. Before accessing Siemens Launch Pad you must associate it within the Niagara framework: 1. From the Workstation AX Tools menu, select Siemens TC Launch Pad Tool. 2. Navigate in the file system to the location where Launch Pad is installed: For Windows 7, 64-bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\siemens\talon Launch Pad\_x_x_xx For Windows XP or 7, 32-bit: C:\Program Files \Siemens\TALON Launch Pad\_x_x_xx 3. Select SiemensLaunchPad.exe. Select the file and click the Open button, or double-click the file. Accessing the Point Commander: 1. In the navigation pane, highlight the name of the point you want to command. Double-click the Proxy Ext (found under each point by clicking the + icon) folder. Right-click the Proxy Ext folder, choose Views, and then choose Siemens TC Application Launcher. 3. Do one of the following: To launch the Point Commander application, click Launch Application View. To launch the Point Editor, click Launch Accessing the Trend Editor: 3

4 1. Do one of the following: In the navigation pane, double-click the trend object you want to view/modify. Right-click the trend object you want to view or modify, choose Views, and then choose Siemens TC Application Launcher. To launch the Trend Viewer application, click Launch Application View. To launch the Trend Editor, click Launch 4

5 Accessing the Schedule Editor: 1. In the navigation pane, highlight the schedule you want to view. Double-click the Export folder. Right-click the Export folder, choose Views, and then choose Siemens TC Application Launcher. 3 Do one of the following: To launch the Schedule Viewer application, click Launch Application View. To launch the Schedule Editor, click Launch NOTE: Schedules cannot be edited in Schedule Editor. Schedules must be edited in the AX Workstation and exported into the field panel. See the Modifying a Schedule section. Accessing PPCL Editor (using PPCL Assist): 1. In the navigation pane, right-click the PPCL program you want to view/modify. 2. Choose Views, and then choose Siemens TC Application Launcher. 3. To launch the PPCL Editor, click either Launch Application View or Launch Modifying a Schedule 1. In the navigation pane, double-click the schedule you want to view or modify. The schedule will display as blank, even though it has been created (viewable using the Siemens Launch Pad). 2. Make modifications to the schedule using the Workbench scheduler. 3. Click Save. The modified schedule is automatically exported to the controller according to the execution time configured in the TC Schedule Export settings. To manually export the modified schedule to the controller: In the navigation pane, right-click the Export object under the schedule you have just modified, choose Actions, and then choose Execute. The modified schedule is exported to the controller. Siemens TC Driver Videos For video demonstrations of the Siemens TC Driver features, see the Vantage Web site. Schedules can be viewed in the Schedule Viewer application using Siemens Launch Pad, but all scheduling must be done through the Niagara Workbench scheduling application. NOTE: Existing time slices defined in the TC Controller will NOT be uploaded to Niagara. Information in this publication is based on current specifications.
