7 Overview Overview These release notes highlight features and functionality enhancements implemented in APOGEE Firmware Revision.5. NOTE: Firmware Revision.5 supports the increased memory in the F and F32 PXC Controller models, available October 2013 (revision BA). The Unitary Equipment Controller (UEC) cost-optimized feature set is now available on the PXC Compact 16 controller. New PXC Compact 16 and PXC Compact 24 are available with FLN license installed and enabled from the factory (F32). Enhancements have been added to the firmware, the BACnet Field Panel Web Server, and FINlite. Solutions to issues noted in the field. 8 Compatibility BACnet Firmware Compatibility with Insight Software and Commissioning Tool Compatibility Field Panel Platforms Field panels containing an earlier revision of Firmware 3.x do not require an upgrade to Firmware Revision.5 unless you want to utilize the new features. Insight Software and Commissioning Tool (CT) The tables on the following pages outline which Firmware Revisions are compatible with each revision of Insight software or Commissioning Tool (CT). Database backups to Insight or Commissioning Tool (CT) version 2 and earlier will not save Remote Notification Recipient List information from the field panel. There are three ways to save this information. Backup/Restore from Flash: Backup and restore from the host controller s flash drive will retain the remote recipient list and is the preferred restoration method. Commissioning Tool (CT) (offline): Using MMIXfer to perform a Database Backup to a P2 file, and restoring from the same file will retain the Remote Recipient List. Commissioning Tool (CT) (online)/insight: Using Database Transfer to perform a BACnet Backup will save the full database with the Remote Notification information to a file, as long as the BACnet field panel definition within system profile has the appropriate credentials field completed. NOTE: If an earlier revision of Insight software or Commissioning Tool (CT) is used, the XML file or registry update provides the capability for some earlier revisions to communicate with the field panel. The XML file or registry update does not provide the new features or icons of the latest Insight software or Commissioning Tool (CT) revision. The.xml and.reg update files released with Firmware Revision.5 include all previous XML/registry updates. BACnet Firmware Compatibility with Insight Software and Commissioning Tool This section outlines which APOGEE firmware revisions are compatible with Insight software and Commissioning Tool (CT) (online mode), and the field panels that support those revisions. 8

12 Installation Installation Existing compatible field panel hardware with Firmware Revision or later can be upgraded by flashing the new firmware. Flash upgrades are installed using Firmware Loading Tool (FLT) Revision 2, which is included with Commissioning Tool (CT) Revision 2 or later. Compact and Modular field panels can be upgraded to BACnet firmware. 12

13 Unitary Equipment Controller (UEC) Unitary Equipment Controller (UEC) The Unitary Equipment Controller (UEC) cost-optimized feature set is now available on the PXC Compact 16 controller. The PXC16 UEC provides the same features and functions that are currently available on the PXC24 UEC. Below is a summary of those features. Shipped from the factory in FLN mode, but can be switched to run in ALN-node mode and connected as an ALN device. NOTE: PXC16 UEC and PXC24 UEC controllers can no longer be upgraded with a license to full versions of the PXC Compact 16 or 24. The UEC can reference external (off-node) objects using either Device Specific Name or BACnet Encoded Name. The UEC Ethernet port functionality (Telnet and FTP) is disabled, even if the Ethernet port is present on the controller. The UEC supports the PXM10S and PXM10T controller mounted operator display modules. The UEC does not support HOA modules (PXA8-M, PXA16-M, PXA16-MR). Scheduling, trending, and alarming are limited to local objects. The following BIBBS are NOT supported: AE-N-E-B (External Algorithmic Alarming) Scheduling, trending, and alarming are limited to local objects. T-VMT-E-B (External Trend) SCHED-E-B (External Schedule) FLN Node Mode When the UEC is operating in FLN node mode, it has the capability to monitor points from other devices, and recognize the point by device specific name, or BACnet encoded name. However a point log display shows only points that reside locally on the UEC. Some functions, depending on the exchange of proprietary messages, such as replication, and database download, are not available. BACnet Encoded names or device specific names must be used for referencing external objects. FLN Node Mode Functionality: Only visible to Web Server when defined as FLN device. Operates on the FLN without replication. Cannot be programmed from an ALN device, if added as an FLN device. Recognized as a Siemens device (Vendor ID = 7). Exposes application number and default subpoint. Supports failure detection of the UEC by other nodes. Limited support of failure detection of other nodes by the UEC, only when defined as a node of interest. No global data such as BLN User account or State Text tables support. 13

