Introduction to Metasys User Interface

1 The user interface is organized into dashboards and the widgets within them. This document explores the dashboards and widgets in detail. To connect to the User Interface, go to server>/ui Graphics Widget If your site has Graphics, the Graphics Widget will appear when you first log in. Use this widget to view graphics associated with a space or piece equipment. Graphics provide a visual representation the monitored systems that enable you to quickly check the status spaces or equipment and recognize unusual system conditions. Graphics can be designed to allow the user to move through buildings, floors, and other areas, viewing building systems and control processes. Preserve your investment. The Graphics widget will display Metasys UI graphics, Graphics+ or Standard graphics, therefore preserving your investment into your graphics, while still allowing you to move forward with the latest technologies. Device Agnostic. Metasys leverages the same user interface to display graphics on any type mobile device (e.g. phone, tablet). Easy to Use. No separate stware install required on client computers (i.e. no Silverlight or other native app) in order to view and use the Metasys User Interface. Did You Know? The new user interface can be accessed from a browser on any client device (phone, tablet, PC or Mac). The content shown automatically adjusts to the screen size in use. To demonstrate this using a PC, drag the browser window to approximately the size a tablet or mobile device and you will see the interface automatically adapt. Johnson Controls, Inc. 07 (January)

To connect to the User Interface, go to server>/ui Space Dashboard The Space Dashboard appears when you first log in if graphics are not configured. If the customer has graphics, the Space Dashboard can be accessed by using the navigation arrows on the top the screen. This dashboard is organized into three widgets: Equipment Serving Space, Potential Problems Areas, and Equipment Summary. The name the widget appears on top the dashboard widget being viewed. Equipment Serving Space: This widget displays all equipment directly serving the selected space. This widget also shows the upstream equipment that serves AHU-. Expand any item to see more information and make changes. The FILTER button allows you to view different types equipment serving the space (e.g. lighting, meters, air handlers, chillers). Clicking on the equipment name (AHU-) will take you to the Equipment Dashboard. Potential Problem Areas: This widget provides a summary equipment serving the selected space that is currently not behaving normally. Expand any item to see more information and make any necessary changes. Use the FILTER button to view items with specific statuses (e.g. High Alarm, Warning, Overridden, Offline). On a PC, use the Export button to save the list to a.csv file that can be opened using Excel. The content this widget is a snapshot data taken every 0 minutes. Equipment Summary: This widget allows quick comparisons and troubleshooting equipment that serves the selected space. Start by clicking the drop-down in the top right corner and select the type equipment you want to view (e.g. VAV Boxes). Identify the items in alarm, overridden, or fline simply by looking at their color. Expand any item to see more information and make changes. Sort items by clicking on a column header. Click on the name a space or piece equipment to navigate to it for further troubleshooting. Custom Trend Viewer: The Custom Trend Viewer can be accessed anywhere this symbol is located. Use the Custom Trend Viewer to view a chart historical equipment trend data for up to 0 points from several pieces equipment at the same time. This information can be exported as a CSV or a PDF file including min, max, and average data. Upon logout, the Custom Trend Viewer resets. Did You Know? With Spaces Authorization, administrators can grant or deny access to spaces within the Spaces Tree by Metasys User Name. If a user is denied access to a space, the space will not display in the widgets on the Space Dashboard (Potential Problem Areas, Equipment Summary, Schedules, etc). Alarms from equipment serving denied spaces will also not be displayed. Johnson Controls, Inc. 07 (January)

3 Tapping or clicking the name a piece equipment will take you to the Equipment Dashboard. The name the equipment appears on top the dashboard widgets. Equipment Dashboard The Equipment Dashboard is organized into four widgets: Trend, Equipment Activity, Equipment Relationships, and Equipment Data. The name the widget appears on top the dashboard widget being viewed. Similar to the Space Dashboard, if the customer has Graphics configured, you will see the Graphics first and will need to use the navigation arrows to move to the Equipment Dashboard. Trend: Provides a chart historical equipment data for up to points on the selected equipment or in the served-by relationship with up to one year trend samples displayed. Samples are retrieved from the local trend buffer and the historical database, based on the timeframe selected. You can print a snapshot the trend, export the min, max, or average trend data to a.csv or.pdf file, and select periods time to view the trend. Equipment Activity: This widget displays, in timeline format, all alarm activities and user changes (audits) made to the selected piece equipment within the last year, and which user did the specified action. Users can leave annotations on alarms and User Actions to provide additional information to other Metasys Users. Expand any item to see more information, acknowledge/discard an alarm or audit, or view/add an alarm annotation. The FILTER button allows you to view different types activity. Equipment Relationships: This widget displays all relationships a piece equipment has with other equipment, spaces, and with network field controllers. In the case VAV-0, we can clearly see that it is served by an air handler. You can also easily tell that it serves the Front Lobby the building. Equipment Data: This widget displays all items within the selected piece equipment. In the case VAV-0, the zone temperature, setpoint, and other info about the VAV box is displayed. Use this widget to help you get a complete picture how the equipment is operating. Expand an item to see more information and make any necessary changes. Did You Know? The Metasys user interface comes with a robust search functionality. Search looks for the exact string that is contained in the name a space or piece equipment. Typing only three characters in the Search box (on the top right corner the interface) will bring out the relevant results. Johnson Controls, Inc. 07 (January)

4 Alarm Manager is accessed by clicking the Alarm icon. Alarm Manager Alarm Manager provides a summary and table view all events in Metasys. Authorized users can quickly filter to find the alarms that are important to them, bulk acknowledge alarm occurrences, see the space that is affected by the alarm, and see the served-by relationship to uncover any underlying problems with equipment. Alarm Summary: The Alarm Summary shows a count total alarms in two charts: a donut chart that displays the number unacknowledged alarms and acknowledged alarms and a bar chart that displays the number alarms per priority. Filter Button: Filter alarms by priority, start/end date, alarm status (acknowledged or unacknowledged), alarm type, by space and equipment, or by point category. Actions Menu: Allows you to acknowledge or discard selected alarms. This feature provides you with the ability to acknowledge or discard alarms in bulk, meaning you can quickly acknowledge nuisance alarms and focus on the ones that are critical. Export Button: This button allows you export the raw list alarms to a.csv file or exports a snapshot the Alarm Summary charts and the list displayed alarms in the alarms list to a PDF file. Did You Know? Metasys has a standalone website called Alarm Monitor which is designed to be left open for an operations or monitoring center. There is no session timeout or user timeout which reduces the risk that a security guard, operator, or other monitoring-based user will miss an alarm. Johnson Controls, Inc. 07 (January)

5 The Schedule Widget can be accessed through the Equipment or Space dashboards by using the navigation arrows. Schedule Widget The Schedule Widget allows authorized users to get the big picture schedule overview by allowing them to view all schedules affecting a space or piece equipment. Authorized users can also view the effective schedule for any day in the future, allowing them to be more proactive with schedule changes and to export the schedule data for use outside Metasys. Schedule Summary: Provides a big picture overview the schedules affecting a space or a piece equipment. The Schedules are presented in alphabetical order. Actions Menu: Quickly make changes to one or more selected schedules. Users can add multiple exceptions, reducing the time required to make schedule adjustments. Metasys allows users to copy and paste a weekly schedule, improving operator efficiency when setting up schedules. Date Picker: View the schedule information for any day in the current week or any day in the future. Filter Button: This button allows you to filter the list schedules by the type equipment being scheduled. Export button: Users can export the scheduling data to a CSV file for use outside Metasys. Did You Know? With Metasys you can make changes to multiple schedules at once, enabling you to save time, be more proactive, and increase your overall operational efficiency. 6 Graphics Manager is available only to users with the Administrator role. To access the Graphics Manager, select Graphics Manager from the User Menu. Graphics Manager The Graphics Manager is located directly in the Metasys User Interface. It is the single point entry for creating and editing Metasys UI graphics, including aliased graphics, a Master Layer, and templates. The Graphics Manager also allows you to view and manage space and equipment associations with all graphics viewable in the Metasys UI without any additional tools or stware. Tabs: By selecting different tabs on the left-hand side, you can create and edit graphics, templates, and the Master Layer. You can also open the Tools tab which allows you to find and replace point names, and import and export Metasys UI Graphics (in MUI Offline). Equipment and Spaces Tab: Lists the equipment and spaces configured to the site. Click on a space or piece equipment to view the associated graphics in the Graphics List and view, create, or edit the graphics associated with the space or equipment. Graphics List: Lists the graphics for Unassigned Graphics, Equipment and Spaces, and Aliased Graphics. Using the toolbar, you can add a Metasys UI graphic, copy a Metasys UI graphic, reorder the list graphics, and delete graphics. Preview Panel: Displays a preview the graphic. When you select equipment, a space, or an aliased graphic, the Preview Panel shows the first graphic in the Graphics List. Select any graphic in the Graphics List to view a preview. Graphics Editor Button: Opens the Graphics Editor for the previewed graphic for editing. The Graphics Editor button displays for Metasys UI graphics only. Did You Know? The Metasys User Interface supports thermographics which allow you to easily identify problem areas through your floorplan and increase operational efficiency. Johnson Controls, Inc. 07 (January)