14 Unitary Equipment Controller (UEC) No database upload and download from Insight but database can be saved in panel flash memory. In.5 Autosave and Autorestore are now enabled by default, and leaving them enabled is recommended. ALN Node Mode (MS/TP only) When the UEC is operating in ALN node mode, it retains the capability to monitor points from other devices and recognizes the point by system name, device specific name, or BACnet encoded name. All functions depending on the exchange of proprietary messages, such as discovery, replication, and database download, are available. ALN Node Mode Functionality: Only visible to Commissioning Tool (CT) for editing and commissioning when defined as ALN device (not visible from BACnet Field Panel Web Server). Time is synchronized with the Insight workstation. In the event of a network failure, the UEC independently maintains control of the time and scheduling, trending, and alarming. 14

15 Enhancements Enhancements Firmware Firmware Revision.5 supports: P1 TEC s with subpoint numbers over 99 BACnet Field Panel Web Server Firmware Revision.5 supports the following features which have been added to the Web Server: The ALN Node Table Editor The Panel Configuration Editor Static and dynamic icons indicating panel status and compatibility FINlite Firmware Revision.5 supports the following features which have been added to FINlite: Graphics deletion via FINlite Static and dynamic icons indicating panel status and compatibility Default Settings FLN default configuration is MS/TP Panel s default MS/TP FLN node number is now 0 (rather than 127) Alarm Header Disable Firmware Revision.5 supports the Alarm Header Disable feature in the HMI. This feature allows a user to disable the alarm header for cleaner, more concise alarm messages to third-party alarm recipient devices. 15

16 Solutions to Issues Noted in the Field Solutions to Issues Noted in the Field Solutions to the following issues have been implemented in APOGEE Firmware Revision.5: General Asynchronous BACstac calls now handle the return status BACSTAC_STATUS_OUT_OF_RESOURCES properly; COV processing no longer locks up or causes coldstart. USB File creation no longer fails due to Read-only Property. BACnet panel's HMI Quit feature correctly takes you back one prompt. PXC36 no longer cold-starts while backing up a PXC16 through it with Commissioning Tool (CT). Integration with Siemens SED2 Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) on MS/TP FLN no longer shows sluggish HMI behavior. Infinite display loop in the HMI (System > Diagnostics > Ebln > Display > cov_xref) has been resolved. Unitary Equipment Controller (UEC) displays nettype prompts correctly. Entering a file name instead of a directory via HMI Filesys Remove_dir no longer results in an incorrect Deleted successfully" message being displayed. Moving a file from the IFD to a non-existent drive no longer results in an incorrect "Done" message. The status of the last known backup after a coldstart no longer comes up as unknown. Panel no longer coldstarts when processing certain fragmented IP messages. Panel no longer locks up and is able to properly discover all BACnet ATEC. Panel no longer intermittently fails to run Subpoint Log and PPCL command on MS/TP devices that do not support RPM. One minute interval trends now collect the sample for 00:57 each day. BACnet Field Panel Web Server User Interface Graphics backup no longer causes coldstart. Schedule Viewer now displays the correct start and end times for an exception schedule that spans multiple days. Unack Alarm count is now incrementing properly. Chinese Traditional Language file is now correct. Point Log Reports for subpoints now appropriately display all decimals. 16
